摘要
人是什么 ,人的本质如何 ,这始终是哲学的根本使命。哲学史上许多哲学家对此进行了不断的探索。现代著名哲学家卡西尔力图从一种与前人不同的角度对人的本质进行综合性的、功能性的诠释。他创建的符号与文化哲学就是从人的符号功能入手 ,把人看成是“符号的动物” 。
What are human and his nature? It is always a f un damental task of philosophy. Many philosophers have continued investigations int o this issue throughout the history of philosophy. The famous philosopher Cassir er made an attempt to interpret the nature of a human being in a comprehensive a nd functional way, which is different from those of his predecessors. His symbol ic and cultural philosophy, starting from the functions of human symbols, holds that man is nothing but 'an animal of symbols'. The whole system of human cult ure results from its symbol functions.
