Accurate prediction of xylem phenology is essential for evaluating the long-term impacts of climate change on carbon sequestration,forest productivity,and ecosystem resilience.However,the environmental controls on xyl...Accurate prediction of xylem phenology is essential for evaluating the long-term impacts of climate change on carbon sequestration,forest productivity,and ecosystem resilience.However,the environmental controls on xylem phenology remain poorly clarified in terms of quantification,particularly for broadleaf species and the process of growth cessation.In this study,we monitored the onset and cessation of wood formation in 19 temperate tree species over periods of up to six years(2019–2024,with observation length varying among species)to assess the impact of environmental changes on the timing of wood formation.Linear mixed-effects models were used to evaluate and quantify the relative importance of photoperiod,forcing,chilling,precipitation,SPEI(standardized precipitation-evapotranspiration index),cold degree days,and MAT(mean annual temperature)to the onset and cessation of wood formation.Photoperiod and forcing temperature were identified as the key drivers of wood formation onset,while photoperiod was the primary factor regulating its cessation.Wood formation onset was less sensitive to photoperiod compared with cessation,but exhibited greater sensitivity to temperature.Conifers were more responsive to changes in day length at onset than broadleaf species,while broadleaf species appeared to rely solely on photoperiod to regulate the cessation,with conifers showing additional modulation by temperature.Moreover,ring-porous species exhibited stronger photoperiodic control of both onset and cessation than diffuse-porous species.These findings highlight the critical role of photoperiod,temperature,or their interactions in regulating xylem phenology,providing insights for improving process-based models that predict xylem growth dynamics.展开更多

Temperature is a key meteorological factor that affects tropospheric ozone(O_(3)),with both humid-heat(sauna days)and dry-heat(roast days)conditions leading to O_(3) exceedances.However,the mechanisms influencing O_(3...Temperature is a key meteorological factor that affects tropospheric ozone(O_(3)),with both humid-heat(sauna days)and dry-heat(roast days)conditions leading to O_(3) exceedances.However,the mechanisms influencing O_(3) formation and degradation under these two weather conditions remain unclear.Therefore,experiments were conducted in Beijing from 2019 to 2021 to observe O_(3),its precursors,and related meteorological elements.A total of 18 days with O_(3) exceedances were selected,including 10 sauna days and 8 roast days.The results of this study revealed that on roast days,the sensible heat flux was 143.5 W/m^(2) greater and the wind speed gradient was 0.018 s^(-1) greater than those on sauna days,indicating more intense thermal and dynamic turbulence.The strong turbulence enhanced the vertical cycle of nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))and O_(3),resulting in a 58.2μg/(m^(2)·h)increase in NO_(2) upward transport rate and a 1034.4μg/(m^(2)·h)increase in O_(3) downward transport rate on roast days than sauna days.Subsequently,a box model analysis was used to examine O_(3) formation under the two types of weather conditions,revealing that the NO_(2)-O_(3) vertical cycling speed dominated the O_(3) sensitivity.The O_(3) sensitivity was synergistically controlled by nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))and volatile organic compounds on sauna days,while it tended to be NO_(x)-limited on roast days.The aim of this study was to provide a scientific theoretical basis for the control of O_(3) under different types of high temperature weather conditions.展开更多

