Background: Few studies have considered the impact of demographic and clinical variables on help received respectively from services and relatives to satisfy needs of adults with severe mental disorders (SMD). Purpose...Background: Few studies have considered the impact of demographic and clinical variables on help received respectively from services and relatives to satisfy needs of adults with severe mental disorders (SMD). Purposes: To identify major needs receiving help and, using the Andersen’s Behavioural Model of Health Service Use, to identify and compare predisposing, enabling and need factors associated with help given respectively by services and relatives. Methods: 352 adults with SMD from Montreal (Canada) were interviewed using six standardized instruments. Clinical records were consulted. Multiple linear regression analyses were processed to measure level of help received from relatives and services. Results: Factors significantly associated with help from relatives were: higher number of perceived needs;fewer diagnoses;better community functioning;being younger, and in a conjugal relationship;living autonomously;having social support and better quality of life;and, marginally, being an immigrant. Factors significantly associated with help from services were: higher number of perceived needs, better quality of life, supervised housing, adjustment disorder and schizophrenia. Conclusions: Help overall is insufficient to meet users’ needs. Services are more helpful than relatives, in particular regarding health needs. Comparatively to help from services, help from relatives is associated with predisposing factors like age, marital status and nationality.展开更多
Many existing studies have considered the factors influencing review helpfulness,mainly focusing on reviewer impact,review informativeness,and managerial response,based on signaling theory.However,previous studies hav...Many existing studies have considered the factors influencing review helpfulness,mainly focusing on reviewer impact,review informativeness,and managerial response,based on signaling theory.However,previous studies have simply regarded these factors as independent signals,thus ignoring their in-depth transmission and reception processes.The conclusions about the impact of reviewers on review helpfulness are also inconsistent due to the inaccurate measure-ment of variables.To fill the above gaps,we followed the signaling timeline theoretical framework used in signaling the-ory and employed a bootstrapping analysis to examine how reviewer impact,review informativeness,and hotel manageri-al responses interact to influence review helpfulness.In this study,we used a unique dataset that included official labels from one leading online travel agency.The results show that reviewer impact may affect review helpfulness sequentially through review informativeness and hotel managerial response.Furthermore,by using official labels,both reviewer expert-ise and reviewer experience significantly affect review helpfulness.Finally,we discussed the theoretical and practical im-plications of these findings.展开更多

With the gradual improvement of the university academic system, college students have an increasing demand for comprehensive services and resource sharing platforms. The Decision of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made arrangements for deepening the comprehensive reform of education, proposing to “strengthen the coordination of science and technology education and humanities education”. This paper takes the WeChat official account “Classmates Ask” as the basic platform, and aims to analyze how the platform integrates multiple functions such as learning guidance, career planning, life help, and social interaction, and uses advanced Internet technology architecture to build the integration of science and technology-humanities education.展开更多
The study examined work engagement and coping strategies in the relationship between abusive supervision and helping behaviors among hospitality employees.Participants were 386 frontline hospitality employees(50.8%fem...The study examined work engagement and coping strategies in the relationship between abusive supervision and helping behaviors among hospitality employees.Participants were 386 frontline hospitality employees(50.8%females;38.9%with 1–5 years of experience;78.3%in the 18–40 age range).They self-reported coping strategies,abusive supervision,work engagement,and helping behaviors.Structural equation model results showed that abusive supervision to be associated with lower employee helping behaviors.Work engagement was higher with employees’helping behaviors.Engaged employees would unleash helping behaviors.Work engagement mediated the relationship between abusive supervision and helping behaviors,lowering the abusive supervision risk.Finally,avoidance of contact exacerbated the moderated abusive supervision–work engagement relationship for lower work engagement,while support-seeking and reframing exerted no moderation role.Findings suggest that avoiding an immediate supervisor exacerbates abusive supervision.Hence,applying behavior-based interviews when hiring supervisors would be of strategic advantage to employees’productivity.展开更多
This study examined how perceived human-computer interaction(HCI)is related to employees’helping behaviors with role breadth self-efficacy and digital fluency.An online scenario experiment(study 1;female=61.3%;mean a...This study examined how perceived human-computer interaction(HCI)is related to employees’helping behaviors with role breadth self-efficacy and digital fluency.An online scenario experiment(study 1;female=61.3%;mean age=30.79 years;bachelor’s degree=68.7%)and a questionnaire survey(study 2;male=44.2%;younger than 30 years=50.6%;bachelor’s degree=61.5%)found that perceived HCI exerts a significant positive indirect effect on employee helping behavior through improved role breadth self-efficacy.This positive indirect effect is stronger when employee digital fluency is high.Findings are consistent with social cognitive theory,which proposes that the relationship among environment,individual cognition,and behavior is mutually determined,and the influence of environment on individual behavior varies with individual characteristics.The findings imply a need for employer organizations to create favorable human-computer interaction environment for employees’digital fluency to promote role breadth self-efficacy and helping behavior in the digital age.展开更多
This study investigated the relationship between social anxiety and problematic Internet use in college students,and how it is moderated by attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help.Participants were 14...This study investigated the relationship between social anxiety and problematic Internet use in college students,and how it is moderated by attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help.Participants were 1451 Chinese college students(female=60.2%;mean age=19.85 years,SD=1.89 years).They completed the Interaction Anxiousness Scale,the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale-Short Form,and the Problematic Internet Use Scale.The results revealed that college students with higher social anxiety reported greater severity of problematic Internet use.Moreover,students with negative attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help also reported greater severity of problematic Internet use.Notably,attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help moderated the relationship between social anxiety and problematic Internet use in college student,such that the relationship was weakened when attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help was positive.These findings suggest a need for student development and support programs for promoting openness to seeking professional psychological help if with problematic Internet use from social anxiety.展开更多
