Objective:To investigate the current evidence on traditional medicine in managing bruxism and its clinical efficacy.Methods:A search was conducted in nine databases to identify potential eligible articles published fr...Objective:To investigate the current evidence on traditional medicine in managing bruxism and its clinical efficacy.Methods:A search was conducted in nine databases to identify potential eligible articles published from the date of inception until August 3,2022.All clinical studies that used traditional medicine of any type in treating bruxism were eligible for inclusion.Two authors performed data extraction and quality as-sessments independently.Retrieved data were tabulated and discussed narratively.Results:A total of 16 clinical studies were included in this scoping review.Of the 16 studies,three studies were randomized controlled trials,one was a caseecontrol study,10 were case series,and two were case reports.Our review identified studies of interventions based on herbal medicine and acupuncture-related therapies.Most studies reported positive results,but the overall quality of the included studies was typically fair to poor.Conclusions:This study is the first scoping review on traditional medicine for bruxism despite the limited evidence.More research on traditional medicine in bruxism management should be conducted for better clarification and application in daily practice.展开更多
Spindle epithelial tumor with thymus-like differentiation(SETTLE)is a rare,low-grade malignant neoplasm that mainly occurs in the thyroid gland or its perimeter.Fewer than 10 cases of SETTLE have been reported in the ...Spindle epithelial tumor with thymus-like differentiation(SETTLE)is a rare,low-grade malignant neoplasm that mainly occurs in the thyroid gland or its perimeter.Fewer than 10 cases of SETTLE have been reported in the Chinese literature,whereas approximately 50 cases have been reported in the international literature.We report a rare case of SETTLE that occurred in the soft tissues of the neck around the thyroid gland in a 41-year-old man.The neoplastic tissue,which mainly consisted of spindle epithelial components,included sporadically visible thymus-like structures.Immunohistochemistry demonstrated CK and CK19 positivity in the thymic epithelial components and CK,vimentin,and Bcl-2 positivity in the spindle cells.Surgical resection is the main treatment option for SETTLE.This patient underwent mass resection of the neck,and no recurrence or metastasis was observed even at 8 months postoperatively.展开更多
Background:Non–small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is a common malignant tumor with an increasing incidence.PIEZO-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1(PIEZO1)is a mechanosensitive ion channel whose expression has b...Background:Non–small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is a common malignant tumor with an increasing incidence.PIEZO-type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1(PIEZO1)is a mechanosensitive ion channel whose expression has been implicated in various cancers.However,its expression patterns,prognostic implications,and specific molecular mechanisms of action in NSCLC remain un-clear.This study aimed to characterize the expression profile of PIEZO1 in NSCLC in vitro and using bioinformatics analyses.Methods:To determine the expression profile of PIEZO1 in normal and cancerous human tissues and the mRNA expression of PIEZO1 in NSCLC,we analyzed data from The Cancer Genome Atlas.Various bioinformatics analyses were performed for correlation analyses,construction of survival curves,and identification of upstream mRNA targets and genes coexpressed with PIEZO1.Furthermore,the coexpressed genes were functionally annotated with Gene Ontology and subjected to pathway enrichment analyses.Additionally,we an-alyzed and compared PIEZO1 expression in normal and cancerous human tissue samples in vitro.Results:NSCLC tissue samples had lower PIEZO1 expression than adjacent tissues.PIEZO1 overexpression inhibited NSCLC progres-sion and cell migration and correlated with improved survival outcomes,as revealed by bioinformatics analyses.Additionally,analysis using the OncomiR database revealed that miR-942-5p upregulation contributed to the downregulation of PIEZO1 in NSCLC.Mechanistic in-vestigations suggested that PIEZO1 modulates NSCLC by regulating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway,particularly by targeting FLNA,RRAS,and MAP3K6.Bioinformatics analyses highlighted the potential of PIEZO1 as a therapeutic target and prognostic indicator of NSCLC.Conclusions:These novel findings reveal the expression profile of PIEZO1 in NSCLC and highlight the potential of PIEZO1 and miR-942-5p as diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers of NSCLC and other cancer types.展开更多
