This paper discusses the relationship of village temples and town temples in Suzhou district in Qing Dynasty from multiple dimensions. The appearances of the Town God Temples and the Jieqianliang custom helped us understand some particular images of folk belief during the intercourses of villages and towns. To some extent, the research indicates that the upper-lower relationship between the towns and villages in folk belief had some resemblance with the hierachical differences of villages and towns, but it was not totally the same because some fairs or even some villages which located among the large towns sometimes played an important role.
