本文详细论述了美国人造板工业的基本情况、主要产品的开发和研究动向、新工艺和新技术的进展、新型人造板的发展趋势、新胶种的研究和开发、施胶技术的新进展、人工林木材在人造板工业中的开发与利用、人造板的产量和进出口贸易、供需矛盾及解决途径、实现发展目标所采取的措施等.
In this paper a relatively detailed discussion is made on the problems of supplyand demand of wood based panels, prediction of future development, development ofprincipal products, research trend and the latest technologica1 advances. The main lat-est technological advances are researches on methods of traditional adhesive modifica-tion, development of new formaldehyde adhesivcs, extraction of gluing material fromrenewable resources, bonding techniques of veneer with high water content, extrudingand painting technology of foam phenolic resin, new technology of hot pressing bysteam jetting, progress in utilizing the wood of mixed tree specics and hard-to-bondtree species, and the exploitation of wood from man-made forests for manufacture ofpanels. The paper describes the basic state of wood based panel industry in USA, the de-velopment trend, output, and export trade of wood based panels, the predicted out-put at the end of this century, the way to resolve the contradiction between supply anddemand, the measure to attain the objective of development, and the developmenttrend and prospect till the end of this century.
