Diverse volume fractions(1%, 2%, and 3%) of Al_(2)O_(3)-water nanofluids are meticulously prepared and analyzed. The essential physical properties of these nanofluids, critical for evaluating their thermal and flow characteristics, have been comprehensively assessed. From a quantitative perspective, numerical simulations are employed to predict the Nusselt number(Nu) and friction factor(f). The empirical findings reveal intriguing trends: the friction factor experiences an upward trend with diminishing velocity, attributed to heightened molecular cohesion. Conversely, the friction factor demonstrates a decline with diminishing volume fractions, a consequence of reduced particle size. Both the nanofluid's viscosity and heat transfer coefficient exhibit a rise in tandem with augmented volume flow rate and concentration gradient. Notably, the simulation results harmonize remarkably well with experimental data. Rigorous validation against prior studies underscores the robust consistency of these outcomes. In the pursuit of augmenting heat transfer, a volume fraction of 3% emerges as particularly influential, yielding an impressive 53.8% enhancement. Minor increments in the friction factor, while present, prove negligible and can be safely overlooked.展开更多

文摘Two-dimensional nanofluidic membranes have garnered considerable interest due to their potential for cost-effective osmotic energy harvesting. One promising approach to enhancing ion conductivity and selectivity is the incorporation of vip additives. However, the traditional host-vip configuration can undermine the structural integrity of nanochannels owing to the inconsistent size and shape of these additives.Drawing inspiration from the intricate design of biological protein channels, which utilize small amino acid molecules as vips,we have addressed this issue by incorporating glycine,a common amino acid, into a vermiculite membrane using a simple vacuum-assisted infiltration method. The resulting vermiculite-glycine membrane demonstrates 1.8 times greater ionic conductivity and twice the power density compared to pure vermiculite membranes.Analysis based on glycine content, coupled with spectroscopic examination, reveals that ion conductivity is linked to the distribution of glycine molecules across three specific sites within the membrane. This suggests that glycine molecules—whether confined in voids, adsorbed onto nanochannel surfaces,or intercalated within multilayered vermiculite nanoparticles—enhance nanofluidic ion transport by modulating surface and space charge density,as well as strengthening hydrogen bonding, electrostatic interactions, and steric effects. This work reveals the specific interactions between amino acids and vermiculite, offering a novel path for advancing nanofluidic composite membranes and highlighting critical considerations for the proposed strategy.

文摘A solvothermal approach was used to generate N-doped graphene oxide quantum dots(NGOQDs)using MoS_(2) and Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposites.Through the use of TEM,XRD,Raman,ATR-FTIR,and XPS,the produced composites'shape, composition, and structure were described.Tribological behavior and lubrication properties of NGOQDsMoS_(2) and NGOQDs-Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposites as additive in nanofluids during hot roll cladding of copper and steel were studied and rolling lubrication mechanism was disclosed. The outcome demonstrates that tribological performance may be greatly enhanced by combining NGOQDs,and surface quality of the rolled copper and steel, and the addition of NGOQDs-MoS_(2) and NGOQDs-Al_(2)O_(3)nanoparticles can further improve the hot-rolling lubrication properties. The tribofilm, formed through the tribochemically induced lubrication process, significantly enhances the wear and corrosion resistance of rolled copper and steel surfaces.
文摘The present study investigates the flow, heat, and mass transfer analysis in the bioconvection of nanofluid containing motile gyrotactic microorganisms through a semi-porous curved oscillatory channel with a magnetic field. These microorganisms produce density gradients by swimming, which induces macroscopic convection flows in the fluid. This procedure improves the mass and heat transfer, illustrating the interaction between biological activity and fluid dynamics.Furthermore, instead of considering traditional Fourier's and Fick's law the energy and concentration equations are developed by incorporating Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion theory. Moreover,to examine the influence of thermophoresis and Brownian diffusions in the fluid we have adopted the Buongiorno nanofluid model.Due to the oscillation of the surface of the channel, the mathematical development of the considered flow problem is obtained in the form of partial differential equations via the curvilinear coordinate system. The convergent series solution of the governing flow equations is obtained after applying the homotopy analysis method(HAM).The effects of different pertinent flow parameters on velocity, motile microorganism density distribution, concentration, pressure, temperature, and skin friction coefficient are examined and discussed in detail with the help of graphs and tables. It is observed during the current study that the density of microorganisms is enhanced for higher values of Reynolds number,Peclet number, radius of curvature variable, and Lewis number.

