Westen ventilating shaft with net diameter of 5 m and depth of 572 m at Qixingkuang Colliery, Jixi Coal Administration, is completed for 5 months, at average sinking speed of 115 m per month and max. sinking speed of 187.1 m. Main technical measures adopted are sinking line of composite sinking mechanizetion. machinery for mechanized sinking include: travelling shuttering with large segment height of 5m, hoist sinking bucket and loading grab. There are two sets of single-hook hoisting equipment and two mixers and a thermal insulating container for just mixed concrete. Measures for shaft drainage include auxiliary small diameter drainage holes for lowering ground water level, blocking against water in shaft, draining from shaft and guiding water flow etc, which make shaft sinking dry and create good condition of rapid shaft sinking. Drilling and blasting method is adopted to sink shaft. 12—20 jack-hammer drills drill holes. hole is 3.4 m in depth, After blasting, loading grab loads waste into 2m^3 and 3m^3 sinking buckets, then hoist hoists buckets up. Waste is discharged from buckets into self-discharging car and transported off. Work organizetion is complex sinking team which divide into 4 speciality groups: drilling holes, mucking waste, hoisting and trasportingand ginging. Main sinking groups are four-six hour shifts per day and auxiliary groups——three-eight hour shifts per day.3m depth is sinked while an operating cycle, with 5 times of drilling and blasting and mucking cycle and 3 times of ginging and lining cycle, is completed within 24 hours.
