BACKGROUND Monkeypox(Mpox),is a disease of global public health concern,as it does not affect only countries in western and central Africa.AIM To assess Burundi healthcare workers(HCWs)s’level of knowledge and confid...BACKGROUND Monkeypox(Mpox),is a disease of global public health concern,as it does not affect only countries in western and central Africa.AIM To assess Burundi healthcare workers(HCWs)s’level of knowledge and confidence in the diagnosis and management of Mpox.METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study via an online survey designed mainly from the World Health Organization course distributed among Burundi HCWs from June-July 2023.The questionnaire comprises 8 socioprofessional-related questions,22 questions about Mpox disease knowledge,and 3 questions to assess confidence in Mpox diagnosis and management.The data were analyzed via SPSS software version 25.0.A P value<0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance.RESULTS The study sample comprised 471 HCWs who were mainly medical doctors(63.9%)and nurses(30.1%).None of the 22 questions concerning Mpox knowledge had at least 50%correct responses.A very low number of HCWs(17.4%)knew that Mpox has a vaccine.The confidence level to diagnose(21.20%),treat(18.00%)or prevent(23.30%)Mpox was low among HCWs.The confidence level in the diagnosis of Mpox was associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.009),sex(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),and residence(P value<0.001).The confidence level to treat Mpox was significantly associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.050),sex(P value<0.001),education(P value=0.033)and occupation(P value=0.005).The confidence level to prevent Mpox was associated with the HCWs’education(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),residence(P value<0.001)and type of work institution(P value=0.003).CONCLUSION This study revealed that HCWs have the lowest level of knowledge regarding Mpox and a lack of confidence in the ability to diagnose,treat or prevent it.There is an urgent need to organize continuing medical education programs on Mpox epidemiology and preparedness for Burundi HCWs.We encourage future researchers to assess potential hesitancy toward Mpox vaccination and its associated factors.展开更多

In order to solve the problem of limited computational resources of multi-unmanned systems airborne navigation platform,a distributed cooperative positioning method based on confidence evaluation is proposed.Firstly,t...In order to solve the problem of limited computational resources of multi-unmanned systems airborne navigation platform,a distributed cooperative positioning method based on confidence evaluation is proposed.Firstly,the impact of ranging error,priori information,spatial geometric configuration and adjacent nodes count on cooperative positioning performance are analyzed individually.Secondly,a confidence evaluation method for measurement information of adjacent nodes is designed according to the cooperative positioning principle,which comprehensively considers the coupling relationship between influencing factors.Finally,a distributed cooperative navigation filter based on inter-vehicle ranging is designed.Simulation studies show that confidence evaluation method proposed in this paper can effectively characterize the contribution of measurement information to positioning results,and positioning accuracy under the proposed method is improved by more than 15%compared with the traditional screening methods based on optimal geometric configuration and closest distance.展开更多
BACKGROUND:In-flight medical emergencies(IMEs)present significant challenges to healthcare professionals,particularly those with limited training or experience in managing such situations.The objective of this study w...BACKGROUND:In-flight medical emergencies(IMEs)present significant challenges to healthcare professionals,particularly those with limited training or experience in managing such situations.The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge,attitudes,and behaviors of licensed doctors in Saudi Arabia concerning IMEs,and to identify the demographic factors influencing their preparedness.METHODS:A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 383 licensed physicians across five regions of Saudi Arabia.Participants completed a self-administered questionnaire assessing demographics,knowledge of IMEs,attitudes towards providing assistance,and previous experience with in-flight emergencies.Data were analyzed using SPSS 26,with statistical significance set at P<0.05.RESULTS:The results revealed a predominantly young(75.8% aged 25-34 years)and male(69.6%)participant pool.While 76.6% of respondents recognized the impact of cabin pressure on oxygen,only 45.4% correctly identified air travel risks for asthmatic patients.Although 66.8% felt confident assisting in IMEs,20.9% cited medicolegal concerns.Moreover,area of working within Saudi Arabia(P=0.020),year of experience(P=0.041),prior experience with IMEs(P=0.021),and IMEs training(P<0.001)had a significant association with levels of knowledge.CONCLUSION:The study highlights a critical need for enhanced training programs with a focus on the management of IMEs among healthcare practitioners in Saudi Arabia.展开更多

