Philip Roth, who has been active in literary world,is one of the great American Jewish writers. But the main stream of American literature accepts him not as a writer with the very strong tendency of Jewishness, because of his revolt against tradition revealing in his works. But this so called revolt is no more than Jewish writers' puzzles in facing how to melt into modern society (assimilation) and how to realize American dreams, and is their realization of their own Jewish identity and characteristics from the minority discourse' point of view as well. The article itself intends to analyze his works from the aspects of Jewish religion and culture,so as to argue that Roth is the real representative figure of American Jewish Literature.
