The outlet flow fields of a low-speed repeating-stage compressor with bowed stator stages are measured with five-hole probe under the near stall condition when the rotor/stator axial gap varies. The performances of the straight stator stages are investigated and compared to those of the bowed stator stages. The results show that using bowed stator stages could alleviate the flow separation at both upper and low corners of the suction surface and the endwalls, and decrease the losses along the flow passage as well as the outlet flow angle. As the rotor/stator axial gap decreases, although the diffusion capacity of the compressor increases obviously, the outlet flow field in the straight stator stages deteriorates quickly. By contrast, little changes occur in the bowed stator stages, indicating that as the rotor/stator axial gap decreases, improved performance is achieved in the bowed stator stages. 展开更多

Based on the investigation of mid-span local boundary layer suction and positive bowed cascade, a coupled local tailored boundary layer suction and positive bowed blade method is developed to improve the performance of a highly loaded diffusion cascade with less suction slot. The effectiveness of the coupled method under different inlet boundary layers is also investigated.Results show that mid-span local boundary layer suction can effectively remove trailing edge separation, but deteriorate the flow fields near the endwall. The positive bowed cascade is beneficial for reducing open corner separation, but is detrimental to mid-span flow fields. The coupled method can further improve the performance and flow field of the cascade. The mid-span trailing edge separation and open corner separation are eliminated. Compared with linear cascade with suction, the coupled method reduces overall loss of the cascade by 31.4% at most. The mid-span loss of the cascade decreases as the suction coefficient increases, but increases as bow angle increases. The endwall loss increases as the suction coefficient increases. By contrast, the endwall loss decreases significantly as the bow angle increases. The endwall loss of coupled controlled cascade is higher than that of bowed cascade with the same bow angle because of the spanwise inverse ‘‘C" shaped static pressure distribution. Under different inlet boundary layer conditions, the coupled method can also improve the cascade effectively. 展开更多

A comparison of the results of a computational simulation and an experimental measurement indicates a good agreement between them: the bowed blade lowers the energy loss coefficient of engine by 11% in the simulation and by 13% in the measurement. To further discuss the application conditions of bowed blade in compressor, with incidence equal to zero and other boundary conditions unchanged, a computational investigations on four series of linear stators with different aerofoil turning angles are achieved. It is found that the bowed blade has much positive effect in high airfoil turning angle cascade, for example, the optimal retrofit of 30° bow angle highly reduces the energy loss coefficient by 17.9%, when the aerofoil turning angle is 59.5 °. But the optimal retrofit of 15° has only 0.7% reduction when the aerofoil turning angle is 39.5°, or even the compressor performance will get worse with the bow angle gradually increasing. Consequently, it is verified that the turning angle is one of the important factors to decide whether to apply the bowed blade into compressor at low Math number. 展开更多

To improve the performance of the Turbofan engine,several measures should be considered during design process.Such measures,relating to aerodynamic characteristic design,include the maximum enthalpy per stage,the shortest axial length,the minimum blade rows and the highest efficient in design and off design condition.To satisfy theses design characters,the meridian geometry of the engine will be excurvature at a high degree transition part between HP and LP turbines.The study is to investigate the effect of blade bowing on flow loss at blade tip and root of the type of turbine.Such turbine,tending towards separation,with severe secondary flow at the tip and strong radial flow at exit,was simulated by the 3D N-S solver Numerca,and there were several different stacking line bowing schemes in all.The results show that tip negative bowing and root positive bowing is able to weaken radial flow,consequently reduce the flow loss at the tip and root. 展开更多

For comparison, we have studied the effects of bowed blades on the wakes of stator trailing edge and horse shoe vortex in the rotor. It was found that the position of wakes for bowed blades is shifted toward the blade suction side. Also, we have discussed and compared the entropy generation and energy loss caused by dissipation mechanism within the boundary layers on the hub and shroud; and temperature gradient in meridional plane. 展开更多

