Ball-sealer transport characteristics and plugging performance in vertical wells

Ball-sealer plugging is a cost-effective method for hydraulic fracturing in vertical wells,yet the transport and plugging behavior of ball sealers remains poorly understood.This paper investigates ball-sealer plugging using both experimental and numerical approaches.A coupled computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and discrete element method(DEM) model simulates ball transport under field conditions,validated by experiments in inclined pipes.Results show that plugging performance improves with a higher flow rate ratio of the perforation,allowing effective plugging even when the ball is far from the target perforation.There exists a threshold distance between the ball and the perforation under specific conditions.The closer the ball is to the wellbore wall,the higher the likelihood of successful plugging.Low-density balls can enhance plugging performance to some extent.At high flow rates,ball inertia along the wellbore axis increases,reducing the ball's ability to redirect and weakening plugging performance.Ball interactions also affect their positioning and plugging success.In vertical wells with multiple clusters,prioritizing higher flow rates to the first fracturing cluster optimizes overall plugging performance and minimizes excessive plugging in lower,under-stimulated clusters.These findings offer valuable insights for optimizing ball-sealer deployment in well completions,improving operational outcomes. 展开更多

Ball-sealer in-stage diversion in horizontal wells is a key technique to realize the uniform stimulation of fractured sections in tight oil and gas reservoirs.So far,however,there are fewer research results on the propagation morphologies of multi-cluster fractures after the implementation of different ball-sealer in-stage diversion processes during the fracturing treatment,which results in less theoretical support for the preparation offield ball-sealer in-stage diversion process and measures and impacts its application effects in the fracturingfield.To deal with this situation,this paper established a fully coupled“wellboreeperforationefracture propagation”model of horizontal wells on the basis of the boundary element method.Then,a method for calculating the allocation of ball sealers was proposed.Finally,the number of ball sealers,diversion time and number of diversions during the intra-stage temporary plugging and diversion under the condition of initial heterogeneous stressfield and their effects on the propagation of multi-cluster fractures were simulated.And the following research results were obtained.First,theflow restriction of perforation friction can counterbalance the intake difference caused by the induced stress interference so that the friction difference applied on thefluidflow in each fracture cluster is reduced.Second,when the effect of the heterogeneous distribution of the initial stressfield is taken into consideration,the liquid intake of each fracture cluster changes greatly and even ineffective perforation clusters without liquid incoming appear in the high-stress region.And after the ball is injected,new fractures are initiated from the ineffective perforation clusters.Third,when the initial minimum horizontal principal stress difference(Dsh)is higher than 3 MPa,it is beneficial to reduce the non-uniform propagation of each fracture cluster by increasing the number of ball sealers appropriately in the middle stage of the construction(over half of the total perforations of each stage)or carrying out temporary plugging in the earlyemiddle stage(including ball injection in batches in the earlyemiddle stage).Fourth,when Dsh is lower than 2 MPa,it is necessary to reduce the number of ball sealers or inject balls in the middleelate stage,or the non-uniform propagation of each fracture cluster will be aggravated. 展开更多

The flowability of a root canal sealer is clinically important because it improves the penetration of the sealer into the complex root canal system. The purpose of this study was to compare the flowabilities of four root canal sealers, measured using the simple press method (ISO 6876), and their viscosities, measured using a strain-controlled rheometer. A newly developed, calcium phosphate-based root canal sealer (Capseal) and three commercial root canal sealers (AH Plus, Sealapex and Pulp Canal Sealer EWT) were used in this study. The flowabilities of the four root canal sealers were measured using the simple press method (n= 5) and their viscosities were measured using a strain-controlled rheometer (n=5). The correlation between these two values was statistically analysed using Spearman's correlation test. The flow diameters and the viscosities of the root canal sealers were strongly negatively correlated (p= -0.8618). The viscosity of Pulp Canal Sealer EWT was the lowest and increased in the following order: AH Plus〈Sealapex〈Capseal (P〈0.05). All of the tested root canal sealers showed characteristic time- and temperature-dependent changes in their rheological properties. The viscosities measured using the strain-controlled rheometer were more precise than the flowabilities measured using the simple press method, suggesting that the rheometer can accurately measure the rheological properties of root canal sealers. 展开更多

