摘要
金岳霖不仅是中国现代最有成就的哲学家和逻辑学家,也是杰出的教育家。金岳霖认为,教育目的有内在、外在之别,内在目的是指学生“个体的发展”,外在目的是为国家服务。他主张废除旧式封建教育,又不要照搬美式现代教育制度,认为大学既要兼顾基础科学与应用科学,又要文理科学并重。他认为哲学的学习者应受到严格的怀疑和批判的训练、论证和推理的训练。而学生要做一个“真正的人”,就必须接受全面的通才教育,接受价值观念和信仰的教育。
Jin Yuelin is not only the most accomplished philosopher and logician, but also an outstanding educationist of modern China. Jin holds that there is an inherent as well as an external purpose for education. Hie inherent purpose refers to the students' 'individual development', while the external purpose is to serve the country. He argues for the abolishment of the old-fashioned feudal education without copying the contemporary American education system saying that colleges should not only consolidate the basic and applied sciences but also give equal attention to art and science. He thinks that learners of philosophy should be rigorously trained to doubt and to criticize as well as to demonstrate and to reason. A student seeking to be 'a true man' must be given an all-round education and the education about value and faith.