To investigate the effect of bowed/leaned vane configurations on the aerodynamic performance and aerodynamic excitation in transonic high-pressure turbine, the full three-dimensional viscous unsteady numerical simulation was performed by solving N-S equations based on SAS SST method.The influence of bowed/leaned vanes on turbine efficiency and efficiency fluctuation was investigated. The action of vane modelling to the overall aerodynamic fluctuation level and the amplitude of each vane passing frequency were analyzed. By comparing instantaneous pressure fluctuation contours in the blade passage with space-time maps, the link of the pressure fluctuation on blade surface with flow distortions was achieved, which can reveal the mechanism of the impact of the vane modelling. As the results suggest, the turbine efficiency is promoted with positively leaned and bowed vane modelling, and the fluctuation of stage turbine efficiency is repressed, which contributes to the smooth running of the turbine stage. The blade aerodynamic excitation on the rotor blade is characterized by the motion of vane trailing edge shock system, and the vane configurations can reduce the fluctuation level on the rotor blade surface effectively. For the positively leaned vane configuration, the aerodynamic excitations at the root and tip region are affected by the impact of the amplitude of the first harmonic, whereas they are reduced with the decrease of the amplitude of the second and higher harmonics at midspan. For the positively bowed vane, aerodynamic excitation is repressed by reducing the amplitude of the third harmonic at the root region, and the first harmonic at the tip region, and the amplitude of each harmonic is reduced at the middle region. 展开更多

Due to the serious flow separations and centralized vortices,there are high secondary losses in highly loaded turbines.It is imperative to find measures to control the flow separation and vortices hence improve the turbine performance.This paper reports our recent progress on flow separation and vor-tices control in highly loaded turbine cascades by using bowed blades.Two sets of highly loaded tur-bine cascades with the turning angles of 113° and 160°,and each with 7 bowed blade angles 0°(straight),±10°,±20° and ±30° were experimentally investigated.Both internal flow field measurement and flow visualization on the blade surfaces were conducted,and the effects of blade bowing on the flow topology,distribution of vorticity and the flow energy loss were discussed.The results show that,for the cascade with the turning angle of 113°,the appropriately positive bow angle could reduce the flow energy loss;whereas for the cascade with the turning angle of 160°,the well selected negative bow angle can give the better aerodynamic performance. 展开更多

Flow control methodologies have been widely used to eliminating flow separation and increasing the blade load in axial compressor.Aiming at revealing the flow mechanism of coupled bowed blading and boundary layer suction in a supersonic compressor cascade,a cascade with a diffusion coefficient of 0.62 is numerically presented.First of all,according to the available experimental data,the numerical method was validated;then,different bowed blading effects on flow field in detail were investigated;at last,based on the flow physics of purely bowed blading,the positively bowed blade was coupled with boundary layer suction on blade suction surface,whereas the negatively bowed blade was coupled with endwall suction.For coupled control method,influence mechanism on flow field,especially on the shock structure was revealed,and different aspect ratios of coupled control method were investigated as well.Results showed that the coupled positively bowed blading and suction surface suction can eliminate the flow separation effectively.Compared with that of baseline supersonic cascade,the total pressure loss coefficient of the coupled scheme was reduced by 37.4%at most.At mid-span,the shock moved downstream and the single shock was separated to a dual-shock structure since the positively bowed blading reduced the static pressure of mid-span.The coupled negatively bowed blading and endwall suction also effectively enhanced the performance of cascade by removing the corner separation,with the loss coefficient reduced by as much as 41.9%.However,the suction coefficient of optimal coupled negatively bowed blading scheme reached 10.5%,which is too high for practical use.After coupled control,the 3 D shock structure became“C”shaped distribution along spanwise because of the difference in influence mechanism of negatively bowed blading on different spanwise location.Due to the opposite influence effect of positively and negatively bowed blading,the shock structure in the two different schemes of cascades were different and showed opposite variation trends as aspect ratio increased. 展开更多

Mars Express observations of the stretch effect of mini-magnetospheres formed by crustal fields on the Martian bow shock location

The strong crustal magnetic fields significantly alter the structure of the Martian space environment,including all plasma boundaries.The stretches of mini-magnetospheres formed by crustal fields from the location of the Martian bow shocks were first found from the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN(MAVEN)observations.The present study aims to test whether this effect is also present in the shocks observed by Mars Express(MEX).We find that the bow shocks above the crustal field regions are enlarged,resulting in a north−south asymmetry and a longitude dependence in the shock size.The longitude dependence is more pronounced for near-subsolar shocks,and more dispersed for near-terminator shocks.The enlarged shocks are also observed to have shifted tailward from the longitudes of the strongest crustal fields.Due to a dawnside bias in MEX shock crossings,the enlarged shocks generally display a westward shift from the strongest crustal field region.These results confirm that stretches of the mini-magnetosphere are also present in the MEX shock observations. 展开更多

