摘要 On the morning of May 3 2003, Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciencesand CAS donated 300 thousand test kits for SARS virus, which is based on ELISA (Enzyme-LinkedImmunosorbant Assay) technique, to the National Headquarters for Prevention and Control of theSevere Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). These reagents will be sent to the front-line against SARSin no time and will provide a powerful tool to diagnose SARS in an accurate, quick and convenientway. The scientific principle of detecting virus infection is that once the human body is infectedby virus, the patient will develop a specific antibody against the external virus. When thespecially prepared virus protein reacts with blood serum taken from the patients, the specificprotein of the virus in the detecting reagent will combined with antibodies, and then theenzyme-linked reaction will make the color of reagent change and that may be detected by theinstrument to make the identification of people infected by the virus and therefore get accuratediagnosis.
