Abstract A new method for preparing substrates for Surface-Enhanced Ra-man Scattering （SERS）analysis is described． Coventionai ToJlen’ s reagent and glucose soltition were used to coat Ag into paper covering with Al_2O_3.This produre is extremely simple and results in actlve and stable substrates. An enhancement factor of ca.1×10~4 was determined from comparison of nor-mal solution Raman intensitv of CV to its SERS intensitv，The detection limit achieved by dipping method of sample application is 1×10^(-9) for CV. The paper substrates have special use in analvsis.
