In this paper,characteristics of spatial and temporal variation of linear fitting goodness before some moderately strong earthquakes(Ms≥5.0)in the eastern part of China(east of longitude 180)are studied according to ...In this paper,characteristics of spatial and temporal variation of linear fitting goodness before some moderately strong earthquakes(Ms≥5.0)in the eastern part of China(east of longitude 180)are studied according to the famous Gutenberg-Richter’s relation expressed as lgN=a-bM,by using the moderate and small events that occurred in and around the source area.The results show that the linear goodness of fitting varies abnormally prior to these moderately strong earthquakes.In the early stage of the earthquake preparatory process,distribution of the energy released through small events in and around the source area is isostatic and the fitting goodness approximates 1,while the distribution of the energy turns to be isostatic before moderately strong earthquakes,leading to the obvious decrease of the linear goodness of fitting.This phenomenon could be a medium term anomaly and a medium term criterion for moderately strong earthquake prediction.展开更多

A new six-parameter continuous distribution called the Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz (GKGPG) distribution is proposed in this study, a graphical illustration of the probability density function an...A new six-parameter continuous distribution called the Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz (GKGPG) distribution is proposed in this study, a graphical illustration of the probability density function and cumulative distribution function is presented. The statistical features of the Generalized Kumaraswamy Generalized Power Gompertz distribution are systematically derived and adequately studied. The estimation of the model parameters in the absence of censoring and under-right censoring is performed using the method of maximum likelihood. The test statistic for right-censored data, criteria test for GKGPG distribution, estimated matrix Ŵ, Ĉ, and Ĝ, criteria test Y<sup>2</sup>n</sub>, alongside the quadratic form of the test statistic is derived. Mean simulated values of maximum likelihood estimates and their corresponding square mean errors are presented and confirmed to agree closely with the true parameter values. Simulated levels of significance for Y<sup>2</sup>n</sub> (γ) test for the GKGPG model against their theoretical values were recorded. We conclude that the null hypothesis for which simulated samples are fitted by GKGPG distribution is widely validated for the different levels of significance considered. From the summary of the results of the strength of a specific type of braided cord dataset on the GKGPG model, it is observed that the proposed GKGPG model fits the data set for a significance level ε = 0.05.展开更多

The least squares (OLS) residuals are often used to construct test statistics;in order to overcome the non-independent and identically residuals, the best linear unbiased scale (BLUS) residuals are applied in this paper, which, unlike OLS residuals, the residuals vector is identically and independently distributed. Based on the BLUS residuals, a new test statistic is constructed by using the sample random distance between sample quantile and quasi sample quantile derived from the null distribution, and the goodness-of-fit test of error distribution in the linear model is studied. The powers of the new tests under certain alternatives are examined. They are more powerful tests for the hypotheses concerned.展开更多

This study empirically examines how land finance in destination and origin cities affects willingness to engage in labor mobility and explores the underlying mechanisms.Using a two-way fixed effects model,we match mac...This study empirically examines how land finance in destination and origin cities affects willingness to engage in labor mobility and explores the underlying mechanisms.Using a two-way fixed effects model,we match macro data from 287 prefecture-level cities in China from 2000 to 2020 with data from the 2018 China Migrant Dynamic Survey(CMDS).The results are as follows:First,land finance in destination cities inhibits labor mobility willingness,while land finance in origin cities and labor mobility willingness have a U-shaped relationship,decreasing initially and then increasing.Second,local governments’dependence on land finance increases local housing prices and suppresses investment in non-economic public goods in the administrative area,thereby inhibiting labor mobility willingness;however,this also increases investment in economic public goods,attracting labor mobility willingness.Third,labor force age weakens the impact of land finance in origin cities on labor mobility willingness;however,age does not affect the impact of land finance in destination cities on labor mobility willingness.Fourth,land finance increases laborers’willingness to settle.展开更多
The Good Wife is an American TV series that focuses on women’s independence,politics,and law.The drama has been remade in China,Japan,and South Korea.This research aims to use Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory to...The Good Wife is an American TV series that focuses on women’s independence,politics,and law.The drama has been remade in China,Japan,and South Korea.This research aims to use Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory to analyze the methods of its English-to-Chinese subtitle translation by considering social,cultural,and historic backgrounds between China and America.After data collection and case analysis,the study found that:(1)Five major translation methods are adopted in the subtitle translation of The Good Wife.They are free translation,variation,literal translation,addition,and omission.Among them,free translation is the most frequently used,while omission is used least.(2)The subtitle translation of films and TV series is limited by time and space restrictions,social-cultural differences,and other factors.When translating,translators should try to use humorous words,euphemism,intonation,and other ways,and combine different methods such as literal translation,free translation,variation,addition,omission,and other methods to seek equivalence both in the meaning and function of subtitles under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory.展开更多
