The necessity of adopting the regenerative combustion process to the soaking furnace of the No.5 Steel Rolling Mill of SISG. is introduced; and several solutions to the process are compared and screened, in order to finally select a proper one. The details of the technical modifications are described, the difficulties with them emphasized, and the merits of this technique summarized.
