A primary hallmark of pathological cardiac hypertrophy is excess protein synthesis due to enhanced translational activity.However,regulatory mechanisms at the translational level under cardiac stress remain poorly und...A primary hallmark of pathological cardiac hypertrophy is excess protein synthesis due to enhanced translational activity.However,regulatory mechanisms at the translational level under cardiac stress remain poorly understood.Here we examined the translational regulations in a mouse cardiac hypertrophy model induced by transaortic constriction(TAC)and explored the conservative networks versus the translatome pattern in human dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM).The results showed that the heart weight to body weight ratio was significantly elevated,and the ejection fraction and fractional shortening significantly decreased 8 weeks after TAC.Puromycin incorporation assay showed that TAC significantly increased protein synthesis rate in the left ventricle.RNAseq revealed 1,632 differentially expressed genes showing functional enrichment in pathways including extracellular matrix remodeling,metabolic processes,and signaling cascades associated with pathological cardiomyocyte growth.When combined with ribosome profiling analysis,we revealed that translation efficiency(TE)of 1,495 genes was enhanced,while the TE of 933 genes was inhibited following TAC.In DCM patients,1,354 genes were upregulated versus 1,213 genes were downregulated at the translation level.Although the majority of the genes were not shared between mouse and human,we identified 93 genes,including Nos3,Kcnj8,Adcy4,Itpr1,Fasn,Scd1,etc.,with highly conserved translational regulations.These genes were remarkably associated with myocardial function,signal transduction,and energy metabolism,particularly related to cGMP-PKG signaling and fatty acid metabolism.Motif analysis revealed enriched regulatory elements in the 5′untranslated regions(5′UTRs)of transcripts with differential TE,which exhibited strong cross-species sequence conservation.Our study revealed novel regulatory mechanisms at the translational level in cardiac hypertrophy and identified conserved translation-sensitive targets with potential applications to treat cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure in the clinic.展开更多

BACKGROUND Computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)may assist endoscopists in identifying and classifying polyps during colonoscopy for detecting colorectal cancer.AIM To build a system using CAD to detect and classify polyps ba...BACKGROUND Computer-aided diagnosis(CAD)may assist endoscopists in identifying and classifying polyps during colonoscopy for detecting colorectal cancer.AIM To build a system using CAD to detect and classify polyps based on the Yamada classification.METHODS A total of 24045 polyp and 72367 nonpolyp images were obtained.We established a computer-aided detection and Yamada classification model based on the YOLOv7 neural network algorithm.Frame-based and image-based evaluation metrics were employed to assess the performance.RESULTS Computer-aided detection and Yamada classification screened polyps with a precision of 96.7%,a recall of 95.8%,and an F1-score of 96.2%,outperforming those of all groups of endoscopists.In regard to the Yamada classification of polyps,the CAD system displayed a precision of 82.3%,a recall of 78.5%,and an F1-score of 80.2%,outper-forming all levels of endoscopists.In addition,according to the image-based method,the CAD had an accuracy of 99.2%,a specificity of 99.5%,a sensitivity of 98.5%,a positive predictive value of 99.0%,a negative predictive value of 99.2%for polyp detection and an accuracy of 97.2%,a specificity of 98.4%,a sensitivity of 79.2%,a positive predictive value of 83.0%,and a negative predictive value of 98.4%for poly Yamada classification.CONCLUSION We developed a novel CAD system based on a deep neural network for polyp detection,and the Yamada classi-fication outperformed that of nonexpert endoscopists.This CAD system could help community-based hospitals enhance their effectiveness in polyp detection and classification.展开更多

Jaundice,common condition in newborns,is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood.Timely detection and management of jaundice are crucial to prevent potential co...Jaundice,common condition in newborns,is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood.Timely detection and management of jaundice are crucial to prevent potential complications.Traditional jaundice assessment methods rely on visual inspection or invasive blood tests that are subjective and painful for infants,respectively.Although several automated methods for jaundice detection have been developed during the past few years,a limited number of reviews consolidating these developments have been presented till date,making it essential to systematically evaluate and present the existing advancements.This paper fills this gap by providing a thorough survey of automated methods for jaundice detection in neonates.The primary focus of the survey is to review the existing methodologies,techniques,and technologies used for neonatal jaundice detection.The key findings from the review indicate that image-based bilirubinometers and transcutaneous bilirubinometers are promising non-invasive alternatives,and provide a good trade-off between accuracy and ease of use.However,their effectiveness varies with factors like skin pigmentation,gestational age,and measurement site.Spectroscopic and biosensor-based techniques show high sensitivity but need further clinical validation.Despite advancements,several challenges including device calibration,large-scale validation,and regulatory barriers still haunt the researchers.Standardization,regulatory compliances,and seamless integration into healthcare workflows are the key hurdles to be addressed.By consolidating the current knowledge and discussing the challenges and opportunities in this field,this survey aims to contribute to the advancement of automatic jaundice detection and ultimately improve neonatal care.展开更多

