This paper proposes an alternative approach for constructing a knowledge graph (KG) from a PDF document with a focus on simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The process involves splitting the document into chunks, extracting concepts within each chunk using a large language model (LLM), and building relationships based on the proximity of concepts in the same chunk. Unlike traditional named entity recognition (NER), which identifies entities like “Shanghai”, the proposed method identifies concepts, such as “Convenient transportation in Shanghai” which is found to be more meaningful for KG construction. Each edge in the KG represents a relationship between concepts occurring in the same text chunk. The process is computationally inexpensive, leveraging locally set up tools like Mistral 7B openorca instruct and Ollama for model inference, ensuring the entire graph generation process is cost-free. A method of assigning weights to relationships, grouping similar pairs, and summarizing multiple relationships into a single edge with associated weight and relation details is introduced. Additionally, node degrees and communities are calculated for node sizing and coloring. This approach offers a scalable, cost-effective solution for generating meaningful knowledge graphs from large documents, achieving results comparable to GraphRAG while maintaining accessibility for personal machines.展开更多

Traditionally, bariatric surgeries have been categorized into hypoabsorptive, restrictive, or hybrid approaches. However, these classifications inadequately reflect the complex anatomical and physiological alterations associated with modern surgical methodologies. This paper explores the evolution of metabolic surgeries, emphasizing the integration of physiological concepts into classic procedures to provide more tailored and effective treatment options for obesity and its comorbidities. Finally, the proposal for a new classification based on current metabolic concepts will facilitate communication among patients, doctors, and healthcare professionals. Additionally, it will enable a more didactic and standardized approach to data collection for conducting studies and publications.展开更多

文摘In the context of the new era of education, advanced mathematics not only undertakes the function of knowledge transmission but also plays a vital role in cultivating logical thinking, scientific spirit, and value orientation. However, traditional teaching has overemphasized knowledge instillation while neglecting value guidance, making it difficult to meet the demands of cultivating interdisciplinary talents. This study introduces the OBE concept and constructs a“knowledge–ability–value”teaching framework, integrating outcome orientation, backward design, and diversified evaluation to promote the systematic incorporation of ideological and political education into the curriculum.Taking limits, definite integrals, and series as representative knowledge points, the paper designs case-based pathways to foster dialectical thinking, patriotism, and scientific spirit.Practice has shown that this model effectively unifies knowledge education and value education, enhancing students’logical reasoning, sense of responsibility, and scientific literacy. The study provides an operational pathway for the reform of ideological and political education in advanced mathematics courses and carries practical significance for implementing the goal of“all-round education.”
文摘In response to current issues in basic nursing course instruction, this article proposes a teaching model reform based on the OBE(outcome-based education)concept.By resetting course objectives, innovating teaching methods and content, reforming the assessment and evaluation system,as well as conducting practical explorations and case studies, the aim is to enhance teaching quality and cultivate students’practical abilities and comprehensive qualities. The article elaborates on the application of the OBE concept in nursing education and its effectiveness evaluation, providing a valuable reference for nursing education reform.
基金2023 Educational Reform Project of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine JGJD202320:Research on the Application of Workshop Teaching Model Based on DEU Concept in Teaching of Internship Nursing Students。
文摘Objective:To investigate the implementation effects of the workshop teaching model based on the DEU(Dedicated Education Unit)philosophy in clinical nursing education for intern nurses, and analyze its impacts on students’critical thinking abilities, operational skill levels, and satisfaction. Methods:A total of 80 undergraduate nursing students interning at a tertiary hospital in Deyang City from January to June 2025 were randomly divided into an experimental group(40 students)and a control group(40 students). The control group received conventional lecture-based instruction, while the experimental group adopted the DEU-based workshop teaching model.Comparative analyses were conducted on theoretical scores, operational assessment results,Critical Thinking Inventory(CTDI-CV)scores,and satisfaction surveys between the two groups. Results:The experimental group demonstrated significantly higher theoretical scores, operational skill assessments, and critical thinking dimension scores compared to the control group(P<0.05),with notable improvements in teaching satisfaction. Conclusion:Integrating the DEU philosophy with workshop teaching models can effectively enhance clinical teaching quality, strengthen nursing students’comprehensive competencies, and boost learning motivation. This approach is recommended for widespread adoption in clinical nursing education.

文摘Purpose:This research addresses the challenge of concept drift in AI-enabled software, particularly within autonomous vehicle systems where concept drift in object recognition(like pedestrian detection)can lead to misclassifications and safety risks. This study introduces a proactive framework to detect early signs of domain-specific concept drift by leveraging domain analysis and natural language processing techniques. This method is designed to help maintain the relevance of domain knowledge and prevent potential failures in AI systems due to evolving concept definitions.Design/methodology/approach:The proposed framework integrates natural language processing and image analysis to continuously update and monitor key domain concepts against evolving external data sources, such as social media and news.By identifying terms and features closely associated with core concepts, the system anticipates and flags significant changes. This was tested in the automotive domain on the pedestrian concept, where the framework was evaluated for its capacity to detect shifts in the recognition of pedestrians, particularly during events like Halloween and specific car accidents.Findings:The framework demonstrated an ability to detect shifts in the domain concept of pedestrians,as evidenced by contextual changes around major events. While it successfully identified pedestrian-related drift, the system’s accuracy varied when overlapping with larger social events. The results indicate the model’s potential to foresee relevant shifts before they impact autonomous systems, although further refinement is needed to handle high-impact concurrent events.Research limitations:This study focused on detecting concept drift in the pedestrian domain within autonomous vehicles, with results varying across domains. To assess generalizability,we tested the framework for airplane-related incidents and demonstrated adaptability. However, unpredictable events and data biases from social media and news may obscure domain-specific drifts.Further evaluation across diverse applications is needed to enhance robustness in evolving AI environments.Practical implications:The proactive detection of concept drift has significant implications for AI-driven domains, especially in safety-critical applications like autonomous driving.By identifying early signs of drift, this framework provides actionable insights for AI system updates, potentially reducing misclassification risks and enhancing public safety. Moreover,it enables timely interventions, reducing costly and labor-intensive retraining requirements by focusing only on the relevant aspects of evolving concepts. This method offers a streamlined approach for maintaining AI system performance in environments where domain knowledge rapidly changes.Originality/value:This study contributes a novel domain-agnostic framework that combines natural language processing with image analysis to predict concept drift early. This unique approach, which is focused on real-time data sources, offers an effective and scalable solution for addressing the evolving nature of domain-specific concepts in AI applications.
文摘Purpose:Citations can be used in evaluative bibliometrics to measure the impact of papers. However, citation analysis can be extended by a multi-dimensional perspective on citation impact which is intended to receive more specific information about the kind of received impact.Design/methodology/approach:Bornmann,Wray,and Haunschild(2019)introduced citation concept analysis(CCA)for capturing the importance and usefulness certain concepts have in subsequent research. The method is based on the analysis of citances-the contexts of citations in citing papers. This study applies the method by investigating the impact of various concepts introduced in the oeuvre of the world-leading French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu.Findings:We found that the most cited concepts are‘social capital’(with about 34%of the citances in the citing papers),‘cultural capital’,and‘habitus’(both with about 24%).On the other hand, the concepts‘doxa’and‘reflexivity’score only about 1%each.Research limitations:The formulation of search terms for identifying the concepts in the data and the citation context coverage are the most important limitations of the study.Practical implications:The results of this explorative study reflect the historical development of Bourdieu’s thought and its interface with different fields of study.Originality/value:The study demonstrates the high explanatory power of the CCA method.
