This paper prepared a novel as-cast W-Zr-Ti metallic ESM using high-frequency vacuum induction melting technique. The above ESM performs a typical elastic-brittle material feature and strain rate strengthening behavior. The specimens exhibit violent chemical reaction during the fracture process under the impact loading, and the size distribution of their residual debris follows Rosin-Rammler model. The dynamic fracture toughness is obtained by the fitting of debris length scale, approximately 1.87 MPa·m~(1/2).Microstructure observation on residual debris indicates that the failure process is determined by primary crack propagation under quasi-static compression, while it is affected by multiple cracks propagation in both particle and matrix in the case of dynamic impact.Impact test demonstrates that the novel energetic fragment performs brilliant penetration and combustion effect behind the front target, leading to the effective ignition of fuel tank. For the brittleness of as-cast W-ZrTi ESM,further study conducted bond-based peridynamic(BB-PD)C++computational code to simulate its fracture behavior during penetration. The BB-PD method successfully captured the fracture process and debris cloud formation of the energetic fragment. This paper explores a novel as-cast metallic ESM,and provides an available numerical avenue to the simulation of brittle energetic fragment. 展开更多

Vacancy defects,as fundamental disruptions in metallic lattices, play an important role in shaping the mechanical and electronic properties of aluminum crystals. However, the influence of vacancy position under coupled thermomechanical fields remains insufficiently understood. In this study, transmission and scanning electron microscopy were employed to observe dislocation structures and grain boundary heterogeneities in processed aluminum alloys, suggesting stress concentrations and microstructural inhomogeneities associated with vacancy accumulation. To complement these observations,first-principles calculations and molecular dynamics simulations were conducted for seven single-vacancy configurations in face-centered cubic aluminum. The stress response, total energy, density of states(DOS),and differential charge density were examined under varying compressive strain(ε=0–0.1)and temperature(0–600 K).The results indicate that face-centered vacancies tend to reduce mechanical strength and perturb electronic states near the Fermi level, whereas corner and edge vacancies appear to have weaker effects.Elevated temperatures may partially restore electronic uniformity through thermal excitation.Overall, these findings suggest that vacancy position exerts a critical but position-dependent influence on coupled structure-property relationships, offering theoretical insights and preliminary experimental support for defect-engineered aluminum alloy design. 展开更多

The seepage of groundwater and the strain-softening of rock mass in a submarine tunnel expand the plastic region of rock, thereby affecting its overall stability. It is therefore essential to study the stress and strain fields in the rocks surrounding the submarine tunnel by considering the coupled effect of strainsoftening and seepage. However, the evolution equation for the hydro-mechanical parameters in the existing fully coupled solution is a uniform equation that is unable to reproduce the characteristics of rock mass in practice. In this study,an updated numerical procedure for the submarine tunnel is derived by coupling strain-softening and seepage effect based on the experimental results.According to the hydro-mechanical coupling theory, the hydro-mechanical parameters such as elastic modulus,Poisson's ratio,Biot's coefficient and permeability coefficient of rocks are characterized by the fitting equations derived from the experimental data. Then, the updated numerical procedure is deduced with the governing equations, boundary conditions, seepage equations and fitting equations. The updated numerical procedure is verified accurately compared with the previous analytical solution.By utilizing the updated numerical procedure, the characteristics of stress field and the influences of initial pore water pressure,Biot's coefficient, and permeability coefficient on the stress, displacement and water-inflow of the surrounding rocks are discussed.Regardless of the variations in hydro-mechanical parameters, the stress distribution has a similar trend. The initial permeability coefficient exerts the most significant influence on the stress field. With the increases in initial pore water pressure and Biot's coefficient, the plastic region expands, and the water-inflow and displacement increase accordingly.Given the fact that the stability of the tunnel is more sensitive to the seepage force controlled by the hydraulic parameters,it is suggested to dewater the ground above the submarine tunnel to control the initial pore water pressure. 展开更多