文摘Fluid dynamic research on rectangular and trapezoidal fins is aimed at increasing heat transfer by means of large surfaces. The trapezoidal cavity form is compared with its thermal and flow performance, and it is revealed that trapezoidal fins tend to be more efficient, particularly when material optimization is critical.Motivated by the increasing need for sustainable energy management, this work analyses the thermal performance of inclined trapezoidal and rectangular porous fins utilising a unique hybrid nanofluid. The effectiveness of nanoparticles in a working fluid is primarily determined by their thermophysical properties;hence, optimising these properties can significantly improve overall performance. This study considers the dispersion of Graphene Oxide(GO)and Molybdenum Disulfide in the base fluid, engine oil.Temperature profiles are analysed by altering the radiative, porosity, wet porous, and angle of inclination parameters.Surface and contour plots are constructed by using the Lobatto IIIa Collocation Method with BVP5C solver in MATLAB and Gradient Descent Optimisation to predict the combined heat transfer rate.According to the study, fluid temperature consistently decreases when the angle of inclination, wet porous parameter, porosity parameter, and radiative parameter increase, suggesting significantly improved heat dissipation. The trapezoidal fin consistently exhibits a superior heat transfer mechanism than a rectangular fin.It is found that the trapezoidal fin transmits heat at a rate that is 0.05%higher than that of the rectangular fin.Validation of the present study is done through the comparison of previous studies. This research provides useful design insights for sophisticated engineering uses, including electrical cooling devices, heat exchangers, radiators, and solar heaters.

文摘The flow of a tetra-hybrid Casson nanofluid(Al_(2)O_(3)-CuO-TiO_(2)-Ag/H_(2)O)over a nonlinear stretching sheet is investigated. The Buongiorno model is used to account for thermophoresis and Brownian motion, while thermal radiation is incorporated to examine its influence on the thermal boundary layer. The governing partial differential equations(PDEs)are reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations(ODEs)with fully non-dimensional similarity transformations involving all independent variables. To solve the obtained highly nonlinear system of differential equations,a novel Clique polynomial collocation method is applied. The analysis focuses on the effects of the Casson parameter, power index, radiation parameter, thermophoresis parameter,Brownian motion parameter, and Lewis number. The key findings show that thermal radiation intensifies the thermal boundary layer, the Casson parameter reduces the velocity, and the Lewis number suppresses the concentration with direct relevance to polymer processing, coating flows, electronic cooling, and biomedical applications.

文摘A high-order hybrid numerical framework is developed by coupling a three-stage exponential time integrator with a Runge–Kutta scheme for the efficient solution of partial differential equations involving first-order time derivatives. The proposed scheme attains third-order temporal accuracy and is rigorously validated through stability and convergence analyses for both scalar and coupled systems. Its effectiveness is demonstrated by simulating unsteady Eyring-Prandtl non-Newtonian nanofluid flow over a Riga plate with coupled heat and mass transfer under electromagnetic actuation. The physical model accounts for Brownian motion and thermophoresis, and the nanofluid considered is a Prandtl-type non-Newtonian base fluid containing suspended nanoparticles, with heat and mass transport governed by coupled momentum, energy, and concentration equations.Numerical simulations are performed over practically relevant parameter ranges, with the Reynolds number fixed at Re=5 and the Prandtl number set to Pr=3 to represent moderate inertial and thermal diffusion effects typical of nanofluid transport systems. To enhance computational efficiency,an artificial neural network(ANN)-based surrogate model is developed to predict the skin friction coefficient and local Sherwood number as functions of Reynolds number,Prandtl number,Schmidt number,Brownian motion, and thermophoresis parameters. The training dataset is generated entirely from high-fidelity numerical simulations produced by the proposed hybrid scheme. The data are systematically partitioned into 70%for training,15%for validation, and 15%for testing, ensuring reliable generalization.Regression analysis yields a near-unity correlation coefficient(R≈0.99),while error histograms exhibit tightly clustered residuals around zero, confirming high predictive accuracy.Furthermore,a benchmark convergence study using Stokes’first problem demonstrates that the proposed scheme consistently achieves lower global error norms than the classical Runge–Kutta method for identical spatial and temporal resolutions.Overall, this study introduces a novel computational intelligence framework that integrates high-order numerical solvers with machine learning, offering a robust and time-efficient tool for advanced modeling and real-time prediction of non-Newtonian nanofluid transport phenomena under electromagnetic flow control.
文摘The present study focuses on the flow of a yield-stress(Bingham)nanofluid,consisting of suspended Fe3O4 nanoparticles, subjected to a magnetic field in a backward-facing step duct(BFS)configuration. The duct is equipped with a cylindrical obstacle, where the lower wall is kept at a constant temperature. The yield-stress nanofluid enters this duct at a cold temperature with fully developed velocity. The aim of the present investigation is to explore the influence of flow velocity(Re=10 to 200),nanoparticle concentration(ϕ=0 to 0.1),magnetic field intensity(Ha=0 to 100),and its inclination angle(γ=0 to 90)and nanofluid yield stress(Bn=0 to 20)on the thermal and hydrodynamic efficiency inside the backward-facing step. The numerical results have been obtained by resolving the momentum and energy balance equations using the Galerkin finite element method. The obtained results have indicated that an increase in Reynolds number and nanoparticle volume fraction enhances heat transfer. In contrast,a significant reduction is observed with an increase in Hartmann and Bingham numbers, resulting in quasi-immobilization of the fluid under the magnetic influence and radical solidification of this type of fluid, accompanied by the suppression of the vortex zone downstream of the cylindrical obstacle. This study sheds light on the complexity of this magnetically influenced fluid, with potential implications in various engineering and materials science fields.

