This study investigates the reduction in polarization measurement accuracy caused by varying in-cident angles in a liquid crystal variable retarder(LCVR).The phase delay characteristics of the LCVR were examined,with ...This study investigates the reduction in polarization measurement accuracy caused by varying in-cident angles in a liquid crystal variable retarder(LCVR).The phase delay characteristics of the LCVR were examined,with particular emphasis on the influence of different two-dimensional incident angles on phase delay behavior.Building upon the calibration of phase delay under normal incidence,a phase delay calibra-tion model was developed to account for variations in incident angle and driving voltage.A mathematical re-lationship was established between phase delay and the azimuth angle(α)and pitch angle(β).Experimental validation was conducted under three conditions:α=20°,β=0°;α=0°,β=20°;and an arbitrary angle whereα=5°,β=15°.The results demonstrated that the maximum average deviation between theoretical pre-dictions and experimental measurements did not exceed 0.059 rad.The proposed calibration method proved to be both accurate and practical.This approach offers robust support for LCVR parameter calibration and performance optimization in optical systems,particularly in polarization imaging applications.展开更多
Research on the ecohydrological processes of terrestrial plants is a frontier field comprising ecology,hydrology and global change research,yielding the key theoretical foundations of ecohydrology.In karst areas,due t...Research on the ecohydrological processes of terrestrial plants is a frontier field comprising ecology,hydrology and global change research,yielding the key theoretical foundations of ecohydrology.In karst areas,due to its unique geological background,the karst landscape is strongly developed,with high bedrock exposure,high permeability,fragmented soils,shallow soils,and high spatial heterogeneity,resulting in very limited water storage for plant uptake and growth in rock fissures and shallow soils.Therefore,water conditions are an important ecological factor influencing plant growth.To comprehensively understand the current progress and development trends in plant water use research focusing on karst areas,this paper uses the VOSviewer software to analyze the literature on plant water use in karst areas between 1984 and 2022.The results showed that:(1)Research on plant water use in karst areas has developed rapidly worldwide,and the number of relevant studies in the literature have increased year by year,which together means that it is attracting more and more attention.(2)The investigation of plant water sources,geological background of karst areas,seasonal arid tropical climates,the relationship betweenδ13C values and plant water use efficiency,karst plant water use in karst savannas and subtropical areas,and ecosystems under climate change yields the knowledge base in this field.(3)Most studies in this area focus on the division of water sources of plants in karst areas,the methods of studying the water use sources of plants,and the water use strategies and efficiency of plants.(4)Future research will focus on how plant water use in karst areas is influenced by Earth’s critical zones,climate change,and ecohydrological separation.These studies will provide a key scientific basis for guiding ecological restoration and promoting sustainable development in karst areas.展开更多
CALCINEURIN B-LIKE PROTEINS(CBLs)function in osmotic stress responses,root morphogenesis and ion uptake in various plants such as Arabidopsis.However,the roles of Os CBLs in regulating root growth in rice(Oryza sativa...CALCINEURIN B-LIKE PROTEINS(CBLs)function in osmotic stress responses,root morphogenesis and ion uptake in various plants such as Arabidopsis.However,the roles of Os CBLs in regulating root growth in rice(Oryza sativa),whose root morphology and growth environment strongly differ from those of Arabidopsis,are unknown.Here,we demonstrated that Os CBL3 functioned as a calcium sensor to regulate primary and lateral root development in rice.Os CBL3 interacted with Os CIPK31 in vivo and in vitro,and the loss of function of Os CBL3 or Os CIPK31 resulted in shorter roots and diminished lateral root growth.Overexpression of Os CIPK31 compensated for the root growth defects of Os CBL3 knockout mutants.These results demonstrated that the Os CBL3–Os CIPK31 module coordinated root development via the abscisic acid(ABA)and auxin pathways,as ABA inhibitors and low auxin concentrations partially rescued the short-root phenotype of their respective knockout lines.CYCLOPHYLIN 2(Os CYP2),a key factor in lateral root initiation and root growth maintenance,was phosphorylated by Os CIPK31,and knockout of Os CYP2 in Os CIPK31 overexpression lines resulted in a phenotype similar to that of Os CYP2 single knockout lines.Therefore,the Os CBL3–Os CIPK31 module functioned in ABA and auxin signal transduction,ensuring proper root growth.Os CIPK31,activated by Os CBL3,then phosphorylated Os CYP2,which drove primary and lateral root development.These results establish a new module regulating primary and lateral root development in rice.展开更多
African cultivated rice(Oryza glaberrima)was domesticated from its wild progenitor,Oryza barthii.The transition from long-awn to short-awn or awnless glumes was an important evolutionary event during domestication.A Q...African cultivated rice(Oryza glaberrima)was domesticated from its wild progenitor,Oryza barthii.The transition from long-awn to short-awn or awnless glumes was an important evolutionary event during domestication.A QTL analysis of 331 recombinant inbred lines(RILs)using 194 InDel markers identified five quantitative trait loci(QTL)associated with awn length.Locus qObAwn5 made the highest contribution in regulating awn length and was fine-mapped to a 260-kb genomic interval.RNA-seq and RT-qPCR analyses,combined with CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knockout that disruption of gene G12 caused a significant reduction in awn length indicating that G12 was ObAwn5.Genomic analysis revealed a large structural variation(SV)between W1411 and IRGC104165 within this region,characterized by an inversion and two large deletions.Population genomic analyses revealed that all the cultivated African accessions exhibit a domestication-like(Dom-like)pattern,whereas non-cultivated accessions consisted of two distinct types:W1050-like and W1411-like.The W1411-like type was exclusively found in the AA genome of African wild rice.This discovery of ObAwn5 newly substantiates the independent origin of African cultivated rice.展开更多