Unlike annual flowering plants that exhibit a single reproductive cycle encompassing vegetative growth,flowering,and senescence within a single year,perennial woody trees undergo a transition between vegetative and re...Unlike annual flowering plants that exhibit a single reproductive cycle encompassing vegetative growth,flowering,and senescence within a single year,perennial woody trees undergo a transition between vegetative and reproductive growth every year after a long juvenile phase.Most woody fruit trees bloom when it turns warm in spring,and the fruit ripens in summer or autumn.However,as a member of the Maloideae subfamily,the loquat tree blooms in the cold autumn and winter,and the fruit matures in the spring.To explore the regulatory mechanism of loquat flowering,we characterized two FLOWERING LOCUS T homologous genes in loquat,EjFT1 and EjFT2.qRT-PCR results revealed that EjFT1 and EjFT2 exhibited nearly opposite expression patterns in various tissues.EjFT1 was mainly expressed in young tissues;EjFT2 was mainly expressed in mature leaves,open flowers,and fruits.EjFT2 exhibited an obvious circadian rhythm and was regulated by EjCO.After the trees were exposed to short-day conditions or sprayed with exogenous GA_(3),the expression of EjFT2 was strongly inhibited,and the loquat tree did not produce floral buds.Furthermore,the yeast two-hybrid,bimolecular fluorescence complementation,and Dualluciferase assay experiments revealed that both EjFT1 and EjFT2 interacted with EjFD,with the EjFT2-EjFD protein complex enhancing the activity of EjAP1-1 and EjAP1-2 promoters,while EjFT1-EjFD inhibited the activity of the EjAP1-1 promoter.Protein structural analysis of EjFT1and EjFT2 suggested that differences in amino acid residues at Val_(123)/Leu_(123),Ser_(157)/Ala_(157),and Val_(158)/Ala_(158)may be the reason for their functional differences.Our results showed that EjFT1 and EjFT2 may cooperatively regulate the floral bud differentiation of loquat by competitively binding with EjFD.EjFT2 regulates the onset of loquat floral bud differentiation by responding to photoperiod and gibberellin signals,while EjFT1 is involved in the vegetative growth of loquat.These findings provide important clues for the investigation of the regulatory mechanism of loquat flowering and advance the exploration into the multiple roles of FT homologous genes in regulating the reproductive transformation and vegetative growth of flowering plants.展开更多
Objective:The day surgery mode has significantly reduced preoperative waiting time for patients.However,this mode also led to brief and sometimes abrupt interactions between patients with vision loss and nursing staff...Objective:The day surgery mode has significantly reduced preoperative waiting time for patients.However,this mode also led to brief and sometimes abrupt interactions between patients with vision loss and nursing staff during the preoperative visits.Additionally,patients may experience negative emotions.The aim of this study was to describe the preoperative experiences and identify related stressful factors among patients waiting vitreo-retinal day surgery.Methods:This study was guided by an interpretive approach.Semi-structured,face-to-face,in-depth interviews were conducted with patients from August 2021 to October 2024.Inductive content analysis and research software were used to analyze the data.Results:Twenty-seven patients agreed to participate the interviews.Their ages ranged from 19 to 70 years old.The waiting time before hospitalization varied from 7 to 90 days.Three main categories emerged from patients’complaints:day surgery procedures,concerns about eye conditions and supports.Conclusions:The findings underscore the importance of preoperative care services.It is suggested that providing accurate preoperative information and effective support can significantly enhance the quality of preoperative care service.展开更多

文摘Unlike annual flowering plants that exhibit a single reproductive cycle encompassing vegetative growth,flowering,and senescence within a single year,perennial woody trees undergo a transition between vegetative and reproductive growth every year after a long juvenile phase.Most woody fruit trees bloom when it turns warm in spring,and the fruit ripens in summer or autumn.However,as a member of the Maloideae subfamily,the loquat tree blooms in the cold autumn and winter,and the fruit matures in the spring.To explore the regulatory mechanism of loquat flowering,we characterized two FLOWERING LOCUS T homologous genes in loquat,EjFT1 and EjFT2.qRT-PCR results revealed that EjFT1 and EjFT2 exhibited nearly opposite expression patterns in various tissues.EjFT1 was mainly expressed in young tissues;EjFT2 was mainly expressed in mature leaves,open flowers,and fruits.EjFT2 exhibited an obvious circadian rhythm and was regulated by EjCO.After the trees were exposed to short-day conditions or sprayed with exogenous GA_(3),the expression of EjFT2 was strongly inhibited,and the loquat tree did not produce floral buds.Furthermore,the yeast two-hybrid,bimolecular fluorescence complementation,and Dualluciferase assay experiments revealed that both EjFT1 and EjFT2 interacted with EjFD,with the EjFT2-EjFD protein complex enhancing the activity of EjAP1-1 and EjAP1-2 promoters,while EjFT1-EjFD inhibited the activity of the EjAP1-1 promoter.Protein structural analysis of EjFT1and EjFT2 suggested that differences in amino acid residues at Val_(123)/Leu_(123),Ser_(157)/Ala_(157),and Val_(158)/Ala_(158)may be the reason for their functional differences.Our results showed that EjFT1 and EjFT2 may cooperatively regulate the floral bud differentiation of loquat by competitively binding with EjFD.EjFT2 regulates the onset of loquat floral bud differentiation by responding to photoperiod and gibberellin signals,while EjFT1 is involved in the vegetative growth of loquat.These findings provide important clues for the investigation of the regulatory mechanism of loquat flowering and advance the exploration into the multiple roles of FT homologous genes in regulating the reproductive transformation and vegetative growth of flowering plants.

文摘Objective:The day surgery mode has significantly reduced preoperative waiting time for patients.However,this mode also led to brief and sometimes abrupt interactions between patients with vision loss and nursing staff during the preoperative visits.Additionally,patients may experience negative emotions.The aim of this study was to describe the preoperative experiences and identify related stressful factors among patients waiting vitreo-retinal day surgery.Methods:This study was guided by an interpretive approach.Semi-structured,face-to-face,in-depth interviews were conducted with patients from August 2021 to October 2024.Inductive content analysis and research software were used to analyze the data.Results:Twenty-seven patients agreed to participate the interviews.Their ages ranged from 19 to 70 years old.The waiting time before hospitalization varied from 7 to 90 days.Three main categories emerged from patients’complaints:day surgery procedures,concerns about eye conditions and supports.Conclusions:The findings underscore the importance of preoperative care services.It is suggested that providing accurate preoperative information and effective support can significantly enhance the quality of preoperative care service.
