摘要
当代学者对孔子"忠恕"原则所作的"己之所欲,施之于人"的所谓积极表述,与孔子的思想相悖,是不妥当的。忠恕之道,既是一沟通原则,又是一限制原则。而它作为沟通原则是建立在其作为限制原则的基础之上的。忠恕最终所要达成的"合外内之道",乃是在人我、物我天然差异实现前提下的"沟通"。忠恕所强调的是对"己"的限制和要求,而非对人的限制和要求;在现实的伦理关系中亦强调个体角色和"分位"的限制性,它体现了一种价值平等性的精神,排除了原则的抽象性所可能引发的道德任意。对忠恕的所谓"积极表述",易于导向对其限制性规定的忽视,助长对现代社会业已造成很大危害的自我中心态度,是应予纠正的。
That the contemporary scholars positively express the Confucian principle of 'ZhongShu' as 'bestow what oneself's wish to the other' is not compatible with Confucian thought. The Way of ZhongShu is both a principle of communication and a principle of limitation. As a principle of communication, it is established on the basis of its function as a principle of limitation. The way of uniting the transcendental and the immanent which finally achieved by ZhongShu is precisely a communication among oneself and the other and the things which all actualized their difference. What the principle of ZhongShu emphasize is limitations and requires for oneself, but not for the others; it also stresses on the limitations of individual's role and class which embody a spirit of value equality and exclude moral arbitrary that may arise from the abstractness of principle. The socalled positive express of ZhongShu is susceptible to ignore its principle of limitation and encourage the egoism which has caused great harm in the modern society.
