Neutral beam injection is one of the effective auxiliary heating methods in magnetic-confinementfusion experiments. In order to acquire the suppressor-grid current signal and avoid the grid being damaged by overheating, a data acquisition and over-current protection system based on the PXI(PCI e Xtensions for Instrumentation) platform has been developed. The system consists of a current sensor, data acquisition module and over-current protection module. In the data acquisition module,the acquired data of one shot will be transferred in isolation and saved in a data-storage server in a txt file. It can also be recalled using NBWave for future analysis. The over-current protection module contains two modes: remote and local. This gives it the function of setting a threshold voltage remotely and locally, and the forbidden time of over-current protection also can be set by a host PC in remote mode. Experimental results demonstrate that the data acquisition and overcurrent protection system has the advantages of setting forbidden time and isolation transmission. 展开更多

The existing current break protection cannot achieve full-line current protection and may lose its protection capability. Therefore, a self-adjusted full-line current protection strategy based on a double-layer criterion is proposed. The first layer of the criterion adopts the adaptive adjustment threshold as the setting value to realize full-line fault monitoring, which is not affected by the system operation mode and fault type. The second layer is used to locate the fault section of the line and improve the selectivity of the protection strategy. Considering the difficulty in accurately identifying high-resistance ground faults using current protection, an identification method based on compound power is proposed by analyzing the zero-sequence network of the system. Simulation results show that the proposed protection strategy can realize full-length line protection and the effective identification of high-resistance ground faults and is not affected by the system load variation and fault type. 展开更多

Stainless steels such as STS 304,316 and 630 are frequently used as shaft materials in small fiber reinforced polymer(FRP) fishing boats.If the shaft material is exposed to a severely corrosive environment such as seawater,it should be protected using appropriate methods.The impressed current cathodic protection was used to inhibit corrosion in shaft materials.In anodic polarization,passivity was remarkably more evident in STS 316 stainless steel than in STS 304 and STS 630.The pitting potentials of STS 304,316,and 630 stainless steels were 0.30,0.323,and 0.260 V,respectively.The concentration polarization due to oxygen reduction and activation polarization due to hydrogen generation were evident in the cathodic polarization trends of all three stainless steeds.STS 316 had the lowest current densities in all potential ranges,and STS 630 had the highest.Tafel analysis showed that STS 316 was the most noble in the three.In addition,the corrosion current density was the lowest for STS 316. 展开更多

We present a comparison of data obtained during testing of lightning protective system of a residential structure in rocket-triggered lightning experiment at the International Center for Lightning Research and Testing(ICLRT)at Camp Blanding,Florida,and current surge generator experiment at Rzeszow University of Technology in Poland.Three different configurations of LPS were tested in Poland with the dc grounding resistances of the entire system 4.09 Ω(LPS 1a),1.65 Ω(LPS 1b),and 2.88 Ω(LPS 2).For LPS 1a with three ground rods the value of the peak current entering the electrical circuit neutral was about 56% of the injected current peak,and for LPS 1b with two additional ground rods and two 5 m long buried horizontal conductors it was about 16%.For LPS 2 with five ground rods interconnected by a buried loop conductor this ratio was 21%.The current waveshapes in the ground rods differed from the injected current waveshapes and the current waveshapes in other parts of the test system,especially,for poorer-grounding LPS 1a.The surge-generator results are consistent with those of triggered-lightning experiments at Camp Blanding,Florida(DeCarlo et al.,2008 [2]). 展开更多

This paper systematically analyzes the transfer characteristics of the Rogowski-coil Current Transformer and its effect on protective relaying through theoretical analysis, experiments and simulations. The frequency characteristics and transient characteristics of Rogowski transducer and Rogowski-coil Current Transformer are deeply analyzed based on the physical structure of the transformer.?It is revealed that broad bandwidth of the transformer can improve the performance of protective relaying, and the bandwidth is determined mainly by the parameters of the Rogowski transducer and signal processing circuits. It is also discovered that the measurement errors of transient current mainly depend on the abilities for the current transformer to reproduce an accurate replica of the decaying dc components, which is mainly decided by the decay time constant of the aperiodic component of transient current and the parameters of the integral unit. Finally, some measures are proposed for the performance improvement of Rogowski-coil Current Transformer to meet the requirements of protective relaying system in terms of structural design and testing standards. 展开更多

Mitigation of Distributed Generation Impact on Protective Devices in a Distribution Network by Superconducting Fault Current Limiter

