In this paper, we introduce the method to design PC/104 communication module with PLD(Programmable Logic Device) and asynchronous communication element TL16C554. The design is brief, compatible and reliable. Two serial ports are for RS-232 communication, and two are for RS-485. The RS-485 serial ports can also identify signal polarity automatically.
