The BSi contents in P. australis, S. mariqueter and S. alterniflora varied from 25.78–42.74 mg/g, 5.71–19.53 mg/g and 6.71–8.92 mg/g, respectively. Over the entire growth season, P. australis and S. mariqueter were characterized by linear accumulation patterns of BSi. The aboveground biomass (leaves and culms) of the marsh plants generally contained more BSi than underground biomass (roots). BSi contents were relatively higher in dead plant tissues than in live tissues which was probably due to the decomposition and the leaching of labile components of plant tissues such as organic carbon and nitrogen. Comparing with the habitats of S. mariqueter and S. alterniflora, the highest BSi content was recorded in sediments inhabited by P. australis, with an annual average of 15.69 mg/g. Overall, the intertidal marshes in the Yangtze Estuary may act as a net sink of BSi via plant uptake and sedimentary burial.展开更多

文摘Dear Editor, Eukaryotic transcriptional regulation networks are extremely complex. Usually, multiple transcription factors (TFs) bind to the promoter region of a gene and cooperate to control gene expression precisely. Identifying cooperative TFs remains a major challenge in modem biological research. Various types of data, including genomic sequences, expression profiles, ChiP-chip data and protein-protein interactions, have been used to identify mechanisms of cooperative transcriptional regulation.

文摘Cariogenic Streptococcus mutans(S.mutans)is a leading cause of bacterial-induced oral diseases.Current strategies to kill bacteria based on Host defense peptide(HDP)mimicking polymers hold promise to treat oral bacterial infection. Here,we explore the impact of hydrophobic subunit and chain length variation on the antibacterial and antibiofilm activity ofβ-peptide polymers. The physicochemical and biological prop-erties,such as the toxicity, the antibacterial activity, and the effect on bacterial transcription ofβ-peptide polymers, were systematically investigated with numerous techniques. The results exhibited that the op-timalβ-peptide polymer has low toxicity towards human periodontal ligament fibroblasts,andβ-peptide polymers(especially P3)have more excellent antibacterial activity against S.mutans than metronidazole. In addition,β-peptide polymers inhibited the reversible and irreversible bacterial adhesion during the formation of biofilms. The polymer can promote biofilm dispersion by decreasing the hydrophobicity of bacterial cells after adhering to cell surfaces.Analysis of the transcriptome for S.mutans treated withβ-peptide polymers demonstrated thatβ-peptide polymers could reduce the cariogenicity of S.mutans by impacting the transcription of the energy and acid metabolism-related genes.β-peptide polymers are promising antimicrobial agents in clinical dentistry due to their high antibacterial efficiency and low tox-icity.

文摘We report the temperature dependence of the spin pumping effect for Y_(3)Fe_(5)O_(12)(YIG,0.9μm)/NiO(tNiO)/W(6 nm)(tNiO=0 nm,1 nm,2 nm,and 10 nm)heterostructures. All samples exhibit a strong temperature-dependent inverse spin Hall effect(ISHE)signal I_(c)and sensitivity to the NiO layer thickness. We observe a dramatic decrease of I_(c)with inserting thin NiO layer between YIG and W layers indicating that the inserting of NiO layer significantly suppresses the spin transport from YIG to W.In contrast to the noticeable enhancement in YIG/NiO(tNiO≈1-2 nm)/Pt,the suppression of spin transport may be closely related to the specific interface-dependent spin scattering, spin memory loss, and spin conductance at the NiO/W interface.Besides, the I_(c)of YIG/Ni O/W exhibits a maximum near the TNof the AF NiO layer because the spins are transported dominantly by incoherent thermal magnons.

文摘Objective To explore prevalence of casual sex among the Yi. Methods Cross-sectional survey of 89 Yi male villagers was used. In-depth interview, interview and focus group discussion were used to collect supplementary information. Results About 96.63% respondents had had casual sex at some time in their life, and 78. 65% had had multiple partners (maximum number was 40); 41.57% respondents had heard of condoms, but only 20.22% had used them and no one used them consistently. In the past one year, 26.97% had had multiple partners (maximum number was 6). Conclusion Casual sex is a Yi young men's lifestyle, but is denied. It is urgent for researchers and policy makers to pay attention to casual sex.
