摘要
该文归纳了英语委婉语的五大基本特征 :时代变异、地域变异、语域变异、民族性和习语化。阐述了英语委婉语的构成方法 ,并着重从修辞手段、语义手段及构词手段作了分析。最后探讨了英语委婉语的种类。
This paper sums up five basic characteristics of euphemism,ie,variation of times,variation of region,variation of semantics,national trait and idiomatic feature.Then the structures of euphemism are discussed in detail from three aspects:rhetoric,semantics and word-building.At the end of the paper,the types of euphemism are described.
