[Method] Based on the data of annual precipitation in Anyang and Nanyang from 1953 to 2009, the changes of precipitation in Anyang and Nanyang were compared by means of mathematical statistics, regression analysis and wavelet analysis. [Result] In recent 57 years, annual precipitation in Anyang and Nanyang showed decrease trend, especially Anyang with obvious decrease trend; from seasonal variation, average precipitation in spring and winter went up in Anyang and went down in Nanyang, while average precipitation in summer and autumn reduced in two cities; from periodic variation, when the time scale of precipitation in Anyang was 12-15 years, there was a catastrophe point in 1970, and Nanyang had two catastrophe points in 1965 and 1997 when the time scale of precipitation was 15 years and 4 catastrophe points in 1968, 1978, 1987 and 1999 when time scale was 7-10 years. [Conclusion] The study could provide theoretical foundation for the forecast of local climate changes.展开更多
The preliminary experience in the clinical use of Anyang Type 2 esophageal intubation instrument, designed by ourselves, in 11 patients with severe esophageal obstruction due to advanced carcinoma of the esophageal wa...The preliminary experience in the clinical use of Anyang Type 2 esophageal intubation instrument, designed by ourselves, in 11 patients with severe esophageal obstruction due to advanced carcinoma of the esophageal was reported. The diagnosis of all 11 cases was confirmed by bariummeal roentgenography. After intubation, all the patients could take liquid or soft diet by mouth.There was no operative mortality and the patients survived 2 to 14 months (mean5.7 months). All of them could take food by mouth before death. The clinical application proved that the intubation has been a safe and suitable management.展开更多

Green electricity(GE)is of great importance for effectively combating climate change and global Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).The willingness-to-pay(WTP)for GE by end users has great influence on its widespread ...Green electricity(GE)is of great importance for effectively combating climate change and global Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).The willingness-to-pay(WTP)for GE by end users has great influence on its widespread application,especially at the household level.Researchers have analyzed the mechanisms of residents’WTP and predicted how much they could afford for GE.However,most of these studies have focused on developed(affluent)countries and regions,and residents’WTP as well as the corresponding monetary amount of their WTP were not considered together in previous studies.In this study,we try to fill the gap of the inadequate research of residents’WTP in underdeveloped areas through an analysis of the WTP of urban residents in a small Chinese city(Anyang).A total of 274 household-scale samples were collected by face-to-face interviews in December 2019.We found that approximately 60%of respondents gave a positive response to WTP,with an average value of 8.39 yuan per month.Educational attainment,per capita disposable income in the household,the length of residents’time living in urban areas and the rate of neighbors’approval of WTP are all positively correlated with the tendency of the residents’positive response toward WTP.The three factors of per capita disposable income,the rate of neighbors’approval of WTP and the degree of residents’environmental concerns are positively correlated with the amount of residents’WTP.More importantly,we demonstrated the existence of a weak“Herd Effect”in residents’views of WTP.Finally,some suggestions for policymakers are given,such as raising household income through retraining and raising residents’environmental awareness through education and community advertisements.This study also highlights that the widespread application of GE at the household level will be of great assistance to the GE industry overall.Therefore,the rising economic cost of GE should not be shared by the households in the long term.展开更多
Over the last ten to fifteen years,planning and design professionals in the United States and Europe have increasingly been engaged in consulting work in China.Major Architectural & Engineering firms from the Unit...Over the last ten to fifteen years,planning and design professionals in the United States and Europe have increasingly been engaged in consulting work in China.Major Architectural & Engineering firms from the United Kingdom and the United States,for example,have been opening offices in Beijing and Shanghai.Recently,the concern with sustainable urban development and China's policies to alleviate pressures of urbanization has been an engine for commissions for new town plans and city expansion plans across China's provinces.During the 2007-2009 academic years,the School of Planning at the University of Cincinnati prepared a conceptual plan for the expansion of the City of Anyang through a collaborative agreement between the city and it.The experience of the faculty leading this project with field work,the planning process,plan preparation,and the engagement of students has revealed some important issues that need to be addressed by planning schools and planning professionals engaged in planning in provincial China.Thus,this paper is a case study of foreign university involvement in Chinese sustainable new town planning,and the following sections discuss the Anyang Eastern New Town Conceptual Plan,identify the key issues regarding preparing the plan,contracting and payment,data availability,data sharing and field investigation,and finally discuss the lessons learned regarding the planning process,project program and expectations.展开更多
Pollen analysis is one of the best and possible approaches for the quantitative reconstruction of paleobotany and paleoclimate,and discrimination of human activities.In this paper,we reveal the characteristics of poll...Pollen analysis is one of the best and possible approaches for the quantitative reconstruction of paleobotany and paleoclimate,and discrimination of human activities.In this paper,we reveal the characteristics of pollen assemblages in different agricultural units and their spatial distribution of major pollen taxa in the Anyang area where the human influences are serious,so as to get more information about climate change and human activities from pollen records.The pollen assemblages of total 122 surface soil samples from different agricultural units (farm lands,vegetable plots,wastelands,cape-lands,woodlands,etc.) indicate that herbaceous pollen dominates the pollen assemblages with an average of 73%,mainly from Poaceae,Artemisia,Chenopodiaceae and Cruciferae;arboreal pollen percentages reach 18%,mainly from Pinus and Ulmus;shrub pollen and fern spores have very low percentages.In general,pollen assemblages are consistent with vegetation composition,though some differences also exist in different agricultural units.In farmlands and vegetable lands,Poaceae pollen has the highest percentages (averaging 27%) compared to other agricultural units with dominant corn or wheat pollen,while in wastelands and woodlands,arboreal and Artemisia pollen percentages have higher values (averaging 20% and 19% respectively).Cruciferae has the highest pollen percentages (70%) in rape-lands.Both pollen assemblages and PCoA can generally identify the vegetable plots,farmlands,woodlands,wastelands,and rape-lands.Pinus and Artemisia pollens mainly appear in the western part of Anyang,which is consistent with the parent plants;Poaceae pollen mainly exist in the eastern part with more farmlands;Chenopodiaceae pollen mainly appear in the urban areas and near major roads where human influences are stronger,Cruciferae pollen can mainly be found in the urban area and in the northwest part of Anyang where more vegetables are planted.展开更多