This study presents an experimental investigation of the coupled caloric effect driven by dual-fields in metamagnetic alloy ErCo_(2) with strong magneto-structural coupling.Magnetic measurements were conducted under different pressures, revealing that the application of hydrostatic pressure stabilizes a small volume of paramagnetism(PM) phase, resulting in a shift of the phase transition temperature towards the low-temperature region. This shift is opposite to the temperature associated with the magnetic field-driven phase transition. As pressure increases, the metamagnetic transition in ErCo_(2) is suppressed, and the hysteresis disappears. However, the produced cross-coupling caloric effect compensates the decrease in entropy change caused by the disappearance of the metamagnetic transition. As a result,a reversible giant magnetocaloric effect of 46.2 J/(kg·K) without hysteresis is achieved at a pressure of 0.910 GPa.Moreover,we propose that the temperature span of ErCo_(2) can be significantly widened by optimizing the thermodynamic pathway of the magnetic and pressure fields, overcoming the defect of a narrow temperature range. 展开更多

The past decade has witnessed the rapid increasement in power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells(PSCs).However, serious ion migration hampers their operational stability.Although dopants composed of varied cations and anions are introduced into perovskite to suppress ion migration, the impact of cations or anions is not individually explored, which hinders the evaluation of different cations and further application of doping strategy. Here we report that a special group of sulfonic anions(like CF_(3)SO_(3)^(-))successfully introduce alkaline earth ions(like Ca^(2+))into perovskite lattice compared to its halide counterparts.Furthermore, with effective crystallization regulation and defect passivation of sulfonic anions, perovskite with Ca(CF_(3)SO_(3))_(2)shows reduced PbI2 residue and metallic Pb0 defects;thereby, corresponding PSCs show an enhanced PCE of 24.95%.Finally by comparing the properties of perovskite with Ca(CF_(3)SO_(3))_(2)and FACF_(3)SO_(3),we found that doped Ca^(2+)significantly suppressed halide migration with an activation energy of 1.246 eV which accounts for the improved operational stability of Ca(CF_(3)SO_(3))_(2-)doped PSCs,while no obvious impact of Ca^(2+)on trap density is observed.Combining the benefits of cations and anions, this study presents an effective method to decouple the effects of cations and anions and fabricate efficient and stable PSCs. 展开更多

We consider matter-wave solitons in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates embedded in an optical lattice and study the dynamics of the soliton within the framework of Gross-Pitaevskii equations. We express spin components of the soliton pair in terms of nonlinear Bloch equations and investigate the effective spin dynamics. It is seen that the effective magnetic field that appears in the Bloch equation is affected by optical lattices, and thus the optical lattice influences the precessional frequency of the spin components. We make use of numerical approaches to investigate the dynamical behavior of density profiles and center-of-mass of the soliton pair in the presence of the optical lattice. It is shown that the spin density is periodically varying due to flipping of spinors between the two states. The amplitude of spin-flipping oscillation increases with lattice strength. We find that the system can also exhibit interesting nonlinear behavior for chosen values of parameters. We present a fixed point analysis to study the effects of optical lattices on the nonlinear dynamics of the spin components. It is seen that the optical lattice can act as a control parameter to change the dynamical behavior of the spin components from periodic to chaotic. 展开更多

The collective dynamic of a fractional-order globally coupled system with time delays and fluctuating frequency is investigated. The power-law memory of the system is characterized using the Caputo fractional derivative operator.Additionally, time delays in the potential field force and coupling force transmission are both considered.Firstly, based on the delay decoupling formula, combined with statistical mean method and the fractional-order Shapiro–Loginov formula, the“statistic synchronization”among particles is obtained, revealing the statistical equivalence between the mean field behavior of the system and the behavior of individual particles.Due to the existence of the coupling delay, the impact of the coupling force on synchronization exhibits non-monotonic,which is different from the previous monotonic effects. Then, two kinds of theoretical expression of output amplitude gains G and G are derived by time-delay decoupling formula and small delay approximation theorem, respectively.Compared to G,G is an exact theoretical solution, which means that G is not only more accurate in the region of small delay, but also applies to the region of large delay. Finally, the study of the output amplitude gain G and its resonance behavior are explored.Due to the presence of the potential field delay,a new resonance phenomenon termed“periodic resonance”is discovered, which arises from the periodic matching between the potential field delay and the driving frequency. This resonance phenomenon is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, uncovering undiscovered characteristics in previous studies. 展开更多

