The widespread implementation of online sensors and digital technology in steel manufacturing operations has made it possible to acquire vast amounts of quality parameter data at each stage in the production route. SQM-the Steel Quality Manager, is a new system of organizing this data based on the concept of a quality data warehouse containing details of customers' order documentation as well material parameters that have been measured online, and all the information required for continual improvement in product quality to decrease production costs and meet customers' requirements.