BACKGROUND The success rate of conservative endodontic management for root fracture varies greatly based on different methods used.It has been rarely reported that calcium silicate-based materials are applied in root fracture treatment.CASE SUMMARY A 38-year-old male patient presented with spontaneous pain from the upper left anterior teeth for 1 wk.The spontaneous pain was subsequently relieved,but pain on mastication persisted for 3 d.The patient had a dental trauma from a boxing match 15 years ago.Cone beam computed tomography showed that the maxillary left central incisor had oblique fracture lines and a radiolucent lesion around the fracture line.The tooth was diagnosed with an oblique root fracture with no healing and symptomatic apical periodontitis.In the following conservative endodontic management,the coronal and apical fragments of the canal both were chemo-mechanically prepared and obturated using a single cone gutta-percha with iRoot SP(Innovative BioCreamix Inc,Vancouver,Canada),a new calcium silicate-based bioceramic root canal sealer.At follow-ups at 1,6,12,and 24 mo,the patient was asymptomatic and the radiolucency around the fracture line was healing radiographically.CONCLUSION Conservative root canal treatment is an alternative treatment in some cases of oblique root fracture with no healing.The application of bioceramic sealers and single core obturation techniques may also be essential to obtain an excellent outcome. 展开更多

Background: One of the ideal properties of a root canal sealer is to have a good sealing ability, especially at the apical third of the root. Objective: To evaluate the comparison of the apical leakage between obturation using bioceramic sealer (BS) and polydimethylsiloxane sealer (PS). Materials and Methods: Thirty-six mandibular premolars were equally divided into two groups and were obturated with single cone technique. The sealers used for Group I and Group II were BS and PS respectively. After obturation, the samples were incubated (37&deg;C, 24 h), sealed with two coats of nail polish except for 2 mm from the apex, submerged in the Indian ink for 7 days, decalcified, dehydrated, and made transparent according to Robertson technique. Dye penetration was evaluated under stereomicroscope. Samples without dye penetration were given score 0, dye penetration ≤ 0.5 mm were given score 1, 0.51 - 1 mm were given score 2, and >1 mm were given score 3. Result: The largest proportion distribution in BS group was at the score 1 (55.6%), whereas in PS group was at the score 2 (44.4%). Conclusion: Bioceramic sealer showed similar apical leakage to polydimethylsiloxane sealer. Clinical Relevance: Based on this study, bioceramic sealer can be recommended to be used as sealer with low level of apical leakage as well as polydimethylsiloxane sealer. 展开更多

Push-out Bond Strength of Self-adhesive Methacrylate Resin-based Sealers to Root Dentin

This study examined the adhesive strength of two self-adhesive methacrylate resin-based sealers(MetaSEAL and RealSeal SE) to root dentin and compared them with RealSeal and AH Plus in properties. A total of 48 extracted human single-rooted teeth were used to prepare the 0.9-mm thick longitudinal tooth slice(each per tooth). Standardized simulated canal spaces of uniform dimensions were prepared in the middle of radicular dentin. After treated with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite(NaOCl) and 17% EDTA, tooth slices were allocated randomly to four groups(n=12) in terms of different sealers used: MetaSEAL, RealSeal SE, RealSeal, and AH plus groups. The simulated canal spaces were obturated with different sealers in each group. There were 10 slabs with 20 simulated canal spaces(n=20) used in each group for push-out testing. The failure modes and the ultrastructures of fractured sealer-dentin interfaces were examined. The remaining 2 slabs in each group underwent partial demineralization for observation of the ultrastructure of resin tags. The results showed that the push-out bond strength was 12.01±4.66 MPa in MetaSEAL group, significantly higher than that in the other three groups(P0.05). Moreover, no statistically significant differences were noted in the push-out bond strength between RealSeal SE(5.43±3.68 MPa) and AH Plus(7.34±2.83 MPa) groups and between RealSeal SE and RealSeal(2.93±1.76 MPa) groups(P0.05). Mixed failures were predominant in the fractured sealer-dentin interfaces in MetaSEAL and AH Plus groups, while adhesive failures were frequently seen in RealSeal SE and RealSeal groups. In conclusion, after complete removal of the smear layer, MetaSEAL showed superior bond ability to root dentin. The RealSeal SE is applicable in clinical practice, with its adhesive strength similar to that of AH Plus. The self-adhesive methacrylate resin-based sealer holds promise for use in endodontic treatment. 展开更多