Accurate and timely large-scale paddy rice maps with remote sensing are essential for crop monitoring and management and are used for assessing its impacts on food security,water resource management,and transmission o...Accurate and timely large-scale paddy rice maps with remote sensing are essential for crop monitoring and management and are used for assessing its impacts on food security,water resource management,and transmission of zoonotic infectious diseases.Optical image-based paddy rice mapping studies employed the unique spectral feature during the flooding/transplanting period of paddy rice.However,the lack of high-quality observations during the flooding/transplanting stage caused by rain and clouds and spectral similarity between paddy rice and natural wetlands often introduce errors in paddy rice identification,especially in paddy rice and wetland coexistent areas.In this study,we used a knowledge-based algorithm and time series observation from optical images(Sentinel-2 and Landsat 7/8)and microwave images(Sentinel-1)to address these issues.The final 10-m paddy rice map had user’s accuracy,producer’s accuracy,F1-score,and overall accuracy of 0.91±0.004,0.74±0.010,0.82,and 0.98±0.001(±value is the standard error),respectively.Over half(62.0%)of the paddy rice pixels had a confidence level of 1(detected by both optical images and microwave images),while 38.0%had a confidence level of 0.5(detected by either optical images or microwave images).The estimated paddy rice area in northeast China for 2020 was 60.83±0.86×10^(3)km^(2).Provincial and municipal rice areas in our data set agreed well with other existing paddy rice data sets and the Agricultural Statistical Yearbooks.These findings indicate that knowledge-based paddy rice mapping algorithms and a combination of optical and microwave images hold great potential for timely and frequently accurate paddy rice mapping in large-scale complex landscapes.展开更多
Federated learning(FL)is an intricate and privacy-preserving technique that enables distributed mobile devices to collaboratively train a machine learning model.However,in real-world FL scenarios,the training performa...Federated learning(FL)is an intricate and privacy-preserving technique that enables distributed mobile devices to collaboratively train a machine learning model.However,in real-world FL scenarios,the training performance is affected by a combination of factors such as the mobility of user devices,limited communication and computational resources,thus making the user scheduling problem crucial.To tackle this problem,we jointly consider the user mobility,communication and computational capacities,and develop a stochastic optimization problem to minimize the convergence time.Specifically,we first establish a convergence bound on the training performance based on the heterogeneity of users’data,and then leverage this bound to derive the participation rate for each user.After deriving the user-specific participation rate,we aim to minimize the training latency by optimizing user scheduling under the constraints of the energy consumption and participation rate.Afterward,we transform this optimization problem to the contextual multi-armed bandit framework based on the Lyapunov method and solve it with the submodular reward enhanced linear upper confidence bound(SR-linUCB)algorithm.Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed algorithm on the training performance and time consumption compared with stateof-the-art algorithms for both independent and identically distributed(IID)and non-IID settings.展开更多