Based on the energy dissipation caused by consolidation deformation of the porous media under external force and migration of the internal suspended substances,a coupled multiphase-substance flow(CMF)model was established. This model introduced the new concepts, such as particle temperature and particle entropy,to describe energy dissipation at meso-level.This model used a potential energy density function and migration coefficients to establish the corresponding connection between the dissipative force and dissipative flow. This viewpoint unifies the deformation, seepage, and suspended substance migration of geotechnical materials under the framework of granular thermodynamics. It can reflect the evolution of effective stress in the solid matrix of multi-components in a particle-reorganized state, and considers the temperature driving effect. The proposed CMF model is validated using the experimental results under coupled migration of heavy metal ions(HMs)and suspended particles(SPs).The calculation results demonstrated that the CMF model can describe the flow process under the conditions of arbitrary changes in different suspended substance types, injection concentrations, and injection velocities. 展开更多

This study investigates the effect of nacelle motions on the rotor performance and drivetrain dynamics of floating offshore wind turbines(FOWTs)through fully coupled aero-hydro-elastic-servo-mooring simulations.Using the National Renewable Energy Laboratory 5 MW monopile-supported offshore wind turbine and the OC4 DeepCwind semisubmersible wind turbine as case studies, the research addresses the complex dynamic responses resulting from the interaction among wind, waves, and turbine structures.Detailed multi-body dynamics models of wind turbines, including drivetrain components, are created within the SIMPACK framework.Meanwhile, the mooring system is modeled using a lumped-mass method.Various operational conditions are simulated through five wind-wave load cases. Results demonstrate that nacelle motions significantly influence rotor speed, thrust, torque, and power output,as well as the dynamic loads on drivetrain components. These findings highlight the need for advanced simulation techniques for the design and optimization of FOWTs to ensure reliable performance and longevity. 展开更多

This paper introduces a bond-based peridynamics(BB-PD)algorithm for crack identification, integrating the Delaunay triangulation method to accurately identify the structural characteristics of threedimensional(3D)cracks in rocks.A bond-based crack quantification standard is proposed to analyze the evolution of cracks of various sizes.A multi-attribute peridynamic model, developed using a multilayer algorithm, was employed to simulate the fracturing process of sandstone disks and semi-disks under varying temperatures, with the model calibrated and validated against experimental results. The simulation results show that temperature induces nonlinear degradation in the tensile strength and fracture toughness of sandstone, with 500℃ identified as the threshold temperature.Thermal cracks exhibit varying degrees of influence on Mode I cracks across different temperature ranges.Thermal damage significantly promotes the initiation and propagation of Mode I cracks in sandstone, thereby reducing its tensile strength and fracture toughness.Under applied loads, crack propagation in sandstone predominantly occurs during the failure stage, characterized by the rapid growth of longer cracks and a slow increase or reduction in shorter cracks. 展开更多

This paper investigates the adhesive nanocontact behavior of an elastic halfplane indented by a rigid cylindrical indenter, incorporating the simultaneous effects of surface elasticity, couple stresses, and adhesion. The free surface of the half-plane is modeled by the Steigmann-Ogden surface elasticity theory, while the bulk material behavior is described by the classical couple-stress elasticity theory. The adhesion at the contact interface is characterized by the Maugis-Dugdale(MD)adhesive contact model.Building on the fundamental nonclassical Flamant solution, the governing equations and boundary conditions of the nanocontact problem are reformulated into a system of triple integral equations. These equations are solved numerically by the Gauss-Chebyshev quadratures in combination with an iterative algorithm. The validation against the existing literature confirms the accuracy and robustness of the proposed solution methodology.Comprehensive parametric studies are performed to elucidate the critical roles of surface elasticity and couple stresses in adhesive nanocontact. The numerical results provide insights into the complex interactions among surface,couple-stress,and adhesive effects.Specifically, the interplay between the surface and adhesive effects is predominantly competitive, while the interaction between the couple stresses and adhesion exhibits an intricate nature. The findings highlight the necessity of simultaneously considering surface elasticity, couple stresses, and adhesion in nanoindentation analyses to achieve accurate predictions of material responses. 展开更多

