This article makes a systematic review of the main points discussed in the APEC Hospital Verification Working Conference (2002, Chicago), which include: the preferred developmental strategy of establishing national healthcare quality appraisal project; experience and cooperative conditions of APEC member countries in healthcare quality appraisal; how to establish and perfect quality appraisal standards; the significance and influence of such appraisal on the registered institutions and personals; and, the trans-regional cooperation of appraisal systems.
