Reprinting Hao Bailin's 1988 article“Three Hundred Years of Newtonian Mechanics”is not only a tribute to a classic but also provides intellectual resources for today's complex systems research.To grasp the depth of Newtonian mechanics and understand the classical origins of complex systems is to seek inspiration through a dialogue between the classical and the modern-the essential significance of re-reading the article.