In the staged multi-cluster fracturing of shale gas horizontal wells, ball sealers are used to ensure uniform fluid distribution among clusters, a strategy that is both cost-effective and operationally beneficial. Despite these advantages, comprehending the ball sealers' dynamics within the wellbore and their plugging behavior at perforations is still challenging. This complexity results in prediction difficulties regarding their diversion efficiency. To address this, our study utilized a semi-resolved CFD-DEM model based on kernel approximation to simulate the behavior of medium-sized ball sealers in single and multiple cluster scenarios. Our findings from a single cluster scenario reveal that the plugging probability is co-determined by velocity gradients in the fluid ingestion area near the perforation, backflow region, and inertial forces of the ball sealers. As the critical flow rate is achieved, the plugging probability negatively correlated with fluid viscosity and displacement, and positively correlated with the perforation flow ratio (PFR), the difference in particle-fluid density, ball sealer’s diameter, and the ball sealer’s offset from the pipeline center. Temporary plugging control efficiency was used to evaluate the flow balance effect among multiple clusters. The results indicate that an increased number of ball sealers enhances the fault tolerance during the temporary plugging process. Nevertheless, excessive ball sealers might undermine the temporary plugging control efficiency, as perforations with lower fluid inflow rates are unexpectedly plugging. Higher differences in fluid injection rates between clusters led to increased efficiency in temporary plugging control. Premature deployment of ball sealers cannot effectively plug perforations with marginally higher fluid inflow rates, but instead accidently plug intermediate clusters with lower fluid inflow rates. These findings offer a theoretical basis for optimizing the design of ball sealers. 展开更多

背景:目前,临床实践中广泛使用的根管封闭剂存在生物相容性较差和降解性不佳的缺点。目的:制备以聚乙烯醇为黏合剂的纳米羟基磷灰石和β-磷酸三钙双相磷酸钙复合材料,表征复合材料的性能。方法:将15%聚乙烯醇水凝胶分别与不同比例的纳... 背景:目前,临床实践中广泛使用的根管封闭剂存在生物相容性较差和降解性不佳的缺点。目的:制备以聚乙烯醇为黏合剂的纳米羟基磷灰石和β-磷酸三钙双相磷酸钙复合材料,表征复合材料的性能。方法:将15%聚乙烯醇水凝胶分别与不同比例的纳米羟基磷灰石与β-磷酸三钙(纳米羟基磷灰石与β-磷酸三钙的质量比分别为30∶70,40∶60,50∶50)混合,采用冷冻干燥法制备双相磷酸钙/聚乙烯醇复合材料,同时制备30%纳米羟基磷灰石/聚乙烯醇复合材料、30%β-磷酸三钙/聚乙烯醇复合材料。采用扫描电子显微镜、X射线能量色散谱仪器、X射线衍射仪、X射线光电子能谱技术、傅里叶红外光谱表征各组复合材料的理化性能,采用万能力学试验机检测各组复合材料的机械力学性能。结果与结论:①扫描电镜及X射线能量色散光谱观察到双相磷酸钙/聚乙烯醇复合材料中的纳米羟基磷灰石与β-磷酸三钙呈团簇状聚集在一起,并且C、O、Ca、P元素分布均匀;②双相磷酸钙/聚乙烯醇复合材料X射线衍射、X射线光电子能谱、傅里叶红外光谱结果显示,聚乙烯醇与纳米羟基磷灰石和β-磷酸三钙成功混合,未出现化学结构的变化;③5组复合材料的压缩极限强度与弹性模量比较差异均无显著性意义(P>0.05),其中双相磷酸钙(40∶60)/聚乙烯醇复合材料的弹性模量最大。 展开更多

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical properties and bioactivity potential of epoxy-based dental sealers modified with synthesized bioactive glass(BAG),hydroxyapatite(HA)and fluorine substituted hydroxyapatite(FHA)nanoparticles.The synthesized powders were incorporated at 10%and 20%into the epoxy-based dental sealer.The setting time,flow and solubility and microhardness of the modified and unmodified samples were examined.The bioactivity was evaluated using FESEM-EDX and elemental mapping,ATR-FTIR and XRD.The flow value of all of the experimental groups except the FHA modified samples,was greater than 20 mm.Concerning solubility,no specimens exhibited more than 1%weight loss.The solubility value of the FHA groups was statistically significant lower than other groups(p≤0.001).The mean hardness values of all of the modified samples were significantly higher than the unmodified group(p≤0.001).Regarding bioactivity,in vitro study revealed that after 3 days immersion in SBF a compact and continuous calcium phosphate layer formed on the surface of epoxy sealers containing BAG and HA nanoparticles.Based on these results,the addition of BAG and HA nanoparticles did not adversely alter the physical properties of epoxy sealers.Additionally,they improved the in vitro bioactivity of the epoxy sealer. 展开更多