Semi-supervised clustering techniques attempt to improve clustering accuracy by utilizing a limited number of labeled data for guidance.This method effectively integrates prior knowledge using pre-labeled data.While s...Semi-supervised clustering techniques attempt to improve clustering accuracy by utilizing a limited number of labeled data for guidance.This method effectively integrates prior knowledge using pre-labeled data.While semi-supervised fuzzy clustering(SSFC)methods leverage limited labeled data to enhance accuracy,they remain highly susceptible to inappropriate or mislabeled prior knowledge,especially in noisy or overlapping datasets where cluster boundaries are ambiguous.To enhance the effectiveness of clustering algorithms,it is essential to leverage labeled data while ensuring the safety of the previous knowledge.Existing solutions,such as the Trusted Safe Semi-Supervised Fuzzy Clustering Method(TS3FCM),struggle with random centroid initialization,fixed neighbor radius formulas,and handling outliers or noise at cluster overlaps.A new framework called Active Safe Semi-Supervised Fuzzy Clustering with Pairwise Constraints Based on Cluster Boundary(AS3FCPC)is proposed in this paper to deal with these problems.It does this by combining pairwise constraints and active learning.AS3FCPC uses active learning to query only the most informative data instances close to the cluster boundaries.It also uses pairwise constraints to enforce the cluster structure,which makes the system more accurate and robust.Extensive test results on diverse datasets,including challenging noisy and overlapping scenarios,demonstrate that AS3FCPC consistently achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods like TS3FCM and other baselines,especially when the data is noisy and overlaps.This significant improvement underscores AS3FCPC’s potential for reliable and accurate semisupervised fuzzy clustering in complex,real-world applications,particularly by effectively managing mislabeled data and ambiguous cluster boundaries.展开更多

Critical for metering and protection in electric railway traction power supply systems(TPSSs),the measurement performance of voltage transformers(VTs)must be timely and reliably monitored.This paper outlines a three-s...Critical for metering and protection in electric railway traction power supply systems(TPSSs),the measurement performance of voltage transformers(VTs)must be timely and reliably monitored.This paper outlines a three-step,RMS data only method for evaluating VTs in TPSSs.First,a kernel principal component analysis approach is used to diagnose the VT exhibiting significant measurement deviations over time,mitigating the influence of stochastic fluctuations in traction loads.Second,a back propagation neural network is employed to continuously estimate the measurement deviations of the targeted VT.Third,a trend analysis method is developed to assess the evolution of the measurement performance of VTs.Case studies conducted on field data from an operational TPSS demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in detecting VTs with measurement deviations exceeding 1%relative to their original accuracy levels.Additionally,the method accurately tracks deviation trends,enabling the identification of potential early-stage faults in VTs and helping prevent significant economic losses in TPSS operations.展开更多

Energy limitation of traditional Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)greatly confines the network lifetime due to generating and processing massive sensing data with a limited battery.The energy harvesting WSN is a novel ne...Energy limitation of traditional Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)greatly confines the network lifetime due to generating and processing massive sensing data with a limited battery.The energy harvesting WSN is a novel network architecture to address the limitation of traditional WSN.However,existing coverage and deployment schemes neglect the environmental correlation of sensor nodes and external energy with respect to physical space.Comprehensively considering the spatial correlation of the environment and the uneven distribution of energy in energy harvesting WSN,we investigate how to deploy a collection of sensor nodes to save the deployment cost while ensuring the target perpetual coverage.The Confident Information Coverage(CIC)model is adopted to formulate the CIC Minimum Deployment Cost Target Perpetual Coverage(CICMTP)problem to minimize the deployed sensor nodes.As the CICMTP is NP-hard,we devise two approximation algorithms named Local Greedy Threshold Algorithm based on CIC(LGTA-CIC)and Overall Greedy Search Algorithm based on CIC(OGSA-CIC).The LGTA-CIC has a low time complexity and the OGSA-CIC has a better approximation rate.Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the OGSA-CIC is able to achieve lower deployment cost and the performance of the proposed algorithms outperforms GRNP,TPNP and EENP algorithms.展开更多

文摘Federated learning(FL)is an intricate and privacy-preserving technique that enables distributed mobile devices to collaboratively train a machine learning model.However,in real-world FL scenarios,the training performance is affected by a combination of factors such as the mobility of user devices,limited communication and computational resources,thus making the user scheduling problem crucial.To tackle this problem,we jointly consider the user mobility,communication and computational capacities,and develop a stochastic optimization problem to minimize the convergence time.Specifically,we first establish a convergence bound on the training performance based on the heterogeneity of users’data,and then leverage this bound to derive the participation rate for each user.After deriving the user-specific participation rate,we aim to minimize the training latency by optimizing user scheduling under the constraints of the energy consumption and participation rate.Afterward,we transform this optimization problem to the contextual multi-armed bandit framework based on the Lyapunov method and solve it with the submodular reward enhanced linear upper confidence bound(SR-linUCB)algorithm.Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed algorithm on the training performance and time consumption compared with stateof-the-art algorithms for both independent and identically distributed(IID)and non-IID settings.

