绞股蓝的花为单性,雌雄异株,雄花有雄蕊5个,雌花的雌蕊由3个心皮组成,花柱3条。花梗只有1条中央维管束,在花托处还出现周围的5条,中央维管理束进入雌蕊(或雄蕊)时分枝,周围的维管束进入花萼和花瓣时分支。花瓣的上、下表皮都有膨大的泡状细胞和泡状毛、花粉粒圆球形,具3孔沟;子房3室,每室1胚珠,珠被2层。种子表面有瘤状花纹,侧面有纵沟;种皮的表皮细胞乳突状、厚壁化;胚的子叶肥厚,胚芽没有分化。