目的比较C-Root SP与i-Root SP两种不同根管封闭剂结合热牙胶垂直加压充填技术应用于下颌第二恒磨牙C形根管充填治疗的临床疗效。方法选取需行根管治疗的下颌第二磨牙C形根管患牙86颗,随机分为两组,分别使用不同的根管封闭剂,即i-Root S... 目的比较C-Root SP与i-Root SP两种不同根管封闭剂结合热牙胶垂直加压充填技术应用于下颌第二恒磨牙C形根管充填治疗的临床疗效。方法选取需行根管治疗的下颌第二磨牙C形根管患牙86颗,随机分为两组,分别使用不同的根管封闭剂,即i-Root SP和C-Root SP组。比较两组患牙根管充填时间、X线片检查术后即刻充填效果、术后疼痛及6个月短期疗效。结果i-Root SP组和C-Root SP组充填操作时间分别为(196.05±24.69)s和(204.67±29.36)s。治疗后患者恰填、欠填、超填例数i-Root SP组分别为39例、1例和3例,C-Root SP组分别为36例、2例和5例,两组充填时间和效果比较差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);两组术后疼痛在1、3、7 d随着时间推移均逐渐减轻,但在不同时间点(1、3、7 d)两组疼痛程度差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。术后6个月疗效评价i-Root SP组治疗总有效率为97.67%,C-Root SP组的治疗总有效率为95.35%,两组之间差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论C-Root SP和i-Root SP结合热牙胶垂直加压充填技术均能有效应用于C形根管填充治疗,值得临床推广。 展开更多

牙髓根尖周病是主要由细菌及其代谢产物引起的常见感染性疾病,通过根管治疗术去除根管内感染物质是目前最常用的治疗方法,然而根管内微生物的持续存在对根管治疗的成功率有着不利影响。现有观点认为,根管封闭剂能封闭核心充填材料无法... 牙髓根尖周病是主要由细菌及其代谢产物引起的常见感染性疾病,通过根管治疗术去除根管内感染物质是目前最常用的治疗方法,然而根管内微生物的持续存在对根管治疗的成功率有着不利影响。现有观点认为,根管封闭剂能封闭核心充填材料无法充填的部分区域,通过其抗菌性对微生物产生抑制作用,降低再感染风险,提升根管治疗成功率。多种策略通过机械锁结或化学结合等各异的机制对根管封闭剂进行抗菌修饰,包括抗生素修饰、季铵化合物修饰、纳米颗粒修饰等,以求增强其抗菌性能。总体而言,抗菌修饰策略日益增多,在改良封闭剂抗菌性方面的效果毋庸置疑。季铵化合物和纳米颗粒修饰后的根管封闭剂在抗生物膜活性方面显示出一定优势,具备潜在的临床前景。然而,修饰后的材料是否具有长期抗菌效果,以及其在体内是否能发挥与体外相似的作用和其生物相容性等问题,还亟待解决。在未来,如何制备具有多维度理想性能的根管封闭剂还需要更长远而深入的探索。 展开更多

针对包装热封机温度控制中存在的非线性、时滞及工况变化导致的参数漂移等问题,提出一种基于长短期记忆(LSTM)的自学习比例积分微分(PID)控制算法。该算法对PID控制器的参数进行自学习优化。创新采用了参数生成-控制执行双回路控制结构... 针对包装热封机温度控制中存在的非线性、时滞及工况变化导致的参数漂移等问题,提出一种基于长短期记忆(LSTM)的自学习比例积分微分(PID)控制算法。该算法对PID控制器的参数进行自学习优化。创新采用了参数生成-控制执行双回路控制结构。通过引入温度误差、包装速率等多维输入,并设计专用损失函数,以增强学习过程的稳定性与系统的抗干扰能力。仿真结果表明,该算法在响应速度、超调抑制和稳态误差方面显著优于传统PID及遗传算法(GA)优化的PID控制器,且在系统参数漂移时表现出更强的适应性与稳定性。该研究为包装热封机等工业被控对象提供了智能化解决方案,具有较高的工程应用价值。 展开更多

