This paper elaborate the function and working conditions of the free wheels in the shifting transients of common automatic transmission, Also, explores the assigned methods of free wheels in automatic transmission by using The Lever Analogy, Meanwhile, it analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of adopting free wheels in the shifting transients of automatic transmission.