文摘This study numerically examines the heat and mass transfer characteristics of two ternary nanofluids via converging and diverg-ing channels.Furthermore, the study aims to assess two ternary nanofluids combinations to determine which configuration can provide better heat and mass transfer and lower entropy production, while ensuring cost efficiency. This work bridges the gap be-tween academic research and industrial feasibility by incorporating cost analysis, entropy generation, and thermal efficiency. To compare the velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles,we examine two ternary nanofluids,i.e.,TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O and TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Cu/H_(2)O,while considering the shape of nanoparticles. The velocity slip and Soret/Dufour effects are taken into consideration.Furthermore, regression analysis for Nusselt and Sherwood numbers of the model is carried out.The Runge-Kutta fourth-order method with shooting technique is employed to acquire the numerical solution of the governed system of ordinary differential equations. The flow pattern attributes of ternary nanofluids are meticulously examined and simulated with the fluc-tuation of flow-dominating parameters.Additionally, the influence of these parameters is demonstrated in the flow, temperature, and concentration fields. For variation in Eckert and Dufour numbers,TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O has a higher temperature than TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Cu/H_(2)O.The results obtained indicate that the ternary nanofluid TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O has a higher heat transfer rate, lesser entropy generation, greater mass transfer rate, and lower cost than that of TiO_(2)+SiO_(2)+Cu/H_(2)O ternary nanofluid.

文摘Achieving broadband solar thermal absorption via dilute nanofluids is still a daunting challenge since the absorption peaks of common metal particles are usually located in the visible part of the radiation spectrum. This paper aims to present the results of experimental investigations on the thermal performance of heat pipe-type evacuated solar collectors. The experimented system consists of 15 tubes, providing the hot nanofluid to 100-L storage in a closed flow loop. The solar collector with a gross area of 2.1 m^(2)is part of the solar hot water test system located in Baghdad-Iraq.Al2O3 nanofluid at 0.5%volume concentration in water as working fluid was used in three flow rates of 3.3,6.6,and 10 L/min over two months,March and April. The experimental results indicated that maximum solar irradiation was 1070 and 1270 W/m^(2)in March and April, respectively. The maximum daily average of rate heat gain 11,270 and 12,040 W was recorded in March and April, respectively. In terms of the best operational flow rate, the system performs better at 3.3 L/min nanofluid flow rate. For the considered study period, the average monthly maximum energy efficiencies of the solar collector in March and April were 86%and 80%,respectively.
文摘This article aims tomodel and analyze the heat and fluid flow characteristics of a carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)nanofluid within a convergent-divergent shaped microchannel(Two-dimensional).The base fluid,water+CMC(0.5%),is mixed with CuO and Al2O3 nanoparticles at volume fractions of 0.5%and 1.5%,respectively.The research is conducted through the conjugate usage of experimental and theoretical models to represent more realistic properties of the non-Newtonian nanofluid.Three types of microchannels including straight, divergent, and convergent are considered, all having the same length and identical inlet cross-sectional area.Using ANSYS FLUENT software,Navier-Stokes equations are solved for the laminar flow of the non-Newtonian nanofluid. The study examines the effects of Reynolds number, nanoparticle concentration and type, and microchannel geometry on flow and heat transfer. The results prove that the alumina nanoparticles outperform copper oxide in increasing the Nusselt number at a 0.5% volume fraction, while copper oxide nanoparticles excel at a 1.5%volume fraction. Moreover,in the selected case study,as the Reynolds number increases from 100 to 500,the Nusselt number rises by 56.26% in straight geometry,52.93% in divergent geometry, and 59.10%in convergent geometry.Besides, the Nusselt number enhances by 18.75% when transitioning from straight to convergent geometry at a Reynolds number of 500,and by 19.81%at a Reynolds number of 1000.Finally,the results of the research depict that the use of thermophysical properties derived from the experimental achievements, despite creating complexity in the modeling and the solution method, leads to more accurate and realistic outputs.