The magnetic proximity effect enables interfacial modulation of excitonic and spin-valley properties in transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),offering a versatile route toward next-generation spintronic and valleytronic devices. However, the inherently weak photoluminescence(PL)of bright excitons—suppressed by proximity-induced darkening mechanisms—hinders the optical detection of magnetic interactions. Here,we demonstrate substantial exciton emission enhancement in CrOCl/WSe_(2)(HS)and twisted 90°-CrOCl/CrOCl/WSe_(2)(THS)heterostructures by employing plasmonic Au nanopillar arrays to activate surface plasmon polariton(SPP)coupling. The neutral exciton emission intensity is enhanced by factors of 5 and 18 for HS/Au and THS/Au,respectively,with enhancements persisting under high magnetic fields and elevated temperatures(~10-fold in THS/Au).Enabled by this amplification,we observe pronounced Zeeman splitting and modified intervalley relaxation pathways, indicating significant magnetic proximity interactions.Finite-element simulations and first-principles calculations reveal that the enhancement arises from local electromagnetic field concentration and layer-dependent interfacial coupling. Our results establish SPP-assisted PL enhancement as an effective strategy for probing weak magneto-optical signatures, paving the way for detailed exploration of exciton-magnon coupling and interface-driven quantum phenomena in twodimensional(2D)magnetic heterostructures. 展开更多

Based on the Smit-Suhl formula,we propose a universal approach for solving the magnon-magnon coupling problem in bilayer coupled systems(e.g.,antiferromagnets).This method requires only the energy expression, enabling the automatic derivation of analytical expressions for the eigenmatrix elements via symbolic computation, eliminating the need for tedious manual calculations.Using this approach,we investigate the impact of magnetic hysteresis on magnon-magnon coupling in a system with interlayer Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction(DMI).The magnetic hysteresis leads to an asymmetric magnetic field dependence of the resonance frequency and alters the number of degeneracy points between the pure optical and acoustic modes. Moreover,it can result in the coupling strength at the gap of the f–H phase diagram being nearly vanishing, contrary to the conventionally expected maximum. These results deepen the understanding of the effect of interlayer DMI on magnon–magnon coupling and the proposed universal method significantly streamlines the solving process of magnon–magnon coupling problems. 展开更多

Rechargeable Zn/Sn-air batteries have received considerable attention as promising energy storage devices. However, the electrochemical performance of these batteries is significantly constrained by the sluggish electrocatalytic reaction kinetics at the cathode. The integration of light energy into Zn/Sn-air batteries is a promising strategy for enhancing their performance. However, the photothermal and photoelectric effects generate heat in the battery under prolonged solar irradiation, leading to air cathode instability. This paper presents the first design and synthesis of Ni_(2)-1,5-diamino-4,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone(Ni_(2)DDA),an electronically conductiveπ-d conjugated metal-organic framework(MOF).Ni_(2)DDA exhibits both photoelectric and photothermal effects, with an optical band gap of~1.14 eV.Under illumination,Ni_(2)DDA achieves excellent oxygen evolution reaction performance(with an overpotential of 245 mV vs.reversible hydrogen electrode at 10 mA cm^(−2))and photothermal stability. These properties result from the synergy between the photoelectric and photothermal effects of Ni_(2)DDA.Upon integration into Zn/Sn-air batteries,Ni_(2)DDA ensures excellent cycling stability under light and exhibits remarkable performance in high-temperature environments up to 80℃.This study experimentally confirms the stable operation of photo-assisted Zn/Sn-air batteries under high-temperature conditions for the first time and provides novel insights into the application of electronically conductive MOFs in photoelectrocatalysis and photothermal catalysis. 展开更多

Using multi-source reanalysis data, this study examines the relationship between the tropical Pacific-Atlantic SST Dipole Mode(TPA-DM)and summer precipitation in North China(NCSP)on the interannual timescale during the period of 1979-2022.The results show that the TPA-DM,the dominant pattern of interannual variability in the tropical Pacific and Atlantic regions, exhibits a significant negative correlation with NCSP.The positive phase of TPA-DM induces subsidence over the Maritime Continent through a zonal circulation pattern, which initiates a Pacific-Japan-like wave train along the East Asian coast. The circulation anomalies lead to moisture deficits and convergence subsidence over North China, leading to below-normal rainfall.Further analysis reveals that cooler SST in the Southern Tropical Atlantic facilitates the persistence of the TPA-DM by stimulating the anomalous Walker circulation associated with wind-evaporation-SST-convection feedback. 展开更多

