Because of the time-varying and space-varying characters of underwater acoustics environment, the sonar images have poor quality and serious speckle noise, so traditional image segmentation is unable to achieve precise segmentation. In the paper, the image segmentation process based on MRF (Markov random field) model is studied, and a practical method of estimating model parameters is proposed. Through analyzing the impact of chosen model parameters, a sonar imagery segmentation algorithm based on fixed parameters’ MRF model is proposed. Both of the segmentation effect and the low computing load are gained. By applying the algorithm to the synthesized texture image and actual side-scan sonar image, the algorithm can be achieved with precise segmentation result.展开更多

This RFQ adopts a high-frequency window-type structure. To study its RF properties and to validate the reliability of an electromagnetic simulation, two full-length aluminum models with tuners were built in succession. RF measurements were obtained from the test bench and compared to the simulations, including frequencies, quality factors, and electric fields of different modes and the field in aperture. Through field tuning, the maximal field unflatness for a single quadrant and the average asymmetry of four quadrants were reduced from 8.7% and ± 3.6% to 5.8% and ± 1.7%, respectively. Moreover, a tuning method of adjusting the gap distance between the endplates and the vanes was also studied in this paper.展开更多

In precision applications, multipath errors dominate the total error because observables, which are used to estimate carrier-phase integer ambiguity, are not always subject to a Gaussian distribution when dualfrequency ambiguity estimation methods are used in the presence of multipath. As it has been shown that ranging observables obey a Gaussian mixture distribution, this study proposes improvements to the accuracy of estimation based on multipath mitigation founded on the Gaussian mixture model. To this end, such a model is created for integer ambiguity resolution in the presence of multipath, using which the theoretical error in dual-frequency ambiguity estimation is derived.Expectation Maximization(EM), which aids dual-frequency ambiguity estimation, is subsequently proposed to reduce the effect of multipath errors. Finally, two experimental scenarios are implemented to test the performance of the proposed method. The results show that EM-aided dualfrequency ambiguity estimation reduces the range error to approximately 20% in comparison with simple dual-frequency ambiguity estimation. Therefore the proposed technique is effective for multipath mitigation in RF relative measurement.展开更多

The influence of the secondary electron emission on the plasma characteristics in the discharges is investigated numerically by the model. The results show that as the secondary electron emission coefficient increases, the cycle-averaged electric field has almost no change; the cycle-averaged electron temperature in the bulk plasma almost does not change, but it increases in the two sheath regions; the cycle-averaged ionization rate, electron density, electron current density, ion current density, and total current density all increase. Also, the cycle-averaged secondary electron fluxes on the surfaces of the electrodes increase as the secondary electron emission coefficient increases. The evolutions of the electron flux, the secondary electron flux and the ion flux on the powered electrode increase as the secondary electron emission coefficient increases. The cycle-averaged electron pressure heating, electron Ohmic heating, electron heating, and ion heating in the two sheath regions increase as the secondary electron emission coefficient increases. The cycle-averaged electron energy loss increases with increasing secondary electron emission coefficient.展开更多

The test structure developed in [1] is employed to directly access the characteristics of the substrate to extract the different substrate components. A methodology is developed to directly extract the parameters for the substrate network from the measured data. By using the measured two-port data of a set of nMOSFETs with different number of fingers, with the DNW in grounded and float configuration, respectively, the parameters of the scalable substrate model are obtained. The method and the substrate model are further verified and validated by matching the measured and simulated output admittances. Excellent agreement up to 40 GHz for configurations in common-source has been achieved.展开更多