文摘This study investigates the heat transfer and flow dynamics of a ternary hybrid nanofluid comprising alumina, copper, and silica/titania nanoparticles dispersed in water. The analysis considers the effects of suction, magnetic field, and Joule heating over a permeable shrinking disk.Amathematicalmodel is developed and converted to a systemof differential equations using similarity transformation which then, solved numerically using the bvp4c solver in Matlab software. The study introduces a novel comparative analysis of alumina-copper-silica and alumina-coppertitania nanofluids, revealing distinct thermal conductivity behaviors and identifying critical suction values necessary for flow stabilization.Dual solutions are found within a specific range of parameters such that the minimum required suction values for flow stability, with S_(c)=1.2457 for alumina-copper-silica/water and S_(c)=1.2351 for alumina-coppertitania/water.The results indicate that increasing suction by 1%enhances the skin friction coefficient by up to 4.17%and improves heat transfer efficiency by approximately 1%,highlighting its crucial role in stabilizing the opposing flow induced by the shrinking disk.Additionally, the inclusion of 1%silica nanoparticles reduces both skin friction and heat transfer rate by approximately 0.28%and 0.85%,respectively,while 1%titania concentration increases skin friction by 3.02%but results in a slight heat transfer loss of up to 0.61%.These findings confirm the superior thermal performance of alumina-copper-titania/water,making it a promising candidate for enhanced cooling systems,energy-efficient heat exchangers, and industrial thermal management applications.
文摘This study delves into both experimental and analytical examinations of heat exchange in a straight channel, where Al_(2)O_(3)-water nanofluids are utilized, spanning the Reynolds number spectrum from 100 to 1800. Minor increments in the friction factor, while present, prove negligible and can be safely overlooked.
文摘This study explores the bioconvective behavior of a Reiner-Rivlin nanofluid, accounting for spatially varying thermal properties. The flow is considered over a porous, stretching surface with mass suction effects incorporated into the transport analysis. The Reiner-Rivlin nanofluid model includes variable thermal conductivity, mass diffusivity, and motile microorganism density to accurately reflect realistic biological conditions.Radiative heat transfer and internal heat generation are considered in the thermal energy equation, while the Cattaneo-Christov theory is employed to model non-Fourier heat and mass fluxes. The governing equations are non-dimensionalized to reduce complexity, and a numerical solution is obtained using a shooting method.Parametric studies are conducted to examine the influence of key dimensionless parameters on velocity, temperature, concentration, and motile microorganism profiles. The results are presented through a series of graphs, offering insight into the dynamic interplay between physical mechanisms affecting heat and mass transfer in non-Newtonian bioconvective nanofluid systems.
文摘This study investigates laminar convection in three regimes(forced convection, mixed convection, and natural convection)of a bi-nanofluid(Cu-Al_(2)O_(3)-water)/mono-nanofluid(Al_(2)O_(3)-water)inside a square enclosure of sliding vertical walls which are kept at cold temperature and moving up,down,or in opposite directions. The enclosure bottom is heated partially by a central heat source of various sizes while the horizontal walls are considered adiabatic. The thermal conductivity and dynamic viscosity are dependent on temperature and nanoparticle size. The conservation equations are implemented in the solver ANSYS R2(2020).The numerical predictions are successfully validated by comparison with data from the literature.Numerical simulations are carried out for various volume fractions of solid mono/hybrid-nanoparticles(0≤ϕ≤5%),Richardson numbers(0.001≤Ri≤10),and hot source lengths((1/5)H≤ε≤(4/5)H).Isothermal lines, streamlines, and average Nusselt numbers are analyzed. The thermal performance of nanofluids is compared to that of the base heat transfer fluid(water).Outcomes illustrate the flow characteristics significantly affected by the convection regime, hot source size, sidewall motion, and concentration of solid nanoparticles. In the case of sidewalls moving downward, using hybrid nanofluid(Cu-Al_(2)O_(3)-water)shows the highest heat transfer rate in the enclosure at Ri=1,ε=(4/5)H and volume fraction ofφ=5%where a significant increment(25.14%)of Nusselt number is obtained.
