摘要
从Landau deGennes取向自由能出发讨论了二维情况下向列型液晶的热力学特征:二维液晶的I N相变是二级相变;将元胞动力学方法推广到处理张量序参量的情况,并用数值解求解了关于取向张量的Ginzberg Landau方程,模拟得到了液晶的纹影织构。计算结果表明:具二级I N相变的二维液晶是对具弱一级相变的真实液晶的良好物理近似。
The thermodynamic property of nematic liquid crystal in two dimensions was discussed based on Landau-de Gennes orientational free energy. It was found that the I-N phase transition of nematic liquid crystal in two dimensions is second order. The use of so-called cell dynamical system was gene-ralized to deal with the tensor order parameter, by which the Ginzberg-Landau equation for orientational order parameter was numerically solved and the formation of schlieren patterns was also simulated. The computational results indicate that the two-dimensional model with second-order I-N transition is an ideal physical approximation for the real nematics with weak first-order phase transition.
