Single phase compound GdPt_2In have been prepared in a high-frequency induction furnace. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope energy spectrun analysis and optical microscopy have been used to determine the structure and lattice parameters. The compound exhibits a GdPt_2Sn-type structurc with a=0.4582nm, c=0.9067nm and c/a=1.979.
