江泽民继承和发展了毛泽东、邓小平的思想政治工作理论,对新时期党的思想政治工作作出了突出的理论贡献:阐明了新时期思想政治工作的地位、作用以及根本内容;提出了"四个紧密结合"的思想政治工作新思路;强调要加强党对思想政治工作的领导,尤其要搞好政工干部队伍建设。