Observational analyses and convection-permitting simulations are conducted to study an extreme event of damaging surface winds within a bow-shaped squall line over South China.Prevailing explanations for the formation of damaging surface winds were applied to investigate the detailed processes at the mature stage of a squall line in a complicated real-world scenario.It is shown that environmental vertical wind shear was adequately strong to cause a shearing vorticity,and the shearing vorticity was comparable to the baroclinic vorticity by a cold pool.The balance led to strong upward motions at the leading edge of the squall line and brought plenty of rainfall.The descending rainfall cooled the surrounding air and entrained the upper-level cold air downward to the lower level,strengthening the cold pool by excessive evaporation and melting.The cold pool accelerated the propagation speed of the squall line and caused extensive wind damage at the surface.Meanwhile,the horizontal vortex lines at the leading edge of the cold pool were lifted by frontal updrafts and tilted to form the anti-cyclonic vortex at the middle level.This maintained and intensified the rearinflow jet behind the apex of bow echo in association with a notable midlevel pressure gradient.The rear-inflow jet was then transported downward to the surface by descending condensate,leading to damaging winds there.Other factors,such as environmental flows,however,contributed less to the damaging surface winds. 展开更多

This paper gives a general description of the acoustical properties of Chinese bowed string instruments Jinghu and Erhu. The resonator of instrument has been studied by equivalent circuit to show the effect of coupling motion between membrane and resonator tube. From the analysis of motion and waves on the string, an expression for frequency response of vibration of string is given. This response has direct relationship with the reflection coefficient at the bridge. The reflection coefficient has been measured by using impulse method. The frequency characteristics of sound by bowing are dependent on two kinds of motions on the string. A method to obtain the sound spectra for Jinghu and Erhu by playing seven notes is presented in this paper. 展开更多

Wave breaking at the bow of a high-speed ship is of great importance to the hydrodynamic performance of high-speed ships,accompanied by complex flow field deformation.In this study,the smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)method under the Lagrange framework is adopted to simulate the breaking bow wave of the KCS ship model.In order to improve the computational efficiency,the inflow and outflow boundary model is used to establish a numerical tank of current,and a numerical treatment for free surface separation is implemented.Numerical simulations are carried out at Fr=0.35,0.40,0.5,0.6,and different types of wave breaking such as spilling breaker,plunging breaker,and scars are captured by the SPH method,which is consistent with the experimental result,demonstrating that the present SPH method can be robust and reliable in accurately predicting the breaking bow wave phenomenon of high-speed ships.Furthermore,the wave elevation and velocity field in the bow wave region are analyzed,and the evolution of the bow wave breaking is provided. 展开更多

The objective was to determine the frequency of th... Unusual head trauma is rare with various mechanisms of occurrence. The injuries can be similar to those of road accidents but sometimes with significant complexities. The objective was to determine the frequency of this pathology in our practice, describe the different mechanisms and report the craniocerebral lesions caused by this type of trauma. Materials and Method: This was a descriptive study with retrospective collection spread over a period of 3 years. After selecting the files, the patients and/or their companions were contacted by telephone to inquire about them and then returned to the consultation for reassessment. Disease history and information were obtained from patients’ medical records. Result: The frequency of this pathology was 1.78% and his incidence was 0.4 cases per month. The average age of the patients was 13.47 years. All the victims were male. 41.17% of patients were in school. The mechanisms of trauma were the hoof blow 47.1%, the horn blow 29.4% and the stone blow 11.7% respectively. 23.5% of patients were confused and 11.7% children were in coma. One patient presented an anisocoria. The motor deficit was present in 5 cases. CT-scan made it possible to highlight a skull depressing fracture 58.8% and confirm a craniocerebral wound in 35.3%. The average time between patient admission to hospital and completion of surgery was 24.5 hours. The surgery had consisted of the trimming of cranio-cerebral wounds, exploration, duroplasty and lifting of skull depressing fracture. After 15 months of follow-up, the evolution was favorable in 53.3%, the morbidity was 33.4% and the mortality 17.6%. Conclusion: These are rare but serious conditions because they are fatal and disabling. An early and multidisciplinary management can hope to have a good favorable. 展开更多

Characteristics of Bow Echoes During 2011-2020 in Western South China(Guangxi)

