REPU utilizes the residual energy available in the nodes and the re-ceived signal strength of the nodes to identify the best possible route to the destination. Reliability is achieved by selecting a number of intermediate nodes as waypoints and the route is divided into smaller segments by the waypoints. One distinct ad-vantage of this model is that when a node on the route moves out or fails, instead of discarding the whole original route, only the two waypoint nodes of the broken segment are used to find a new path. REPU outperforms traditional schemes by establishing an energy-efficient path and also takes care of efficient route maintenance. Simulation results show that this routing scheme achieves much higher performance than the classical routing protocols, even in the presence of high node density, and overcomes simul-taneous packet forwarding.展开更多

However, using traditional routing algorithms for data gathering is energy-inefficient for sensor nodes with limited power resources and multi-hop communication protocols. Data gathering with mobile sinks provided an effective solution to this problem. The major drawback of this approach is the time and path constraints of the mobile sink, which limit the mobile sink to collect data from all sensor nodes and, then, data routing is still required for these unreachable parts by the mobile sink. This paper presents a new data gathering algorithm called Connectivity-Based Data Collection (CBDC). The CBDC algorithm utilizes the connectivity between sensor nodes so as to determine the trajectory of the mobile sink whilst satisfying its path constraint and minimizing the number of multi-hop communications. The presented results show that CBDC, in comparison with the LEACH-C algorithm, prolongs the network life time at different connectivity levels of sensor networks, varying number of sensor nodes and at different path constraints of the mobile sink.展开更多

Sensors acquire samples of physical data and send them to a destination node in different topologies. Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems showed good utilization of channel characteristics. In MIMO Sensor Network, multiple signals are transmitted from the sensors and multiple sensors are used as receiving nodes. This provides each sensor multiple copies of the transmitted signal and hence, array processing techniques helps in reducing the effects of noise. In this paper we devise the use of MIMO sensor network and array decision techniques to reduce the noise effect. The proposed system uses a transmission time diversity to form the MIMO system. If the number of sensors is large then groups of sensors will form the MIMO system and benefited from the diversity to reduce the required transmitted power from each sensor. Enhancing the BER reduce the required transmitted power which results in longer battery life for sensor nodes. In this paper, we propose and investigate an effective method to utilize Received Signal Strength (RSS) for measuring scour depth where acoustic sensors are deployed. We also extend a statistical testing to determine the difference in signal levels at the sensor nodes prior to and after scour formation and subsequently determine the actual depth of scour. Additionally, we make an attempt to evaluate underwater distance and depth using signal strength perceived at the receiver which makes it free from the requirement of accurate receiver-sender synchronization in contrast to Time of Flight (ToF) or Time of Arrival (ToA) techniques. The scour depths are eventually compared for the conditions when the bottom is composed of a single or multiple layers. The simulation results clearly show that different depths are calculated for the case of multilayered bottom (0.8 to 3.9 meters for instance) as compared to a constant depth of 2 meters for the case of a single layered bottom.展开更多

Many efforts have been made to estimate the radio coverage of sensor nodes. The existing approaches (often RSSI measurement-based), however, suffer from heavy measurement cost and are not well suitable for the large-scale densely deployed WSNs. NRC-Map, a novel algorithm is put forward for sensor nodes radio coverage mapping. The algorithm is based on the RSSI values collected by the neighbor nodes. According to the spatial relationship, neighbor nodes are mapping to several overlapped sectors. By use of the least squares fitting method, a log-distance path loss model is established for each sector. Then, the max radius of each sector is computed according to the path loss model and the given signal attenuation threshold. Finally, all the sectors are overlapped to estimate the node radio coverage. Experimental results show that the method is simple and effectively improve the prediction accuracy of the sensor node radio coverage.展开更多

文摘Wireless Sensor Network(WSNs)consists of a group of nodes that analyze the information from surrounding regions. The sensor nodes are responsible for accumulating and exchanging information.Generally, node local-ization is the process of identifying the target node’s location. In this research work,a Received Signal Strength Indicator(RSSI)-based optimal node localization approach is proposed to solve the complexities in the conventional node localization models.Initially, the RSSI value is identified using the Deep Neural Network(DNN).The RSSI is conceded as the range-based method and it does not require special hardware for the node localization process, also it consumes a very minimal amount of cost for localizing the nodes in 3D WSN.The position of the anchor nodes is fixed for detecting the location of the target.Further, the optimal position of the target node is identified using Hybrid T cell Immune with Lotus Effect Optimization algorithm(HTCI-LEO).During the node localization process, the average localization error is minimized, which is the objective of the optimal node localization. In the regular and irregular surfaces, this hybrid algorithm effectively performs the localization process. The suggested hybrid algorithm converges very fast in the three-dimensional(3D)environment.The accuracy of the proposed node localization process is 94.25%.
