This essay tries to denaturalize the complicated appearance of The Mark on the Wall. Using the transitivity system as ana-lytical framework, this essay quantitatively and qualitatively examines the processes in this novel with the conclusion that despitethe criticism that this novel is hard to follow and read, it is in fact well-organized and the complicated appearance is only a dis-guise.
