BACKGROUND Lumbar interbody fusion(LIF)is the primary treatment for lumbar degenerative diseases.Elderly patients are prone to anxiety and depression after undergoing surgery,which affects their postoperative recovery...BACKGROUND Lumbar interbody fusion(LIF)is the primary treatment for lumbar degenerative diseases.Elderly patients are prone to anxiety and depression after undergoing surgery,which affects their postoperative recovery speed and quality of life.Effective prevention of anxiety and depression in elderly patients has become an urgent problem.AIM To investigate the trajectory of anxiety and depression levels in elderly patients after LIF,and the influencing factors.METHODS Random sampling was used to select 239 elderly patients who underwent LIF from January 2020 to December 2024 in Shenzhen Pingle Orthopedic Hospital.General information and surgery-related indices were recorded,and participants completed measures of psychological status,lumbar spine dysfunction,and quality of life.A latent class growth model was used to analyze the post-LIF trajectory of anxiety and depression levels,and unordered multi-categorical logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors.RESULTS Three trajectories of change in anxiety level were identified:Increasing anxiety(n=26,10.88%),decreasing anxiety(n=27,11.30%),and stable anxiety(n=186,77.82%).Likewise,three trajectories of change in depression level were identified:Increasing depression(n=30,12.55%),decreasing depression(n=26,10.88%),and stable depression(n=183,76.57%).Regression analysis showed that having no partner,female sex,elevated Oswestry dysfunction index(ODI)scores,and reduced 36-Item Short Form Health Survey scores all contributed to increased anxiety levels,whereas female sex,postoperative opioid use,and elevated ODI scores all contributed to increased depression levels.CONCLUSION During clinical observation,combining factors to predict anxiety and depression in post-LIF elderly patients enables timely intervention,quickens recovery,and enhances quality of life.展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve the seed production efficiency of water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid millet in production.[Methods]A high-efficiency seed production technology for water-saving a...[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve the seed production efficiency of water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid millet in production.[Methods]A high-efficiency seed production technology for water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid millet varieties was developed by integrating aspects such as parental line sources,botanical characteristics,biological traits,seed production yield structure,key technical points of seed production,and suitable planting regions.[Results]Under standardized pre-sowing preparation and field management,both parents are simultaneously sown around May 20 with a planting row ratio of 2:6(female:male),a row spacing of 20 cm and plant spacing of 10 cm for the female parent,and a row spacing of 35 cm and plant spacing of 15 cm for the male parent.Both parents are fertilized simultaneously with 375 kg/hm^(2) of urea at the booting stage combined with intertillage or rainfall,and 225 kg/hm^(2) of urea at the grain-filling stage combined with irrigation.Strict hybrid removal,proper pollination and timely harvesting can significantly increase the yield of seed production.[Conclusions]This technology can be fully applied to large-scale seed production of water-saving and drought-resistant hybrid millet,providing seed supply support for cultivation in arid and semi-arid regions.It helps alleviate issues such as excessive groundwater extraction and water scarcity while enhancing planting efficiency,increasing yield,and boosting increase of farmers income.展开更多
BACKGROUND Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction(CIPO)is a rare and debilitating disorder,characterized by severe impairments in gastrointestinal motility.The affected sites include the enteric/intrinsic autonomic ner...BACKGROUND Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction(CIPO)is a rare and debilitating disorder,characterized by severe impairments in gastrointestinal motility.The affected sites include the enteric/intrinsic autonomic nerves(neuropathy),intestinal smooth muscle cells(myopathy),and interstitial cells of Cajal(mesenchymopathy).The etiology can be genetic,idiopathic,or acquired.Owing to its nonspecific clinical presentation and lack of definitive diagnostic methods,misdiagnosis of CIPO is common.CASE SUMMARY This case involved an older male with insidious onset in adolescence who presented with postprandial bloating,intermittent diarrhea,and weight loss.During the disease course,the patient experienced two episodes of intestinal obstruction.Imaging revealed multisegmental digestive tract abnormalities(gastric emptying disorder,significant duodenal dilatation,and segmental jejunal dilatation).Whole-exome sequencing revealed a rare MYH11 mutation[NM_0010-40113.2:C.5819del(p.Pro1940HisfsTer91)],confirming hereditary myopathic CIPO.CONCLUSION This report adds to our current understanding of CIPO etiology by reinforcing the role of MYH11 variants in the pathogenesis of the CIPO phenotype.展开更多
BACKGROUND Indolent NK-cell lymphoproliferative disorder of the gastrointestinal tract(iNKLPD)is a rare and recently defined entity,recognized in the 2022 WHO classification of hematolymphoid tumors.iNKLPD typically e...BACKGROUND Indolent NK-cell lymphoproliferative disorder of the gastrointestinal tract(iNKLPD)is a rare and recently defined entity,recognized in the 2022 WHO classification of hematolymphoid tumors.iNKLPD typically exhibits a benign or slowly progressive clinical course,with disease localized to the gastrointestinal tract.Here,we present what we believe to be the first reported case of iNKLPD associated with protein-losing enteropathy(PLE),characterized by a poor response to chemotherapy and rapid clinical deterioration,culminating in death within a few months.CASE SUMMARY We report the case of a 64-year-old man who presented with bilateral lower-extremity edema and fatigue.Laboratory tests revealed marked hypoalbuminemia,while other liver function parameters remained within normal limits.Renal and cardiac function assessments were unremarkable.Histopathological examination of endoscopic biopsies confirmed a diagnosis of iNKLPD of the gastrointestinal tract.The patient was treated with oral prednisone and cyclosporine,which led to temporary improvement in both symptoms and serum albumin levels.However,disease relapse occurred during corticosteroid tapering,accompanied by worsening hypoalbu-minemia and refractory diarrhea.The patient died eight months after diagnosis,likely due to disease progression or severe treatment-related complications.CONCLUSION iNKLPD generally exhibits an indolent course;nonetheless,the prognosis may be poor if secondary PLE is involved.展开更多