Based on previously released data,this paper first presented the criteria for recognizing bow echoes and divided their life cycle into three stages:the development stage,the mature stage,and the attenuation stage.Based on Doppler weather radar data during 2011-2020,43 bow echo events(including 54 individual bow echoes)in western South China were identified.The spatial and temporal distributions,formation and dissipation modes of these bow echoes,and the severe weather they caused were statistically analyzed.The results show that:(1)The bow echo events were unevenly distributed year-to-year,but all occurred from March to July,with the highest in April and May and the lowest in July.The period from night to early morning was found to be the main period for bow echo generation and intensification.(2)A banded area from Hechi City on the southeastern edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau to Wuzhou City in southeast Guangxi was identified as a high-incidence area of bow echoes.The length of bow echoes was correlated with their life cycle.(3)The origins of the bow echoes could be divided into five locations,most of which were in the eastern Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.After entering western South China,their moving paths were categorized into three types,among which most bow echoes moved southeastward,generally because of the effect of cold air.Specifically,bow echoes generally moved eastward when cold air was weak or in the warm zone.Meanwhile,the fewest bow echoes moved northeastward.(4)Four modes of bow echo formation were identified:linearly organized,broken areal,linearly merging,and broken line.Dissipation could also be classified into four types.(5)The probability of convective weather generated by a bow echo was largest in the mature stage. 展开更多

针对常规场景识别方法在室内环境中性能显著下降的问题,提出一种融合全局及显著性区域特征的移动机器人室内场景识别方法.利用改进的Bo W(bag-of-words)模型进行室内场景判别的同时,结合视觉注意方法提取出场景图像的最大及次大显著区域... 针对常规场景识别方法在室内环境中性能显著下降的问题,提出一种融合全局及显著性区域特征的移动机器人室内场景识别方法.利用改进的Bo W(bag-of-words)模型进行室内场景判别的同时,结合视觉注意方法提取出场景图像的最大及次大显著区域,送入改进的BDBN(bilinear deep belief network)模型来自动学习图像特征,进行类别判断.利用分段判别策略对于两个模型的结果进行融合,并输出最终场景判别结果.将本方法应用于实际机器人平台及包含67个类别的MIT室内场景数据库,实验结果表明,相较于常规Bo W模型,本方法可以有效提高识别准确率10%以上.此外,本方法在MIT数据库中达到平均44.3%的准确率,优于相关文献算法. 展开更多

燃气管道事故一旦发生后果大多比较严重。为全面分析燃气管道风险的前因后果,确定重点维护和监控的管段区域,引入了Bow-tie模型,将管道泄漏的故障树与事件树统一到一起对燃气管道进行定量风险评价。采用模糊集相关理论与专家评价相结合... 燃气管道事故一旦发生后果大多比较严重。为全面分析燃气管道风险的前因后果,确定重点维护和监控的管段区域,引入了Bow-tie模型,将管道泄漏的故障树与事件树统一到一起对燃气管道进行定量风险评价。采用模糊集相关理论与专家评价相结合的方法得出管道泄漏的模糊可能值;然后基于模糊层次分析法确定管道泄漏后果因素的权重系数;再通过矩阵乘法求得泄漏后果值。以某段燃气管线为案例,全面识别出各风险因素,量化得到管道各泄漏后果事件的风险值。实际应用结果表明:①该方法可快速合理地评判出管道系统的相对风险大小;②三角模糊数与层次分析法的应用减少了传统评价中主观及模糊因素产生的评价偏差,使得评价结果更接近客观实际;③依据评价结果制订有针对性的预防维护措施,能够实现有限维护资源的合理配置,保障燃气管道的安全可靠运行。 展开更多

图像检索的Bag of Words体系存在量化后的视觉词影响局部特征的辨别能力并且缺乏特征之间空间关系的缺点,影响检索效率。针对复杂背景的目标查询,提出了融合显著性信息的图像检索方法和基于显著特征点空间距离比的后验证方法。首先,提... 图像检索的Bag of Words体系存在量化后的视觉词影响局部特征的辨别能力并且缺乏特征之间空间关系的缺点,影响检索效率。针对复杂背景的目标查询,提出了融合显著性信息的图像检索方法和基于显著特征点空间距离比的后验证方法。首先,提取图像显著目标区域,使用空间金字塔模型进行图像检索。然后,利用查询图像与检索图像匹配的显著特征对,计算任意两对显著特征点的距离比,保留满足阈值的比值,并求和,用以重新排序结果图像,得到最终的检索结果。实验结果表明:该方法显著提高了检索的精确度,并减少了几何验证过程的运算时间。 展开更多
