Caloptilia sp. is one of the most important pest of jasmine in Fujian Province. This paper reports the results of our studies on its morphological biology conducted during 1984—1987 in Fuzhou District. Under laboratory condition it occurs 12 generations in a year and overlaps between generations. In the field the larvae overwinter on the underside of jasmine leaves. The eggs are laid on the tender leaves and hatched within 2—7 days. The larvae usually enter the tender leaves and feed on them. The larval stage is 9—25 days with an average of 13.5 days. When they become mature, the larvae spin the silk cocoons on the leaves. The pupal stage is 3—9 days with an average of 5.8 days. The adults live 4-11 days with an average of 6.9 days. The larvae and pupae are often attached by hymenopterous. These parasites usually inhibit the outbreak of the pest.
