Radix Paeoniae Rubra is the radix of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. or Paeonia veitchii Lynch. This traditional chinese medicine contains plentiful glycoside compounds. This traditional chinese medicine had wide pharmacological actions such as its actions of inhibiting aggregation of platelet and erythrocyte, anti thrombus, anticoagulation, anti atherosclerosis, protecting heart and liver, anti tumor, etc. It will be very necessary to further study and develop this traditional chinese medicine because of its wide pharmacological actions. To find the effective components based with its pharmacological action is more important.
