摘要
中国古代至迟从《周髀》和《九章算术》即出现开方问题和方法,以后逐渐推广,到宋元时代形成了一套较为完整的开方式理论。文中讨论了开方式的演变,与天元术的关系。最后讨论了开方式与“方程”、Equation的关系等。总结出六点总的看法。
The problems for the extractions of roots appeared at the latest in the mathematical works Zhou Bi (Zhou Gnomon) and Jiuzhang Suanshu (The Nine Chapters on Mathematics) . Then the method of extracting roots of equations was developed again and again. Till the period of the Song and Yuan dynasties, the theory of extracting roots was formulated. In the present paper the evolution of the theory and the relation between the method and the tianyuan method are discussed. The relation between traditional 'fangcheng' and 'equation' is also discussed. Finally, the author concludes his results in six aspects.
