In this method, the rGF is defined on a set of random states and is efficiently calculated by projecting onto Krylov subspace. With the rGF method, the Fermi–Dirac operator can be obtained directly, avoiding the polynomial expansion to Fermi–Dirac function. To demonstrate the applicability, we implement the rGF method with the density-functional tight-binding method. It is shown that the Krylov subspace can maintain at small size for materials with different gaps at zero temperature, including H_(2)O and Si clusters. We find with a simple deflation technique that the rGF self-consistent calculation of H_(2)O clusters at T = 0 K can reach an error of~ 1 me V per H_(2)O molecule in total energy, compared to deterministic calculations. The rGF method provides an effective stochastic method for large-scale electronic structure simulation.展开更多

It is shown that a random variable shape parameter strategy can improve the accuracy of approximating higher order derivatives with Radial Basis Function methods. The method is used to solve fourth order boundary value problems. The use and location of ghost points are examined in order to enforce the extra boundary conditions that are necessary to make a fourth-order problem well posed. The use of ghost points versus solving an overdetermined linear system via least squares is studied. For a general fourth-order boundary value problem, the recommended approach is to either use one of two novel sets of ghost centers introduced here or else to use a least squares approach. When using either ghost centers or least squares, the random variable shape parameter strategy results in significantly better accuracy than when a constant shape parameter is used.展开更多

Then, we focus on giving the convergence of the one-point large deviations rate function (LDRF) of the spatial FDM, which is about the asymptotical limit of a parametric variational problem. The main idea for proving the convergence of the LDRF of the spatial FDM is via the Γ-convergence of objective functions. This relies on the qualitative analysis of skeleton equations of the original equation and the numerical method. In order to overcome the difficulty that the drift coefficient is not one-sided Lipschitz continuous, we derive the equivalent characterization of the skeleton equation of the spatial FDM and the discrete interpolation inequality to obtain the uniform boundedness of the solution to the underlying skeleton equation. These play important roles in deriving the T-convergence of objective functions.展开更多

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of infinite transversely isotropic poroelasticity under a fluid source, based on Biot's theory, aiming to uncover new and previously unexplored insights in the literature. We begin our study by deriving a general solution for fluid-saturated, transversely isotropic poroelastic materials in terms of harmonic functions that satisfy sixth-order homogeneous partial differential equations, using potential theory and Almansi's theorem. Based on these general solutions and potential functions, we construct a Green's function for a point fluid source, introducing three new harmonic functions with undetermined constants. These constants are determined by enforcing continuity and equilibrium conditions. Substituting these into the general solution yields fundamental solutions for poroelasticity that provide crucial support for a wide range of project problems. Numerical results and comparisons with existing literature are provided to illustrate physical mechanisms through contour plots. Our observations reveal that all components tend to zero in the far field and become singular at the concentrated source. Additionally, the contours exhibit rapid changes near the point fluid source but display gradual variations at a distance from it. These findings highlight the intricate behavior of the system under point liquid loading, offering valuable insights for further research and practical applications.展开更多

文摘Ab initio modeling of dynamic structure factors(DSF)and related density response properties in the warm dense matter(WDM)regime is a challenging computational task. The DSF,convolved with a probing X-ray beam and instrument function,is measured in X-ray Thom-son scattering(XRTS)experiments, which allow the study of electronic structure properties at the microscopic level.Among the various ab initio methods,linear-response time-dependent density-functional theory(LR-TDDFT)is a key framework for simulating the DSF.The standard approach in LR-TDDFT for computing the DSF relies on the orbital representation.A significant drawback of this method is the unfavorable scaling of the number of required empty bands as the wavenumber increases, making LR-TDDFT impractical for modeling XRTS measurements over large energy scales, such as in backward scattering geometry. In this work,we consider and test an alternative approach to LR-TDDFT that employs the Liouville–Lanczos(LL)method for simulating the DSF of WDM.This approach does not require empty states and allows the DSF at large momentum transfer values and over a broad frequency range to be accessed. We compare the results obtained from the LL method with those from the solution of Dyson’s equation using the standard LR-TDDFT within the projector augmented-wave formalism for isochorically heated aluminum and warm dense hydrogen.Additionally,we utilize exact path integral Monte Carlo results for the imaginary-time density-density correlation function(ITCF)of warm dense hydrogen to rigorously benchmark the LL approach. We discuss the application of the LL method for calculating DSFs and ITCFs at different wavenumbers, the effects of pseudopotentials, and the role of Lorentzian smearing. The successful validation of the LL method under WDM conditions makes it a valuable addition to the ab initio simulation landscape, supporting experimental efforts and advancing WDM theory.

文摘We report a linear-scaling random Green's function(rGF) method for large-scale electronic structure calculation. The rGF method provides an effective stochastic method for large-scale electronic structure simulation.

