Researching and comprehending the characteristics of destructive seismic motions is essential for the seismic design of critical infrastructure.This study employs historical data from the M 7.5 earthquake that occurre...Researching and comprehending the characteristics of destructive seismic motions is essential for the seismic design of critical infrastructure.This study employs historical data from the M 7.5 earthquake that occurred in 1850 to simulate the impacts of a M 7.5 event on hydropower stations located in proximity to Xichang.Key factors taken into account in the simulation of seismic motion encompass uncertainties,mixed-source models,and the placement of asperities.Through these simulations,we acquired the peak ground acceleration(PGA),acceleration time histories,and acceleration response spectra for the hydropower facilities affected by the earthquake.To perform a comprehensive analysis,we utilized a multi-scenario stochastic finite fault simulation method to estimate parameters including the minimum,average,and maximum values of PGA and pseudo-spectral acceleration(PSA)response spectra.Additionally,we assessed the 50^(th),84^(th),and 95^(th)percentiles values of the peak ground acceleration and pseudo-spectral acceleration response spectra.The simulation results also include peak ground acceleration field maps and peak ground velocity(PGV)field maps and intensity distribution maps pertaining to the earthquake.The findings demonstrate that the intensity maps produced through the stochastic finite fault method closely correspond with the intensity contour maps published of historical seismic records.These findings offer significant insights for the seismic safety evaluation and design of the specified hydropower stations.Moreover,this multi-scenario methodology can be effectively utilized for other critical infrastructure projects to derive dependable seismic motion parameters.展开更多

Altogether seven stages can be recognized, i.e., the penecontemporaneous, early and mid-late diagenetic stages, the epidiagenetic stage and the eary, middleand late reburying stages. Karst and dissolution pores and structural fissures developedduring the epidiagenetic and reburying stages constitute the major reservoirs for hydrocarbon accumulation. Oil generation and migration began in the early reburying stagein Late Permian time and decloped to its climax in the middle reburying stage in theTriassic period, followed by extensive generation and migration of natural gases duringthe late stage of reburying in tbe Jurassic and later periods. The generation, migrationand accumulation of hydrocarbons are closely related to Hercynian basalt eruption andIndosinian and Yenshanian tecto-magmatism.展开更多

Some intermediate-basic granulites are considered to be the crys-talline basement of lower crust in the terr...Panzhihua-Xichang (Panxi) micro-palaeoland is the oldest terrane on the western margin of the Yangtze Block. Some intermediate-basic granulites are considered to be the crys-talline basement of lower crust in the terrane. Granulite-facies metamorphism of the granulites was developed in the period from 1186 Ma to 1128 Ma. The origin of granulites was related to the collision orogenic process occurring when the micro-palaeolands merged to form the Rodinia Supercontinent. Amphibolite-facies retrogressive metamorphism of granulites took place in the period from 877 Ma to 825 Ma. This period was consistent with the breakup time of the Rodinia Supercontinent. 40Ar/39Ar ages and fission track (FT) ages of granulites in the Panxi mi-cro-palaeoland show that the vertical movement history of crustal rocks was a slow uplift process of the rigid terrane in the time from Neoproterozoic to Mesozoic. The subduction of India Plate towards Euroasia Plate resulted in the rapid uplift of the Qinghai-Tibetan Block in Cenozoic. Meanwhile, the Qinghai-Tibetan Block moved towards east. Consequently the Panxi terrane was uplifted rapidly. As a result of the collision orogeny between the Qinghai-Tibetan Block and the Panxi terrane, the granulite-facies crystalline basement in this region was exhumed and exposed to the surface.展开更多

From the Xujiahe Formation of the Yiguojiao tracksite, we report a Late ...Upper Triassic and Middle Jurassic strata of the Xichang Basin in Sichuan Province, southwestern China, yielded important dinosaur ichnofossils. From the Xujiahe Formation of the Yiguojiao tracksite, we report a Late Triassic footprint assemblage in China and the first discovery of diagnostic Triassic sauropodomorph tracks in this region. The tracks share a number of features in common with the ichnogenera Eosauropus(Late Triassic) and Liujianpus(Early Jurassic). The neighboring Bingtu tracksite is stratigraphically younger(Shaximiao Formation, Middle Jurassic) and preserves small tridactyl theropod tracks that represent the first occurrence of the ichnotaxon Carmelopodus in China and Asia. While these tracks are morphologically comparable to those from the Middle Jurassic type locality in North America, the specimens from China show the proximal margin of the digit IV impression in a more cranial position, which may indicate a trackmaker with a relatively short metatarsal IV. In addition to the skeletal record, the Carmelopodus footprints document the presence of small theropods in the dinosaur fauna of the Middle Jurassic Shaximiao Formation.展开更多
