Objective To study the effects of occupational exposure to endocrine disrupters (ECDs) in plastic plants. Methods 719 female workers including observation group exposed to plastic manufacture production environment and control group not exposed to plastic manufacture production environment were selected by the cluster sampling method and were investigated using the unified questionnaire on female reproductive function. Results The observation group showed significantly higher prevalence rates of abnormal menstruation, and irregular menstrual period, menstrual cycle and menstrual quantity compared with those of control group (P<0.05). There was a significaut difference, according to break of duration of employment in irregular menstrual period and irregular menstrual quantity in observation group (P<0.05), whereas there was no linear relationship between abnormal menstruation and duration of employment. The risk factors of abnormal menstruation were analyzed by Logistic regression, the results showed that only exposure to endocrine disrupters was significantly associated with abnormal menstruation (P<0.05). Conclusion It seemed to be harmful to the menstrual function for female workers exposed to endocrine disrupters in production process of plastic manufacture. Further study should be carried out to make countermeasure protecting health of female workers.