Protection of radial distribution networks is widely based on coordinated inverse time overcurrent relays (OCRs) ensuring both effectiveness and selectivity. However, the integration of distributed generation (DG) into an existing distribution network not only inevitably increases fault current levels to levels that may exceed the OCR ratings, but it may also disturb the original overcurrent relay coordination adversely effecting protection selectivity. To analyze the potentially adverse impact of DG on distribution system protective devices with respect to circuit breaker ratings and OCR coordination fault current studies are carried out for common reference test system under the influence of additional DG. The possible advantages of Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) as a means to limit the adverse effect of DG on distribution system protection and their effectiveness will be demonstrated. Furthermore, minimum SFCL impedances required to avoid miss-operation of the primary and back-up OCRs are determined. The theoretical analysis will be validated using the IEEE 13-bus distribution test system is used. Both theoretical and simulation results indicate that the proposed application of SFCL is a viable option to effectively mitigate the DG impact on protective devices, thus enhancing the reliability of distribution network interfaced with DG. 展开更多

By theoretically analyzing transmission characteristics of multi type current transformers and their influence factors, we study the dynamic model testing method of multi type current transformers for the bus, and design 3 kinds of testing schemes by making the equivalent model based on the field of P-level current transformer, TPY-level current transformer and electronic current transformer, and build the hybrid operation testing platform of multi type current transformers. Finally, we compare and analyze the transmission characteristics difference of multi type current transformers on the same branch and the characteristics difference of hybrid operation in two successive external faults, analyze the cause behind the differences, and put forward the corresponding improvement measures. 展开更多

换流变是高压直流输电系统中的核心设备,决定着直流输电系统的安全稳定运行。近年来,有多起因换流变分接开关故障导致的换流变损毁、直流停运事故发生。从继电保护角度看,传统换流变保护配置方案反应换流变分接开关故障存在速动性差、... 换流变是高压直流输电系统中的核心设备,决定着直流输电系统的安全稳定运行。近年来,有多起因换流变分接开关故障导致的换流变损毁、直流停运事故发生。从继电保护角度看,传统换流变保护配置方案反应换流变分接开关故障存在速动性差、灵敏度不足的问题。本文在研究换流变分接开关故障机理的基础上,提出一种换流变分接开关的专用保护方案。该方案同时采集并利用换流变电气量和非电气量信息,引入正弦信号半周绝对值积分算法,由计及换流变挡位信息的快速差动保护判据和非电气量检测判据共同构成。理论分析和仿真实验结果表明,该保护方案在不降低可靠性的前提下,其动作速度相对传统换流变保护快15 ms,可解决当前因换流变分接开关故障切除时间过长而导致的换流变损毁问题。 展开更多

为改善光伏控制策略对配电网线路保护的影响,提出一种基于故障分量电流幅值、相位和谐波含量信息的新型差动保护方案。配电网发生短路故障时,针对故障的不同类型和过渡电阻大小,分析光伏并网内外环控制信号的响应规律,进一步结合变流器... 为改善光伏控制策略对配电网线路保护的影响,提出一种基于故障分量电流幅值、相位和谐波含量信息的新型差动保护方案。配电网发生短路故障时,针对故障的不同类型和过渡电阻大小,分析光伏并网内外环控制信号的响应规律,进一步结合变流器比例-积分环节的控制作用,推导光伏输出电流故障分量的基波和2、3次谐波解析表达式,构建多频段电流源并联输出的光伏等效模型;综合多种故障分量信息,在低过渡电阻下利用故障分量基频的幅值-相位特征构建保护判据,在高过渡电阻下再融合故障分量的2、3次谐波含量信息提高保护的抗过渡电阻能力,最终实现光伏控制特性和差动保护方案设计的融合。在Matlab中搭建仿真模型进行验证,结果表明,保护方案能够适应不同故障场景,且具有耐受过渡电阻能力强的特点。 展开更多

The Power Quality (PQ), security, reliability etc., are the prime objectives of the power system. The protection is developed in such a way that it should be selective, fast, reliable and the cost effective. The study about the islanding protection in Low Voltage (LV) CIGRE distribution and networks like this has been proposed in this paper. This is achieved by developing the protection against the short circuit faults which might appear at the Medium Voltage (MV) bus. The protection of the network with significant penetration of the Distributed Generations (DGs) is a complicated process. The DG units which are directly connected to the grid such as synchronous or induction generators contribute large short power, whereas the DG units which are connected to the grid via inverters carry small amount of the short circuit power. This creates the problems in the protection of the network. If the proper protection coordination measures have not been taken, it might cause the mal-function of the protection devices which put the portion of the power network into the security threats. The selection of the islanding protection devices in this paper is made to protect the network against bi-directional currents at the time of short circuit fault. The LV CIGRE distribution network will enter into islanding if a fault is cleared at the MV bus by the proposed islanding protection devices. It is therefore, essential to detect the islanding in the CIGRE power network. The detection of the island in this network is another major objective of this paper. The detection of the island is proposed by using the technique which is based on the voltage phase angle difference.
