Ecological civilization education is widely recognized as a pivotal approach to fostering students’core competencies. An interdisciplinary project-based curriculum, titled“Cultivation and Ecological Restoration of Mangroves,”was designed and implemented, utilizing the local mangroves of Shenzhen as a central context. The curriculum was structured to integrate science, language arts, and fine arts across all phases—including topic selection, design, implementation, and evaluation—thereby examining effective methods for embedding ecological civilization education within primary science curricula.Implementation outcomes indicated that the curriculum facilitated student engagement in inquiry within authentic contexts, improved their problem-solving capabilities and capacity to articulate findings, and promoted a greater sense of ecological responsibility and scientific literacy.
