文摘Vegetation plays a major role in soil protection against erosion effects, and studies have also highlighted its importance in retaining sediments from roadside slopes.Yet,hydro-sedimentological studies under natural precipitation conditions are still scarce in semi-arid areas due to difficulties in monitoring the few and very concentrated precipitation events.Quantifying sediment connectivity and yield at watershed scale, often highly impacted by the erosion of unpaved roads,is necessary for management plans. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of native vegetation on roadside slope segments in Caatinga biome in retaining sediments and conserving the soil in a semi-arid area of Brazil.Surface runoff, sediment concentration, and yield measurements were measured from 34 natural precipitation events in four years on two slopes with and without vegetation. The runoff coefficients of the plot with no vegetation varied from 3.0%to 58.0%,while in the vegetated plot, they showed variation from 1.0%to 21.0%.The annual specific sediment yield ranged from 4.6 to 138.7 kg/(hm^(2)•a)for the vegetated plot and from 34.9 to 608.5 kg/(hm^(2)•a)for the unvegetated one. These results indicate a 4 to 12 times higher soil loss on the unvegetated slope in relation to the vegetated one and demonstrate that natural Caatinga vegetation acts as an effective barrier against surface-transported sediments. Moreover, natural Caatinga vegetation present on the slope plays an important role in breaking connectivity between sediment flows from unpaved roads and the watershed drainage system. These findings indicate that investments in unpaved road and roadside slope restoration, not only enhance road infrastructure but also promote environmental gains by reducing the impact of erosion.

文摘Road Traffic Accidents(RTAs)pose significant threats to public safety and urban infrastructure. While numerous studies have addressed this issue in other countries, there remains a notable gap in localized RTA research in Sri Lanka. In this context, the present study investigates the spatial and temporal patterns of RTAs in theMatara urban area in 2023,with the goal of supporting evidence-based policy interventions.A suite of GIS-based spatial analysis techniques including hotspot analysis, kernel density estimation,GiZ score mapping, and spatial autocorrelation(Moran’s I=0.36,p<0.01)was applied to examine the distribution and contributing factors of RTAs.The results identified several high-risk zones, particularly along the Colombo-Wellawaya main road,as well as near the southern expressway exit, and around Rahula Junction, which collectively accounted for over 40% of all recorded accidents. These areas are characterized by high traffic volumes, complex road geometries, and significant pedestrian activity.Driverrelated behaviors were dominant causes, with negligence accounting for 57% of accidents, aggressive driving for 14%,and alcohol influence for 8%.Temporally,the highest incidence of RTAs(38%)was recorded during the afternoon peak hours(11:00 a.m.to 4:59 p.m.).Based on these findings, targeted policy measures such as enhanced traffic enforcement, infrastructure redesign, and public awareness campaigns are recommended to reduce accident frequency and improve road safety in high-risk areas. This study provides a localized,data-driven framework that can guide urban traffic planning and safety interventions in Matara and similar urban settings.
文摘Since ancient times,China and Iran, two ancient civilizations with profound medical traditions, have engaged in extensive medical interactions through trade and cultural exchange channels, such as the Silk Road. The paper first reviews the emergence of medical exchanges between the two countries during the Han dynasty, then elaborates on the in-depth development of medical exchanges from the Three Kingdoms to the eve of the Tang dynasty.Entering the Song and Yuan dynasties, the medical exchanges between the two countries became more specific, involving the translation and dissemination of medical classics, the exchanges between doctors, and the trade and cultivation of medicinal materials. The paper further examines the new opportunities and challenges presented by traditional medical exchanges between the two countries under the Belt and Road Initiative. It emphasizes the contribution of this cross-civilization medical exchange to the development of the medical systems of both sides and to human health. This article reveals its far-reaching significance by systematically examining the historical context of medical exchanges between the two countries. It provides historical references and inspiration for future in-depth cooperation between the two countries in traditional medicine.

文摘As energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative continues to deepen, both traditional and new energy projects require a diverse range of talents in fields such as engineering technology, management, environmental protection, and finance. However, the current talent supply faces structural deficiencies, including a lack of international perspective among local talent,a shortage of interdisciplinary talents, and an inadequate framework for transnational mobility and educational cooperation, which severely constrains project implementation efficiency.