文摘This study proposes an effective method to enhance the accuracy of the Differential Quadrature Method(DQM)for calculating the dynamic characteristics of functionally graded beams by improving the form of discrete node distribution.Firstly, based on the first-order shear deformation theory, the governing equation of free vibration of a functionally graded beam is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations with respect to beam axial displacement, transverse displacement, and cross-sectional rotation angle by considering the effects of shear deformation and rotational inertia of the beam cross-section.Then,ignoring the shear deformation of the beam section and only considering the effect of the rotational inertia of the section, the governing equation of the beam is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations with respect to beam transverse displacement.Based on the differential quadrature method theory, the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of standard generalized algebraic equations. Finally, the first several natural frequencies of the beam can be calculated. The feasibility and accuracy of the improved DQM are verified using the finite element method(FEM)and combined with the results of relevant literature.

文摘With the continuous advancement in topology optimization and additive manufacturing(AM)technology, the capability to fabricate functionally graded materials and intricate cellular structures with spatially varying microstructures has grown significantly. However,a critical challenge is encountered in the design of these structures–the absence of robust interface connections between adjacent microstructures, potentially resulting in diminished efficiency or macroscopic failure.A Hybrid Level Set Method(HLSM)is proposed, specifically designed to enhance connectivity among non-uniform microstructures, contributing to the design of functionally graded cellular structures. The HLSM introduces a pioneering algorithm for effectively blending heterogeneous microstructure interfaces.Initially,an interpolation algorithm is presented to construct transition microstructures seamlessly connected on both sides.Subsequently, the algorithm enables the morphing of non-uniform unit cells to seamlessly adapt to interconnected adjacent microstructures. The method, seamlessly integrated into a multi-scale topology optimization framework using the level set method, exhibits its efficacy through numerical examples, showcasing its prowess in optimizing 2D and 3D functionally graded materials(FGM)and multi-scale topology optimization. In essence, the pressing issue of interface connections in complex structure design is not only addressed but also a robust methodology is introduced, substantiated by numerical evidence, advancing optimization capabilities in the realm of functionally graded materials and cellular structures.

文摘Functionally graded materials(FGMs)are a novel class of composite materials that have attracted significant attention in the field of engineering due to their unique mechanical properties. This study aims to explore the dynamic behaviors of an FGM stepped beam with different boundary conditions based on an efficient solving method.Under the assumptions of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the governing differential equations of an individual FGM beam are derived with Hamilton’s principle and decoupled via the separation-of-variable approach. Then, the free and forced vibrations of the FGM stepped beam are solved with the transfer matrix method(TMM).Two models,i.e.,a three-level FGM stepped beam and a five-level FGM stepped beam, are considered, and their natural frequencies and mode shapes are presented. To demonstrate the validity of the method in this paper, the simulation results by ABAQUS are also given. On this basis, the detailed parametric analyses on the frequencies and dynamic responses of the three-level FGM stepped beam are carried out.The results show the accuracy and efficiency of the TMM.

文摘To quantify the seismic resilience of buildings,a method for evaluating functional loss from the component level to the overall building is proposed, and the dual-parameter seismic resilience assessment method based on postearthquake loss and recovery time is improved.A threelevel function tree model is established, which can consider the dynamic changes in weight coefficients of different category of components relative to their functional losses.Bayesian networks are utilized to quantify the impact of weather conditions, construction technology levels, and worker skill levels on component repair time.A method for determining the real-time functional recovery curve of buildings based on the component repair process is proposed.Taking a three-story teaching building as an example, the seismic resilience indices under basic earthquakes and rare earthquakes are calculated. The results show that the seismic resilience grade of the teaching building is comprehensively judged as GradeⅢ,and its resilience grade is more significantly affected by postearthquake loss. The proposed method can be used to predict the seismic resilience of buildings prior to earthquakes, identify weak components within buildings, and provide guidance for taking measures to enhance the seismic resilience of buildings.
文摘Accurately approximating higher order derivatives is an inherently difficult problem. When using either ghost centers or least squares, the random variable shape parameter strategy results in significantly better accuracy than when a constant shape parameter is used.

文摘Since the plasticity of soil and the irregular shape of the excavation, the efficiency and stability of the traditional local radial basis function(RBF)collocation method(LRBFCM)are inadequate for analyzing three-dimensional(3D)deformation of deep excavation. In this work, the technique known as the direct method, where the local influence nodes are collocated on a straight line,is introduced to optimize the LRBFCM.The direct method can improve the accuracy of the partial derivative, reduce the size effect caused by the large length-width ratio, and weaken the influence of the shape parameters on the LRBFCM.The mapping technique is adopted to transform the physical coordinates of a quadratic-type block to normalized coordinates,in which the deformation problem can easily be solved using the direct method. The stability of the LRBFCM is further modified by considering the irregular shape of 3D excavation, which is divided into several quadratic-type blocks. The soil’s plasticity is described by the Drucker-Prager(D-P)model.The improved LRBFCM is integrated with the incremental method to analyze the plasticity.Five different examples, including strip excavations and circular excavations, are presented to validate the proposed approach’s efficiency.

