摘要
“退朝还公府”指朝官早朝结束后回到各自的官衙中,这是唐人早朝结束后的一项重要职事。从宫殿到官署,尽管朝官的活动空间发生了改变,其官场角色却一直延续。唐人“退朝还公府”的礼仪在一定程度上与宫中早朝的礼制相同,有严格的班序和尊卑,也有复杂的官场矛盾。唐人“退朝还公府”的诗歌,深受其功名思维的影响。这种思维具有两个维度,其一是为追求功名而遵循官场秩序,其二是因政治环境险恶而生发超脱欲望。在这种思维的影响下,唐人“退朝还公府”的诗歌表现了朝官在这一空间里的行为和情感,即:依循功名场中的班序礼仪走向官署;在官署中的唱和中低层级官员表现得十分谦卑;因矛盾争斗而在官署里生发进退之忧。可见,在“退朝还公府”的时空里,诗人的情感表现也能折射出朝官的生存环境。
“The act of returning to official bureaus after the early levee”refers to the routine where Tang dynasty officials retreated to their respective government offices after the early levee session,a significant duty following the early levee.While their physical space shifted from the palace to administrative offices,their bureaucratic roles remained continuous.The rituals associated with this transition largely mirrored the protocols of the early levee,characterized by strict hierarchical order,distinctions of rank,and subtle political tensions.Poetry depicting this post-levee return to bureaus was deeply influenced by the Tang literati’s“mentality of pursuing fame and achievement.”This mindset operated on two levels:one driven by adherence to bureaucratic order in the quest for recognition,and the other by a desire for transcendence amid the perilous political climate.Shaped by this duality,such poetry reveals officials’behaviors and emotions within this transitional space:adhering to hierarchical etiquette en route to offices,displaying marked humility in bureaucratic interactions,and grappling with anxieties over advancement or retreat due to factional conflicts.Thus,the emotional expressions in these poems reflect the existential realities of court officials within the spatiotemporal framework of“returning to bureaus after the early levee.”
