No siliceous rocks at the basal Part of the Dangchong Formation in southern Hunan

摘要 湖南邵阳—耒阳相当于茅口组层位的岩性特殊,名当冲组,一般认为当冲组属茅口组相变所致。当冲组即当冲层,由田奇(王崔乃)、徐瑞麟于1936年创名,地点在湖南邵东县保和堂煤田南端的当冲(楼冲和长冲坪一带)。 当冲组在湘南分布稀散,露头普遍很差。其岩性与茅口组差异甚大。 It has been known from a large number of literatures that there is a siliceous bed at the basal part of the Permian Dangchong Formation in southern Hunan. Howe ver, many years of special study by us and lots of sections of the Permian Dangchong Formation have fully confirmed that there is no such siliceous bed and only the carbon-bearing calcareous shale intercalated with limestone lens conformably overlies the Permian Chihsia Formation.In fact, the thick-bedded or massive siliceous bed so called previously at the basal part of the Permian Dangchong Formation is 'holosiliceous' continental volcanic rocks and cryptoexplosive siliceous breccia bodies passing the rocks from the Middle Devonian to the Cretaceous.