文摘Semi-supervised clustering techniques attempt to improve clustering accuracy by utilizing a limited number of labeled data for guidance.This method effectively integrates prior knowledge using pre-labeled data.While semi-supervised fuzzy clustering(SSFC)methods leverage limited labeled data to enhance accuracy,they remain highly susceptible to inappropriate or mislabeled prior knowledge,especially in noisy or overlapping datasets where cluster boundaries are ambiguous.To enhance the effectiveness of clustering algorithms,it is essential to leverage labeled data while ensuring the safety of the previous knowledge.Existing solutions,such as the Trusted Safe Semi-Supervised Fuzzy Clustering Method(TS3FCM),struggle with random centroid initialization,fixed neighbor radius formulas,and handling outliers or noise at cluster overlaps.A new framework called Active Safe Semi-Supervised Fuzzy Clustering with Pairwise Constraints Based on Cluster Boundary(AS3FCPC)is proposed in this paper to deal with these problems.It does this by combining pairwise constraints and active learning.AS3FCPC uses active learning to query only the most informative data instances close to the cluster boundaries.It also uses pairwise constraints to enforce the cluster structure,which makes the system more accurate and robust.Extensive test results on diverse datasets,including challenging noisy and overlapping scenarios,demonstrate that AS3FCPC consistently achieves superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods like TS3FCM and other baselines,especially when the data is noisy and overlaps.This significant improvement underscores AS3FCPC’s potential for reliable and accurate semisupervised fuzzy clustering in complex,real-world applications,particularly by effectively managing mislabeled data and ambiguous cluster boundaries.

文摘Critical for metering and protection in electric railway traction power supply systems(TPSSs),the measurement performance of voltage transformers(VTs)must be timely and reliably monitored.This paper outlines a three-step,RMS data only method for evaluating VTs in TPSSs.First,a kernel principal component analysis approach is used to diagnose the VT exhibiting significant measurement deviations over time,mitigating the influence of stochastic fluctuations in traction loads.Second,a back propagation neural network is employed to continuously estimate the measurement deviations of the targeted VT.Third,a trend analysis method is developed to assess the evolution of the measurement performance of VTs.Case studies conducted on field data from an operational TPSS demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in detecting VTs with measurement deviations exceeding 1%relative to their original accuracy levels.Additionally,the method accurately tracks deviation trends,enabling the identification of potential early-stage faults in VTs and helping prevent significant economic losses in TPSS operations.

文摘Energy limitation of traditional Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)greatly confines the network lifetime due to generating and processing massive sensing data with a limited battery.The energy harvesting WSN is a novel network architecture to address the limitation of traditional WSN.However,existing coverage and deployment schemes neglect the environmental correlation of sensor nodes and external energy with respect to physical space.Comprehensively considering the spatial correlation of the environment and the uneven distribution of energy in energy harvesting WSN,we investigate how to deploy a collection of sensor nodes to save the deployment cost while ensuring the target perpetual coverage.The Confident Information Coverage(CIC)model is adopted to formulate the CIC Minimum Deployment Cost Target Perpetual Coverage(CICMTP)problem to minimize the deployed sensor nodes.As the CICMTP is NP-hard,we devise two approximation algorithms named Local Greedy Threshold Algorithm based on CIC(LGTA-CIC)and Overall Greedy Search Algorithm based on CIC(OGSA-CIC).The LGTA-CIC has a low time complexity and the OGSA-CIC has a better approximation rate.Extensive simulation results demonstrate that the OGSA-CIC is able to achieve lower deployment cost and the performance of the proposed algorithms outperforms GRNP,TPNP and EENP algorithms.