文摘This study aims to explore the potential and limitations of ChatGPT in translation,focusing on its application in Neural Machine Translation(NMT).By combining theoretical analysis with empirical research,the study evaluates ChatGPT’s strengths and weaknesses.It reveals ChatGPT’s superior performance in handling technical documents with high translation quality and efficiency.However,its limitations become evident in addressing cultural nuances and emotional expressions,where semantic deviation or cultural loss often occurs.Moreover,ChatGPT struggles with creative translation,failing to convey the artistic style and emotional depth of original texts,such as literary works and advertisements.The study proposes optimized paths for human-machine collaboration,emphasizing the crucial role of human translators in cultural adaptation and quality assurance.It suggests incorporating multimodal data,dynamic feedback mechanisms,and pragmatic reasoning techniques to enhance machine translation capabilities.The findings conclude that while ChatGPT serves as an efficient translation tool,complex tasks require human-machine synergy to achieve high-quality cross-cultural communication.

文摘Based on Katharina Reiss’s text typology theory from the German Functionalist School,this paper systematically explores the strategic differences and practical methods in the mutual translation between Chinese and Japanese for operative,informative,expressive,and informative+expressive text types.By comparatively analyzing the linguistic functions,communicative features,and cultural cognitive differences of these four text types,the study proposes targeted translation strategies:Operative texts require tone adjustment,localized adaptation,and pragmatic compensation to maximize appeal;informative texts emphasize sentence structure restructuring and terminology standardization to ensure information transfer efficiency;expressive texts focus on formal imitation and rhetorical reproduction to preserve the original aesthetic value;for informative+expressive texts,flexible handling of idioms,proverbs,and stylistic forms is necessary to achieve an optimal balance between informational accuracy and aesthetic form.The study validates the applicability of functionalist theory in Chinese-Japanese translation through empirical case studies,while also revealing the prevalence of mixed text functions and the consequent demand for translator strategic flexibility.These findings not only expand the explanatory dimension of Reiss’s theory,but also provide an operational methodological framework for cross-cultural translation practice,holding practical significance for promoting in-depth communication between China and Japan.
文摘The translation of ancient Chinese cultural artifacts terminology in museums plays a pivotal role in facilitating cross-cultural communication and preserving cultural heritage in the context of globalization.Through field research in over ten Chinese museums and analysis of more than 800 terms,this paper explores the most effective translation methods for such terminology,focusing on transliteration and literal translation under the strategy of foreignization as well as liberal translation and imitation under the domesticating strategy.Standardized terminology not only prevents ambiguities but also bridges cultural gaps by preserving phonetic authenticity while contextualizing functionality.By refining translation practices,museums can better fulfill their mission as bridges between cultures,promoting global appreciation of China’s rich historical and artistic legacy.

文摘Jaundice,common condition in newborns,is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes due to elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood.Timely detection and management of jaundice are crucial to prevent potential complications.Traditional jaundice assessment methods rely on visual inspection or invasive blood tests that are subjective and painful for infants,respectively.Although several automated methods for jaundice detection have been developed during the past few years,a limited number of reviews consolidating these developments have been presented till date,making it essential to systematically evaluate and present the existing advancements.This paper fills this gap by providing a thorough survey of automated methods for jaundice detection in neonates.The primary focus of the survey is to review the existing methodologies,techniques,and technologies used for neonatal jaundice detection.The key findings from the review indicate that image-based bilirubinometers and transcutaneous bilirubinometers are promising non-invasive alternatives,and provide a good trade-off between accuracy and ease of use.However,their effectiveness varies with factors like skin pigmentation,gestational age,and measurement site.Spectroscopic and biosensor-based techniques show high sensitivity but need further clinical validation.Despite advancements,several challenges including device calibration,large-scale validation,and regulatory barriers still haunt the researchers.Standardization,regulatory compliances,and seamless integration into healthcare workflows are the key hurdles to be addressed.By consolidating the current knowledge and discussing the challenges and opportunities in this field,this survey aims to contribute to the advancement of automatic jaundice detection and ultimately improve neonatal care.