文摘Magneto-electro-elastic(MEE)materials are widely utilized across various fields due to their multi-field coupling effects.Consequently, investigating the coupling behavior of MEE composite materials is of significant importance. The traditional finite element method(FEM)remains one of the primary approaches for addressing such issues. However, the application of FEM typically necessitates the use of a fine finite element mesh to accurately capture the heterogeneous properties of the materials and meet the required computational precision, which inevitably leads to a reduction in computational efficiency. To enhance the computational accuracy and efficiency of the FEM for heterogeneous multi-field coupling problems, this study presents the coupling magneto-electro-elastic multiscale finite element method(CM-MsFEM)for heterogeneous MEE structures.Unlike the conventional multiscale FEM(MsFEM),the proposed algorithm simultaneously constructs displacement, electric, and magnetic potential multiscale basis functions to address the heterogeneity of the corresponding parameters. The macroscale formulation of CM-MsFEM was derived, and the macroscale/microscale responses of the problems were obtained through up/downscaling calculations.Evaluation using numerical examples analyzing the transient behavior of heterogeneous MEE structures demonstrated that the proposed method outperforms traditional FEM in terms of both accuracy and computational efficiency, making it an appropriate choice for numerically modeling the dynamics of heterogeneous MEE structures.

文摘Current research on rail vehicle system vibrations primarily relies on numerical methods, with vibration transfer functions commonly derived through data fitting. However, the physical mechanisms underlying these vibrations are not well understood. To clarify the vibration transfer function and its characteristics, four basic input vectors are defined, and an analytical method is proposed. The vibration transfer functions of the vehicle system are solved, and their spatial coherence is analyzed. The results show that there are two spatial scales and four coherent modes in the vehicle system. The track irregularity wavelengths are combined with two spatial scales to alter the proportions of basic input vectors and then show the characteristics of spatial coherence.Four coherent modes are involved in wheel-rail force and primary suspension force;two coherent modes are involved in bogie vertical motion;and their dominant modes vary with the input frequency. On the other hand, the coherent modes involved in the bogie pitching motion and vehicle body motion are single and fixed over the whole range of frequency. This study presents an analytical method for the rapid solution of dynamic responses in vehicle systems and systematically analyzes the coherence behavior of vibration transfer functions with respect to tracking irregularity wavelengths.

文摘In this work, we first derive the one-point large deviations principle (LDP) for both the stochastic Cahn–Hilliard equation with small noise and its spatial finite difference method (FDM). These play important roles in deriving the T-convergence of objective functions.

文摘Understanding the effects of point liquid loading on transversely isotropic poroelastic media is crucial for advancing geomechanics and biomechanics, where precise modeling of fluid-structure interactions is essential. These findings highlight the intricate behavior of the system under point liquid loading, offering valuable insights for further research and practical applications.

文摘A mesh-free method is presented to investigate the static bending properties of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite(FG-CNTRC)plates.The curvature of the plate is directly interpolated with the nodal deflections due to the higher-order continuity property of the moving leastsquares approximation, establishing a mesh-free computational scheme where the nodal deflections are the only unknowns. The convergence and efficiency of the proposed method are studied based on a homogeneous square plate. The FG-CNTRC plates are modeled with continuously varying Young’s moduli along the thickness direction according to the volume fraction of the carbon nanotubes(CNTs).Detailed studies have been conducted on the effects of different boundary conditions,CNT volume fractions, geometric shapes, and width-to-thickness ratios on bending behavior.CNT efficiency parameters are introduced to account for load transfer between the nanotubes and the matrix, treating the nanocomposites as orthotropic materials. However,in the actual structure, arranging the CNTs in the desired direction is more difficult compared to other fibers. Therefore,in the present study,CNTs in the composites are considered to be arranged randomly, resulting in the composite properties being treated as isotropic. The study includes second-order derivatives of deflections, and the finite element method typically requires C1 continuity for interpolation, which introduces challenges in building elements and constructing interpolation functions. The distinct advantage of the mesh-free method is that it requires only C0 weight functions.A mesh-free computational scheme based on moving leastsquares approximations for composite plates using Kirchhoffplate theory is established.Bending analyses of homogeneous and FG-CNTRC plates are conducted using the proposed method.Aspects such as boundary conditions,CNT volume fractions, geometric shapes, and width-to-thickness ratios are also discussed.Regular node arrangements and background meshes are adopted in the present study. Results are computed using different scalar parameters and numbers of nodes.Convergence properties for the central deflection of isotropic plates are analyzed in terms of the number of nodes and different scalar parameters. The normalized central deflection is defined and examined under various boundary conditions.
