磁盘物理参数提取的研究

Research on Disk Physical Modeling and Parameter Extraction Methods

摘要 当前计算机系统中,磁盘的性能无法与CPU和内存的性能匹配,导致I/O成为系统的主要性能瓶颈。最新研究表明,基于磁盘准确的物理特性进行相应的磁盘访问优化是提高磁盘I/O的有效方法。然而,磁盘厂商提供的物理参数一般都不够详细和准确,无法直接用于优化算法的实现。因此需要建立正确的磁盘模型,准确高效地提取磁盘的物理参数。该文在分析磁盘的物理结构,建立准确物理模型的基础上,设计并实现了新的磁盘物理参数提取通用算法,与现有的其他磁盘物理参数提取的算法相比,该算法在保证参数提取准确性的同时能够大幅度提高执行效率,缩短执行时间。 In the modern computer system,I /O is the performance bottleneck because the performance of disk does not match those of CPU and RAM.Recent researches indicate that one of the efficient I /O optimizing methods is the disk access optimizing based on the physical features of the disk.However,the physical parameters provided by the disk manufacturer are generally not accurate or detailed enough to be used in the disk access optimizing algorithms.Therefore,it is necessary to set up accurate physical model of the disk and extract its parameters efficiently and accurately.In this paper,by analyzing the physical structure of the disk and setting up its physical model,a new general algorithm to extract the physical parameters is designed.Comparing with other existing disk parameter extracting algorithms ,this algorithm ensures accurate results to all kinds of SCSI disk,as well as provides a high efficiency and a less time consuming.