Installing internal bulkheads in a composite bucket foundation alters the rotational symmetry characteristic of a single-compartment bucket foundation, consequently influencing the stress distribution within the bucket and surrounding soil.During the seabed penetration of a spudcan from a jack-up wind turbine installation vessel,an angle may form between the spudcan’s axis and the axis of symmetry of the adjacent composite bucket foundation in the horizontal plane.Such a misalignment may affect load distribution and the non-uniform interaction between the foundation, soil, and spudcan, ultimately influencing the foundation’s stability. This study employs physical model tests to ascertain the trends in end resistance during spudcan penetration in sand, the extent of soil disturbance, and the backflow condition. The finite element coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method is validated and utilized to determine the range of penetration angles that induce alterations in the maximum vertical displacement and tilt rate of the composite bucket foundation in sand. The differential contact stress distribution at the base of the bucket is analyzed, with qualitative criteria for sand backflow provided.Findings demonstrate that the maximum vertical displacement and tilt rate of the composite bucket foundation display a“wave-like”variation with the increasing spudcan penetration angle, peaking when the angle between the spudcan and bulkhead is the smallest.Stress distribution is predominantly concentrated at the base and apex of the bucket, becoming increasingly uneven as the penetration angle deviates from the foundation’s symmetry axis. The maximum stress gradually shifts to the junction of the bulkhead and bucket bottom on the side with the shortest net distance from the spudcan.Considering the in-place stability and stress state of the composite bucket foundation is therefore imperative, and particular attention should be paid to the foundation’s state when the angle between the spudcan and bulkhead is small. 展开更多

Beam-tracking simulations have been extensively utilized in the study of collective beam instabilities in circular accelerators.Traditionally, many simulation codes have relied on central processing unit(CPU)-based methods, tracking on a single CPU core,or parallelizing the computation across multiple cores via the message passing interface(MPI).Although these approaches work well for single-bunch tracking, scaling them to multiple bunches significantly increases the computational load, which often necessitates the use of a dedicated multi-CPU cluster. To address this challenge, alternative methods leveraging General-Purpose computing on Graphics Processing Units(GPGPU)have been proposed, enabling tracking studies on a standalone desktop personal computer(PC).However, frequent CPU-GPU interactions, including data transfers and synchronization operations during tracking, can introduce communication overheads, potentially reducing the overall effectiveness of GPU-based computations. In this study,we propose a novel approach that eliminates this overhead by performing the entire tracking simulation process exclusively on the GPU,thereby enabling the simultaneous processing of all bunches and their macro-particles.Specifically,we introduce MBTRACK2-CUDA,a Compute Unified Device Architecture(CUDA)ported version of MBTRACK2,which facilitates efficient tracking of single-and multi-bunch collective effects by leveraging the full GPU-resident computation. 展开更多

Electrical and electronic devices face significant challenges in heatmanagement due to their compact size and high heat flux, which negatively impact performance and reliability.Conventional coolingmethods, such as forced air cooling, often struggle to transfer heat efficiently. In contrast, thermoelectric coolers(TECs)provide an innovative active cooling solution to meet growing thermal management demands. In this research,a refrigerant based on mono ethylene glycol and distilled water was used instead of using gases,in addition to using thermoelectric cooling units instead of using a compressor in traditional refrigeration systems. This study evaluates the performance of a Peltierbased thermalmanagement systemby analyzing the effects of using two, three, and four Peltiermodules on cooling rates, power consumption, temperature reduction, and system efficiency.Experimental results indicate that increasing the number of Peltier modules significantly enhances cooling performance. The four-module system achieved an optimal balance between cooling speed and energy efficiency, reducing the temperature of a liquidmixture(30% mono ethylene glycol+70% distilled water plus laser dyes)to 8℃ in just 17 min.It demonstrated a cooling rate of 0.794℃/min and a high coefficient of performance(COP)of 1.2 while consuming less energy than the two-and three-module systems.Furthermore, the study revealed that increasing the number of modules led to faster air cooling and improved temperature reduction. These findings highlight the importance of selecting the optimal number of Peltier modules to enhance efficiency and cooling speed whileminimizing energy consumption. This makes TEC technology a sustainable and effective solution for applications requiring rapid and reliable thermal management. 展开更多