3种根管封闭剂充填效果的Micro-CT评估

目的应用Micro-CT评价3种生物材料根管封闭剂iRoot SP、C-Root SP及GuttaFlow Bioseal(GFB)的根管充填效果。方法选取60颗单根单管离体前磨牙,截冠使工作长度统一为12 mm,机用镍钛根管预备至30号06锥度。样本随机分成6组,使用3种根管封... 目的应用Micro-CT评价3种生物材料根管封闭剂iRoot SP、C-Root SP及GuttaFlow Bioseal(GFB)的根管充填效果。方法选取60颗单根单管离体前磨牙,截冠使工作长度统一为12 mm,机用镍钛根管预备至30号06锥度。样本随机分成6组,使用3种根管封闭剂、2种充填法进行根管充填,分别为iRoot SP+单尖法充填、C-Root SP+单尖法充填、GFB+单尖法充填、iRoot SP+超声活化单尖法充填、C-Root SP+超声活化单尖法充填、GFB+超声活化单尖法充填。对充填样本进行Micro-CT扫描,Mimics 22.0软件进行根管系统三维重建,计算根管整体充填率及根冠1/3、根中1/3、根尖1/3的分段充填率。结果3种根管封闭剂的整体充填率均大于90%。单尖法根管充填时,GFB的根管整体充填率、根冠1/3及根中1/3段充填率均低于iRoot SP、C-Root SP(P<0.01),iRoot SP与C-Root SP充填率间的差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。超声活化单尖法根管充填时,GFB的根管整体充填率及各段充填率均低于iRoot SP、C-Root SP(P<0.01),iRoot SP与C-Root SP充填率间的差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。2种充填方法对比,除C-Root SP单尖法充填时根尖1/3充填率低于超声活化单尖法(P<0.01),GFB单尖法充填时根冠1/3充填率高于超声活化单尖法(P<0.01)外,其余充填率间的差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论3种生物材料根管封闭剂使用单尖法及超声活化单尖法充填根管的整体充填率良好,其中iRoot SP与C-Root SP的充填效果相似,相比GFB具有更好的充填质量。C-Root SP配合超声活化单尖法能提高根尖段充填率。 展开更多

目的评估生物陶瓷材料C-Root SP热牙胶充填对根管治疗后根尖周病变愈合的效果。方法纳入2022年6月至2024年6月期间在本院接受根管治疗的患者90例,根据随机数字表法分为3组:C-Root SP+热牙胶充填组(C-Root SP组)、i-Root SP+热牙胶充填组... 目的评估生物陶瓷材料C-Root SP热牙胶充填对根管治疗后根尖周病变愈合的效果。方法纳入2022年6月至2024年6月期间在本院接受根管治疗的患者90例,根据随机数字表法分为3组:C-Root SP+热牙胶充填组(C-Root SP组)、i-Root SP+热牙胶充填组(i-Root SP组)、AH Plus+热牙胶充填组(AH Plus组)。通过比较3组患者的治疗后充填效果、视觉模拟评分(VAS)疼痛评分、牙周状态、咀嚼效率及临床有效率,评估不同充填技术的效果。结果C-Root SP、i-Root SP组恰填率均高于AH Plus组(χ^(2)=6.67,P=0.010;χ^(2)=4.81,P=0.028),C-Root SP组与i-Root SP组的充填效果对比,恰填率、欠填率及超填率差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。治疗后第1天C-Root SP组患者VAS评分均低于i-Root SP和AH Plus组,差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗后,C-Root SP组患者的出血指数和菌斑指数均低于AH Plus组,C-Root SP组的菌斑指数低于i-Root SP组,差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。C-Root SP组与i-Root SP组治疗后咀嚼效率均高于AH Plus组,差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。随访记录各组患者治疗后1周、3个月的临床有效率,3组治疗后1周、3个月的临床有效率差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论C-Root SP热牙胶充填效果与i-Root SP热牙胶充填效果相当,生物陶瓷材料C-Root SP热牙胶充填技术应用于根管治疗能显著提升根尖周病变愈合效果,减轻患者术后疼痛感,并优化充填质量,具有较高的临床应用价值和推广意义。 展开更多

目的:探讨C-Root SP单尖充填技术和AH Plus糊剂联合热牙胶充填技术在根管治疗中的效果。方法:选择芜湖市第一人民医院口腔科2024年1~9月符合纳入标准的164例根管治疗患者,81例采用C-Root SP单尖充填技术,83例采用AH Plus糊剂联合热牙胶... 目的:探讨C-Root SP单尖充填技术和AH Plus糊剂联合热牙胶充填技术在根管治疗中的效果。方法:选择芜湖市第一人民医院口腔科2024年1~9月符合纳入标准的164例根管治疗患者,81例采用C-Root SP单尖充填技术,83例采用AH Plus糊剂联合热牙胶充填技术,比较两组根管充填时间、根管充填质量(X线片观察糊剂是否超充)及术后24 h、1周后疼痛程度。结果:C-Root SP组根管充填时间[(46.94±12.30)s]低于AH Plus组[(124.88±30.36)s],P<0.001。C-Root SP组患者24 h内疼痛发生率(4.94%)低于AH Plus组(16.88%),P<0.05。两组根管充填封闭剂充填质量和治疗术后1周疼痛差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论:采用C-Root SP单尖充填技术和AH Plus糊剂联合热牙胶充填技术进行根管治疗均可取得一定临床疗效,但C-Root SP单尖充填术后短期疼痛程度缓解效果较好且能有效缩短根管治疗时间。 展开更多
